  1. I think it was Graham Turner at Hereford who also got their forum closed down through items that were posted. Let's not give Rupert the opportunity chaps and chapettes...victory will be ours in the long run. We will get our club back...no mistakes.
  2. Exactly, the same individual now has a chance to redeem himself. 'Agent for Change' - IT'S TIME MICHAEL - SHOW SOME BALLS AND KICK THAT JOKER OUT - THIS TIME FOR GOOD. Who knows, you may be able to get rid of those remaining 15,000 'Saints Go Wilde' T-Shirts... I'd buy one then....
  3. Who's in charge of the finances?? David Jones again. Surely he would be the one who would advise the board what could be done and what would be financially worthwhile....
  4. Hmmmm....I think the reason that we all nail our colours to our respective masts is that we are all strong on our beliefs. There should be some form of disagreement on here, simply to keep the balance. The only problem I have with some on here is how quick your comments can be jumped upon, and judged. In the past 48 hours I've been called a numpty, dinlo, and muppet. Why?? Because I started a thread reminicing about the 6-3 win over Man U and asked about why Stoneham fell through. If other posters then question me I am going to state my view - I don't think Lowe is good for this club. However, I'm not in a financial position to change things, but as a supporter since the age of 5 and a shareholder, I reserve the right to make my feelings known. And, I'm not a muppet. I never stood in the Milton.... Let's face it, if everyone was forced to agree with everybody else where would we be?? Saints Boardroom??? Only joking.....fishing....!!
  5. I think it's Dunfords that Peachey works for. I remember that when he was living in Pilley years ago my sister was babysitting for him. I went along and couldn't believe my luck, before he went out he put his video of the 76 Final on for me to watch with after match interviews...considering this was early 80's anyone with a VCR in our village was impressive to me, let alone a Saint!!! Great guy.
  6. No probs, appreciate your reply. I started the thread with good intentions, just wanting to widen my knowledge of the Stoneham issue. I thought that it was a valid point to raise as the post on 606 was alleging that Rupert ballsed up the application. As it turns out it looks like there were 8-10 people who collectively did that, so that's fine by me. Unfortunately there are some on here at present (yourself excluded) who just want an argument. Regardless of anyone's views on the running of the club, we are all red and white. At least you'd think so!!
  7. JFP. I have pointed out on other responses above, quite clearly... I WAS NOT THE PERSON WHO MENTIONED DERBY AS AN EXAMPLE - IT WAS PASTED FROM THE THREAD ON 606 BY A POSTER 'Golac etc'. Unfortunately others didn't get the gist of that and basically started mudslinging. I'm not going to repeat it again, it's getting very tiresome now. Not your fault. BTW I've two small daughters, and I hope 1000% that Chavs cease to exist by the time my girls are in their teens. Chavs are the boil on the arse of society. End of.
  8. Indeed...it's getting worse on here lately with the Lowe Mafia showing no consideration for anyone's opinions other than their own...say something they don't agree with, and, one by one they appear... Hmmm...who does that sound like to you Ottery????
  9. Wasn't the Play Offs mentioned as a target at the start of the season??? The key to it all is to manage expectations. PR OS articles at the start of the season were indicating that we would be challenging...more at the top than the bottom. We are where we are...imagine though the possibilities of what JP could do with money! I actually think without one hand tied behind his back he could do ok. TBF at the moment, if anyone said 'Burley or Poortvliet' to me, it would be Jan. He is doing a much better job than Burley managed with money. It proved at the start of the season last year that Burley wasn't interested when the money ran out... How very Redknapp....
  10. I would think that the percentages can change quite quickly, Jones gave a clue to that at the AGM, stating that the 81% was just a blip. What would be interesting would be to see how our competitors in the CCC fare in the same manner - Charlton would probably be a good comparable perhaps. Thought in the past it was mentioned that 40% was the desired amount. Seems like it's a classic 'chicken and egg' scenario though. You can't improve the cash flow without attendances at a suitable level, and of course you can struggle to get the attendances if the on-field offering isn't what is required. A very fine balancing act, choosing who to keep on board (players and staff) and who to let go without causing too much disruption and damage to the squad. One thing I would like to see come the end of the season is a review of the playing staff to make sure our squad levels (regardless of the league we are in) are not too high. If you consider that we have already used over 30 players this season - players like Pulis and Gasmi can't be kept hold of if there's no meaningful contribution.
