£500K Needed to Keep Going to the End of the Season
Channon's Sideburns replied to Guided Missile's topic in The Saints
Interestingly in today's programme it states that the £1000 club includes the following... Leon, Tom Scott, Mike Richards, Guy Askham, The Gordon Family...and a couple of others... But no, Rupert Lowe, or Andrew Cowen....oh what a surprise. I've lambasted Askham a lot, and still firmly believe he should not have any future role with this club, but fair play to him for backing the club now. -

No. Poor management of the business by numerous individuals over the last 7 years has done that. Lowe returning with his fantastic 'revolutionary coaching structure' hastened our demise. Any business cannot afford to alienate 5,000 'consumers' and expect to survive if you are already struggling financially. It's as simple as that. Also, Lowe and Cowen could have re-invested their severance payments to keep the club alive until the end of the season...or delay their salaries as Euell and Davis have done. -

How ironic would it be if Dulieu would be involved in the 'forensic accounting procedure' that the FL have requested. -
Appreciate what you are saying Nick but TBF I'd rather forego the attacking presence of Thomson for a clogger that actually puts his foot in rather than letting 2 different Charlton players glide past him - which in turn lost us the game. Not hitting on Thomson, he can only do his best and I think he's ok going forward, but it was blindingly apparent in the first half that Charlton were targetting him as a weak link, and boy did they exploit it. It's Wotte's responsibility to change things like that - tacklers are what you need in defence in this situation.
-
Well if he does stay he definitely needs to go on a tactical awareness course. Starting with the section of 'Not playing a Winger at Right Back when you have a Central Defender on the Bench' Keeping Thomson at RB when he could have brought Liptak on alongside Seijs and moving Perry to RB in the Charlton game could cost us big time... Wotte has passion, let's see in the next few games if he can raise these players 'a la Pearson'. Let's keep our fingers crossed that he does.
-
Or perhaps Crouch and Pearson were told by Lowe not to buy or sell any players as he and Wilde were about to take over? So, indirectly, Lowe was to blame for it. I firmly believe with the Lymington links between Crouch and Vokes that we would have got him.
-
I posted numerous threads on signing Vokes at the time and was laughed at by some, who thought he wouldn't be good enough...ahem....
-
I started threads on signing Sam Vokes from Bmth last season...got laughed at by some. Hope those same people were watching him today.
-
I suggested a Three Way Dance in StMarys, I'd pay to see Leon beat the hell out of Wilde and Lowe....nice way to draw a line under things and raise some cash!!
-
I don't care as long as it doesn't involve Lowe, Askham, Wilde or anyone who might think about bringing the LoweLife back to the table. His interview on BBC showed what a wonderful 'character' he is, but not fit to be involved with this football club EVER AGAIN.

Corporates yesterday -donation of £10,000

Otts...the Hungary interest - does that not 'fit in' with the reasoning about the Friendly - behind closed doors for the viewing by an investor? Agreed, my worry is that if Askham or Richards are involved are that we would have the potential reappearance of the ruddy faced one.... THAT MUST NOT HAPPEN -
Where's Dubai Phil???????????!!!!

Did anyone tell Askham to GO FORTH??
Channon's Sideburns replied to Channon's Sideburns's topic in The Saints
As you will see from my post today, I have stated he has now only not gained further financially because of the collapse of SLH. Sometimes on here phrases can be typed that you review in the morning and then realise that they do not show the meaning meant behind the statement - and for that I apologise if it misled. That does not excuse the Reverse Takeover or the methods used to buy up 'Old' Limited Company shares - the aim was to make a big profit - did the BBC lie then? Yes, he does stay out of the arguments, but he's always been there in the background. I'd much rather have someone like Mike Richards on board who actually explains his reasoning for supporting Rupert than someone who keeps people guessing. BTW, surely using your shareholding to support the return of Rupert Lowe is openly supporting him?? So if he didn't support Lowe, why was he always there in the Directors Box with him? or the Ex-Directory corporate box?? -

Thank you for posting - as I am sure you can understand, it is now imperative that individuals such as Askham and Lowe are no longer involved - if we are to push on from this whole sorry episode, the new broom must sweep clean without interference from individuals with their own agenda before that of the club. The link in the article between Mr Scott and Mr Askham, and Askham's appearance in the Directors Box on Saturday started alarm bells. We have an opportunity, should a new owner be found, of returning this great club, eventually to becoming once again the hub of the community, from farming people, to sailing fraternity and business people - people who 20 odd years ago would travel miles to support the Saints. The fans should always be 'king' - too many short sighted individuals chose to forget that. -

Benjii...Google - Southampton FC Panorama. There is a full transcript of what occurred. Admittedly the share obtained in the PLC are now worthless, but that doesn't make what he and others did right. -

Perhaps this is why he was there.... --- Tuesday 3rd April 2007 By Simon Walter » A butcher's son known as Mr Jersey' is the man behind last week's purchase of £253,000 worth of shares in Saints' parent company. Tom Scott, a business associate of former Saints director Mike Richards, is believed to have bought 550,000 shares in Southampton Leisure Holdings plc at the end of last week. Of those, 300,000 were sold by ex-Saints chairman Rupert Lowe's father, Patrick. As the chairman of Channel Island Traders, the Channel Islands' largest company with a Stock Market value of around £230m, 62-year-old Scott is the most prominent businessman in Jersey with a reputation for ruthlessness. Scott left school at 15 and is now worth £100m. He made most of his money through the International Energy Group, which he sold for £200m two years ago. Intriguingly, former Saints director Richards - a supporter of Lowe's during last summer's takeover battle - was chief executive of IEG. Former Saints chairman Guy Askham, who also backed Lowe last summer, was a non-executive director of IEG before the Guernsey-based company was taken over by Australian venture capitalists Bab**** and Brown Infrastructure in 2005. Channel Island Traders has a monopoly on business in Jersey and Guernsey but a statement to the Stock Exchange last Friday revealed that it is the subject of a takeover offer. If Scott was to relinquish his position as chairman of CI Trading, of which he is believed to own 17 per cent, he would have more time - and money - to focus on a new project . . . potentially Southampton FC. He has been to St Mary's to see Saints in the past but is not the close friend of Lowe he has been reported to be in the national press. -

Let's hope that as Askham is mentioned, this could be the reason why he was in the Directors Box - it BETTER not happen... Prof, I bet pigs fly in your world don't they? Lowe CHOSE to come back, no one other than Wilde invited him. We didn't want him back. More importantly, Barclays (remember the ones who pulled the plug) didn't ask for him to come back and unseat Crouch... The Execs who spent the money we didn't have were EMPLOYED BY WILDE - Lowe's bed buddy (how strange no mention anymore of their wonderful working relationship). I didn't ever want Lowe out at any price, in fact I attended both Marches with Askham and Richards in my sights, as those were the ones backing up Rupert's harebrained ideas. Lowe's methods led us into Admin - history and experience will show that. He DIDN'T have to remove Pearson, he DIDN'T have to employ Poortvliet..but as we all know.... RUPERT KNOWS BEST.
