Once again though the sticking point is money - I can't see one of those being available for the kind of money we could afford. Perhaps Chris might come back and help us purely for the 'love of the club', errr but then again perhaps he'll stay at FFC picking up his 20k a week!

Mike - I agree - we had alternatives then - you've highlighted what we could have done. The problem being - errr we didn't. We went with the youth, and as far as I can tell we have no money in the pot to do anything but stick with the youth. The question being asked is how do we move the club forward. But before we can address that, we have to stop it from moving backwards, which with this current set up we are doing - and have been for some years.

This is the bit that worries me UP. Lots of people on here have said that we played some neat stuff, lots of pundits have actually applauded the way in which we knock it around in midfield - get it down and get it to feet. But when you think about it, it's actaully quite easy to do. Most teams will let you play football in front of them, especially if (like us) you don't hurt them when you do it. And that is the crux of the matter for this team - we don't hurt teams. We play pretty stuff, no cutting edge, no end product and therfore no result. I just think that teams have sussed us out - young boys trying to do it the right way, but not really up to it. Let them run out of ideas, bully them off the ball - go direct and get a shot in. Once we go behind in a game, its very difficult for the young lads to concentrate and try to get back into it. I fear for this system - looks good, but currently producing not a lot.

Missing two penalties is not unlucky, unprofessional yes, but unlucky definately not. How you can conclude that they didn't have a shot on target for the first hour (which we apparently dominated as well..!!) is worrying - we were 3 bloody nil down after the first 45...!!! All well and fine relying on SaintsTV to give you an idea of whats going on - but expect lots of red & white tinted spec stuff thrown in - thats their job and they want to be doing it for the rest of the season. Given these stats, it doesn't look too much like home domination to me - more a bit 50/50 but the men beat the shyte outta the boys where it mattered. Would hate to think that he has any say whatsoever, but where appearance fees are payable then I think he's holding the purse strings tightly closed. If he's meddling in anything tactical then he's a fool.

With all due respect S2 you don't pose a very good questions. We havn't actually moved forward as a club for what... 5 years or so...??? The question is, how do we stop the slide, (we aint at the bottom yet), stabalise the club (could take years), and then get it moving forward again. In the current light - who really would want to invest in a club with very little current playing potential, most investors want a quick return - there are plenty of Premier teams out there willing to take their cash, or clubs better placed then ourselves. There are alternatives to youth - but ultimately they involve vast sums of money - which we just do not have. The situation at SMS is going to get worse before it gets better - we have not moved forward for years....!!!!

How exactly were we unlucky...?? I wasn't at the match, nor did I listen to it, but I'm intriqued as to how we were unlucky...??? Did we hit the woodwork 4 times, have 3 good goals ruled offside, have a player sent off incorrectly, anything that might remotely have been unlucky....??? Or did we actually have 2 gilt edge opportunities which we failed with on both occasions and then never had the guile or quality to get back into the game after we fluffed our lines. Luck, I think - had naff all to do with it...!

And do you get the feeling that a certain Mr Beattie and Mr Dyer might just be waiting to whoop our asses as well...???

Well you can - but you need a shedful of dosh - but I take your point. You could 'buy to keep yourself in the league' though. Unfortunately we have gambled with kids - and right now it's squeaky bum time - and appears not to be working...!!!

Irrespective of who we have - the problem is that fact that we have no resources available. What you see is what we have. There is no money for anything else. Now - how many managers do you think would jump at the chance to come and manage at SMS with only the current playing staff available, and absolutely no funds whatsoever to buy anything or anybody?