  11. Ahhh, I guess I've made it on this forum, abuse from CB...!! A) I didn't post the 'Derby' reference you blew a blood vessel over - it was cut and pasted from 606. B) If you read a post higher up you would have seen my explanation as to why I was asking the question - I asked a factual question and got several, honest, factual answers without bile.. C) The other thread denegrated into farce because individuals on here play 'thought police' if you dare to imply that actually something positive happened pre-97. I'm sorry but the last time I looked this forum was all about OPINION. If I think we've deteriorated since 1997, that's my lookout. Posts by others quoting 2003 as if its some sort of milestone (as we still lost) make me laugh. It's all history. I was at the Semi's in 84, 86, ZDS in 92 and Cardiff. Christ, my parents even took me to the Civic Centre in 76 when I was 18mths old. I'm sick to my back teeth of people on here jumping on comments posted before they actually READ them. Some people need to remember we're all Red and White.
  12. Ahhh Donny Osman...bless him. Miss his free kicks. He used to live near me just outside Beaulieu. His missus was lovely... Sat on KK's knee once during a Junior Saints Q&A Session in early 80's. I think that was when he had a nasty injury (or was that after?) Had Work Experience with Alan Smith and Eileen in the Junior Saints office during the Branfoot era. Sat in on a discussion about Micky Adams being nominated for Coaching Badges by Branfoot. Speaking to him he was actually a very nice bloke. Met Dave Merrington and Ray Graydon in the Boot Room. My sister used to babysit for Dave Peach (he lived in our village). Played football with his son Dan...at age 8 he ran rings around us when we were 11!! Spent a Booze Cruise from Southampton to Cherbourg with Peter Rodrigues. He was there organising a trip with the Shirley Con Club but spent the whole journey drinking with us. Brilliant guy, very flattered by the conversation we had about the 'hero' status that the squad continue to enjoy. Nick Holmes rang our house once to discuss a new Team Kit with my Dad. (He was running a Sports Shop at the time). I answered the phone and then ran round the house shouting.....'DAD!!!! IT'S NIIIIIIIICCCKKK HHOOOOLLLMMMEESS!!!!' My dad was not that impressed but did see the funny side, and Nick sold him a new kit...New Olympic in a lovely Forest Green I remember. Insisted on No5 at the time as I thought I was Neil Ruddock.
  13. Missed that bit about the additional facilities at SMS... Would that not be a way of helping us out of this mess though? Same principle as Stoneham, rents etc help to fund mortgage payments... Lowe could look to gather financial support (intros from WH Ireland?) add the necessary units and therefore longer term get his investment back with a BETTER PACKAGE FOR AN EVENTUAL TAKEOVER. Simple. Question is, why hasn't Lowe or Wilde or anyone else attempted it since we moved to SMS??
  14. Thanks Gem, I've not been trying to beat Lowe with this one, just thought that the Stoneham issue was interesting. I only cut and pasted what I saw from 606 - there's lots of conspiracy theorists on here, perhaps including me at times!
  15. I wasn't the one mentioning Derby...the guy on 606 did that.
  16. Saw the post and was interested to find out - no conspiracy - It is getting like the Thought Police on here regarding Rupert! I was at college in Brock at the time, and remember that the locals were up in arms, but didn't know about the Eastleigh retailers kicking off. You would have thought that the location would have been ideal though, closer to the Motorway links etc. Thanks for the input, can now be consigned to the memory bank.
