Last time i went there you can just turn up and park at the ground for a small fee, then you can use their socialclub for £1 if i remember rightly. The Walsall fans were very friendly and their beer was very cheap.

Greedy Stupid Unions (Main Board & Lounge all in one)
rocknrollman no2 replied to Gemmel's topic in The Lounge
Unions are there to protect their members and would not have told those drivers to go on strike as its ilegal. Therefore to say the unions are greedy is wrong. I dont know the ins and outs of the reasons they want to strike, but it should only be used as a last resort. -
We have to have a certain amount of immigrants because we are part of the community of Europe, something the TORYS signed us up to. Labour bailed out the banks, something the TORYS agreed with. The rest of this mess was caused by said banks overleading and being greedy, something that went on just as much under the TORY government. The EMA was there to help poorer students and is a drop in the ocean compared to what the government needs to spend, but has been taken away by this condem goverment, made up from mostly TORYS. HTHs

Are Tories just greedy people? Discuss
rocknrollman no2 replied to Fuengirola Saint's topic in The Lounge
Once most MPs reach the giddy heights of parliment, then they all become greedy,no matter what party they represent, with the exception of maybe one or two. Just take a look at the expenses scandal. They are all money grabbing. -
I agree....the police themselfs.
-
Not sure what you mean, but from what ive seen posted on here from some, grown up is far from what i would call it.
-
Thats funny because all of the people i have spoken to over the past week have generally supported the students and a lot of people have conceded that without the violence, the media would not have been that interested in the protests.
-
So whats wrong with that?
-
You make a good point. There were protests, but because there was no violence it wasnt reported too much in the media. The thing is,now we have fees foe education, where does it stop? This year students have to pay back £3000 per year, but that will change in 2012 to £9000. This is so wrong. If all of us had a price rise of 300% on the things we buy, wouldnt you be angry??
-
Labour said if they were still in power, then fees would have risen around the £100-300 per course. This is of course not acceptable, but at least it was manageable. Under the condems, instead of a few hundred pounds more in debt, students will be three times more in debt. No wonder they want to protest!!!!
-
But the Liberals now form a coalition so they do have a say in government policy. To be fair, when they told the students that they wouldnt charge fees for their courses,i bet they didnt in their wildest dreams, think they would be in power. But now they are, they should not be surprised that people are angry that they have not only broken their promises, they have indeed shafted the students and universities well and truely. They deserve all of the grief they get.

Brilliant post.Totally agree.

Saints 0 Brentford 2 - Post Match Depression
rocknrollman no2 replied to St Chalet's topic in The Saints
We were out played, out sung and totally lacked ideas. Why wasnt it changed when it was obvious we were not getting anywhere? Why is it when the team has a rest,we come back like we couldnt care less? Total waste of time. -
Actually students start paying back at £21000 and lets face it,if they have studied a degree in a subject like engineering, medicine, law etc,it wont be too long before your wages are at that level. Im not against the idea of students paying towards their education, because they benefit from it.But so does the country by having a skilled workforce. We just need to find a way that encourages poorer students to get a degree.
-
You are right,it wont change his choices, but it will change his amount of debt when he completes his degree. In a lot of cases instead of having to pay back £9000 he will have to pay back £27000.
-
I think the point he was trying (although he could have said it better),to make was ,he could just as easily turn to crime, but chose to instead better himself and go to uni.But because of the condems,he now wont be able to.
-
Well what you suggest is an option, but i would not like to start charging money for services which should be provided free on the NHS.As for the reasons for protesting, just wait till the public sector cuts start to bite. Less people working in government, hospitals, councils, police, justice system, schools,i could go on.All of these people will be angry at losing their jobs and the rest of us should be mad that services will be cut to the bone and prices for basic things will increase significantly(20% vat from Jan 1st). Still we can find trillions of pounds to send troops to Afganistan and Iraqi and find the money for Trident. We can also find the money to bail out the banks and still allow the idiots in charge of those banks to retain their huge bonuses from causing this mess in the first place. No wonder people are starting to riot.
-
How are you paying for the students? Do you make a donation?
-
I think you will find a lot more demos will happen while the condems slash and burn. This is just the beginning.
-
Good idea.We dont want anyone expressing an opinion in a supposedly free country. Lets just go to work, then sit quietly in our homes while the government totally ruin our lifes.
-
Ive noticed a lot of foodstuffs getting smaller over the years as well. Wagon wheels, Those pink shrimp thingys, Pork scratchings, And chocolate biscuits. It just means i have to eat twice as much.
-
I dont think anyone thinks they are owed a living, but surely our youth is allowed to have access to higher edcucation, without having a lifetime of debt?Isnt this what the ministers that serve in the government already had? What the condems have voted for, will result in a lot less students from average backgrounds, while students from rich families having more choice. As for blaming Labour for this mess,i seem to remember it was caused by greedy bankers and a few Americans defaulting on their mortgages.
-
Well i think the students were right to stand up for what they believe in.Shame the condem government has shafted them and future generations.Lets hope there are more demos against this governments loopy policy of cuts and sackings.

Thanks RedAndWhite91. I know my musical tastes are best described as 1954-74, but even i believe that music should always be re-inventing itself. I feel sorry for the youth of today. Where as past generations had the likes of Elvis,Beatles,Stones,Elton John etc what have they got now? Cher on X Factor or Mary from Tescos to look forward to?
-
Shows like the X Factor do nothing for music. Not so long ago you had to be different to be noticed in the music industry. Now you have shows like this one where everyone tries to look the same and sound the same. After one or two records everyone forgets who they were. Apart from Butlins and cruise ships,(where these contestants will end up),none of these X Factor hopefuls will contribute to the progression of music in this country. What ever happened to music being exciting and new?
