10/03/09 Officially The End Of Total Football
Channon's Sideburns replied to Gemmel's topic in The Saints
Total Football? Nah, we never had that...it was Total RupeBall... So, I wonder how many of the positives are left on here? Three good wins and that's it. Still 2nd from Bottom. Hey-ho it was fun when it lasted...Walsall here we come I guess -
Rupert Gummidge takes off his 'Paterson Head' before popping on the 'McGoldrick Head'....
-
Cheers Johnny..

Indeed BTW, for those in doubt, not the couple sat in the NatWest branch, the bit just after when he does a home visit....nice pad Mary
-
I think Adrian is confusing every other potential CEO and Chairman of the club with the present incumbant... pettiness of replacing a manager just because they didn't appoint them.... Hmmmm who could that type of person be I wonder???
-
JFP, she is lovely lady but no obsession a la Scooby for me - no photos but will try to find a link to the ad if poss...! Mind you as the subject of the bit was ISA's I wouldn't talk to NatWest - coming from an IFA background I'd always go for independent advice..!

I think the main thing is that the pressure needs to be on Lowe and Wilde....or more likely their associates... We are on the cusp of one hell of a run (and credit to Wotte for the motivation and nous) but we need to not lose sight of how we got into this mess. Support the team (as always) 110% - but, the focus should remain - Lowe and Wilde out at the end of the season. DO NOT play into Lowe's PR Team's hands by stopping now - who knows, if we had all kept quiet...would Poortvliet still be here?????
-
Anyone else seen this yet?? Watching Sky Sports last night, in the break it came on - thought...hang on a minute.... That's Mary Corbett! Take a look next time it's on!
-
Right, I said two weeks ago that Wotte needed to deliver a string of good results..which he has. Well done Wotte....keep us up and become the next WGS. As far as Rupert goes...doesn't change a thing in my eyes - he HAS to go this summer along with Wilde. I'm all for keeping Wotte if this continues - whoever came in would be foolhardy at best to replace the manager just because they didn't appoint them....

Bring the Caps out for Bally - Burnley (H) 25/04
Channon's Sideburns replied to Channon's Sideburns's topic in The Saints
Cheers Aley!! TBF I've been reading Nineteen's posts with interest recently, they have taken a turn for the better (less rudeness etc) so no, I'm not on a wind up. I just really think that Bally was a credit to us - regardless of the Man City issue, as far as I am concerned he deserves a regular tribute - he was the one of the driving forces behind our promotion in the seventies and helped bring our younger players on (Steve Williams for example). Met him once in Lymington at a charity game and he was brilliant. Also went to a 'Question Time' session as part of Junior Saints during his second playing spell. Top Bloke. I have no doubt that he would have been backing the fans this season - he would have stood his ground regarding the fans' rights to march if they wanted....kind of feel Merrington fights our corner still but he seems a bit neutered since the old Falsehope fiasco. -
Not that we are safe Nick, but there are many now posting the 'perhaps Lowe isn't that wrong' theory....which in truth regardless of personal opinion, is a little premature. The fact that Wotte is now in charge playing a mix of youth and experience (the traditional way in footballing circles) then I guess it is an admission of his policies being flawed. I think that is what is causing muffled laughter on here - two wins (and good wins at that, don't get me wrong) and people are getting carried away... Now, another win on Tuesday and we are getting a proper run together..
-
So in summary. We finished last season with a team that had a mix of youth and experience. We started this season with a team that had youth. We are now trying to stay up based on a team based on a mix of youth and experience. I'd say that's a very big backtrack.... So why did we get rid of Pearson again??????
-
I'm living games one by one at the moment. Two good wins won't change the season but at least the team is together, more balanced and scoring. We all know why and how we are in this mess, and by god I want Lowe strung up for the fiasco, but we now have no choice - he's here probably to the end of the season. Wotte has fooooked me off with his comments about the fans but I can't argue about what he has done with the team...as long as it continues. Fingers crossed eh...

Just realised that it is two years ago on 25th April that we lost Bally. As a celebration of his career, life, and contribution to football on the South Coast, I thought perhaps we could all wear caps to and during the Burnley home game on 25th April - the 2nd anniversary of Alan's passing. It looked fantastic at the game when his kids attended. It would be our little tribute to the great man - what do you think?? I miss Bally. He always spoke with conviction, used to love his phone ins on Solent on the way up to games - he always stood his ground for the fans. Would have loved to hear his thoughts on this season - can't think that he would have held back on his assessments!!

Selection dilemma vs Ipswich on Tuesday?
Channon's Sideburns replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
Same 11, Same Subs...Same fooookin pants. DO NOT CHANGE A THING UNLESS WE HAVE TO..... -
It's a bugggger when you get Sweaty Pits isn't it??? --- Well Done Wotte by the way.
-
Hmmm...
-
Funnily enough though, that will be the sort of fan that Mikey's after!
-
Steve Moran, Steve Moran Steve Steve Moran When he gets the ball he's sure to score Steve Steve Moran --- Come on Saints..........You can beat this s"1t!!!!!!!!!!
-
Great news Tim. Wish Ron and his wife all the best - it is good news to hear when we aren't doing too well. Thanks for keeping us updated on here.
-
Cheers FM, that clears that up nicely.
-
Interesting, but that's still £10k too much - not aportioning blame towards our board though, just football in general. Appreciate for every Graeme Le Saux (intelligence wise) you get a Jermaine Pennant but can't see how those sort of fees could be justified..
-
I was wondering that as well...sad state of our national game if we end up paying those paracites to get players OFF the wage bill..