  17. Saw this on 606 (don't laugh..) - what actually caused the Stoneham Plan to fall through? I remember that the usual NIMBY's paraded themselves to try to block it - the post on 606 (below) makes some big accusations against RL though, saying that the planners just got fed up of him. If true, it does make a mockery of the 'We Built it, You fill it' claim...if Stoneham would have been built (and with the Retail Units financing the Payments on the Stadium) we could have been in a totally different financial position to now. Instead we have the £20M over our heads. Hardly the evidence of good business acumen. Come on guys...what happened? I know that as the post was on 606 it may be as realistic as the Skates' Championship hopes but it is worthy of discussion. --- Channon wide to Golac who crosses to Osgood and bang into the top corner. (U11922071) posted 23 Hours Ago Absolutely incorrect, you clearly don't know the history of why we are where we are. 1. The Stoneham site was near the M27 and included proposed retail and leisure outlets and facilities. 2. Those outlets pay rent which covers the ground mortgage payments. 3. Lowe angered the planners to the point they threw the whole proposal out for good. 4. Lowe had already agreed the old ground sale and time was pressing. 5. Lowe was saved from total humiliation when Southampton City Council came up with a plot in a run down industrial area right next to the gas storage units. We are where we are through his arrogance and incompetence and cannot support our stadium costs without selling everything. Lowe has never acknowledged the Council saved his bacon and our stadium is nothing special at all. Still, all the many Uefa games we have staged has been really handy! Go and see Derby's ground to see what might have been, cinema's, shops, pubs, hotels, restaurants a plenty. The stadium is nothing to what the right man could have achieved. -----
  18. Well that was probably because the 15,000 or so Plastic Mancs in the Saints areas had an effect....or the fact that we were all supporting the team?? Therein lies the problem, if you forget what he stands for at this club and still line his pockets then you deserve what you will get...which will be worse..League 1. Watch the atmosphere change if we lose the next 2 games. These are the most critical games in the Clubs recent history as they could shape our season. It's time to put up or shut up for Lowe, Poortvliet (who I feel is an honourable man) and Wilde. Well forget Wilde...you can see he'll let Rupert take the flak for all this...
  19. Different one to Peter Storrie of Skatesmouth tho....that one used to play for the Arse I believe...

  21. Echo that. As I posted above, I was not trying to create a 'Top 6' finishing side by the content of the original post, as some have claimed. I know we have been on the whole 'sh1te' for about 18 years. FFS!! What is clear over the last six months is that we have gone from a club which was 85-90% united (on the pitch after Sheff U) to a clear (at least) 50-50 split pro and against Lowe. Which, regardless of whoever you think is good or right for the club, is not healthy for the future of SFC. That split has been down to the presence of one individual - regardless of my views on him or anybody else's - Lowe is continuing to cause upset and disturbance to the fanbase. If Wilde had a backbone he's have a word in his shell-like and ask him to take a back seat for now. The fact that no-one (Cowen included) seems to have the kahunas to stand up to him speaks volumes.
  22. Hmmm...nice mention of Danny Wallace but aren't you forgetting these that came through the Youth System before Lowe's arrival... Benali, Shearer, Kenna, Both other Wallaces, Oakley.... BTW, I never said that we were top 6 before Lowe arrived - if you re-read the original post instead of jumping on the 'Let's protect Rupey at all Costs Bandwagon' you would actually see that my point was how we had fallen....from beating Man U convincingly to...13 years later....chasing shadows on a pitch. Cyber Bullies eh? Don't you just love em?
  23. Exactly 77...in fact at the moment I'm being barracked by the usual suspects on another thread because I mentioned that having watched the 6-3 win over Man U in 96 it showed how we had fell as a club since Lowe got involved. Seems like their all on 'Protect Rupert Alert'.
  24. Hmmm...something about a David Frost consortium interested at the time makes me think that Rupert wasn't the only person that was interested in developing the club. Hindsight's a fine thing..but yes Rupert delivered the stadium, with a £20M + DEBT THAT IS DAMN NEAR CRIPPLING US.. HE GAMBLED THEN AS WILDE DID, DON'T PRETEND ANYTHING OTHERWISE. Lowe's strategy was fine as long as we stayed in the Prem. We got relegated and it fell apart. And David Hirst??????????????? Christ how many minutes did he last??
  25. But he didn't want to stay because Souness had left...which in turn started the chain reaction of the next 10 years..... 1. Appoint a new Manager having paid off the old coaching staff; 2. Dismantle previous manager's squad; 3. Allow new manager to build new squad; 4. As Squad takes time to gel, league position falters; 5. Manager leaves by mutual consent; 6. Appoint a new Manager having paid off the old coaching staff..... Repeat as necessary to build up debts, confirm relegation and alienate the fans... See....who's fault is it that we're in the CCC now....struggling to stay in it??? Of course...it's people like me who have supported this club for 29 years.
