Is this a joke post or what? Give the new guy a chance for christs sake. He might be rubbish but one game is hardly going to be the deciding factor. He needs 3 - 4 at least before we truly have an idea of what is strategy is or indeed if he has one and then maybe he will deserve ridicule.
-
Say what you want he wasn't by any stretch of the imagination begging. He was stating the obvious, we should support the new manager and the team, wait a while to see if things improve or not, and if they don't then of course voice our displeasure. But many of us wanted a change and now weve got it, might not be what we wanted but you can be darn sure protesting ain't gonna chnage anything in the next few weeks, as like any business the board are going to want to see how thier new appointee performs and rightly so.
-
Well he speaks a hell of a lot clearer than his ex boss and for me he seems to have more steel about him. Time of course will tell but I for one hope at least for the next few games we as fans get behind him, if things don't improve then we've nothing to lose and criticsm will be justified. As for the Svensson appointment that is meant to appiase the fans and of course as he's drawing a wage why not use him in some capacity rather than him just sitting on the side lines.
-
Well this is it, the decision on whom to appoint will be IMO the most important in the past decade. Get it wrong and were doomed, get it right and who knows we may stay up, gates increase and the sun shines! Who ever it is has to have credibility, I hate to say it but like Burley...but of course not like Burley, if you know what I mean?

Demonstration for Swansea game- Time and place!!

Whilst I applaud the aim, I suspect it will not only be pointless but also not well attended, and by that I mean I don't expect to see thousands. In which case were SFC to react you can be sure it will be something along the lines of "we recognise diffcult times, but clearly have support of majority of fans as shown by poor support for protest". The ONLY way to really make an impression is not to renew season tickets..simple. This would induce panic amongst shareholders and of course was RL to depart fans could simply pay on the gate, which in fact if all current season tickets holders did this the income of course would be greater for the club. End of problem. -
What this is all about for Rupes and understandably so, is personal pride, I suspect money and personal profit play only a peripheral role. We need to remember he was once in charge of a respected, relatively successful club, he sat on various committees within the game, had a media presence and commanded respect, not necessarily praise but respect. Clearly when falling from such a height as he has, to where he and the club are now why would he not want to climb his way back up? I suspect he was probably not that popular amongst his fellow chairman, when he was at his zenith, there were still men at that time from the old school in charge of clubs, who were in the main philanthropists, not looking to make a profit but rather had an attachment to their club and community, which was something Rupes couldn't say. I think Rupes simply wants to be able to say he rescued the club and be able to leave, when ever that time comes, on a high, back on equal terms with his fellow club owners, who now are in fact cut from the same cloth as him, as in no real attachment with the club but instead looking to boost ego and reputation. It’s a common human failing that we don’t know when to leave the stage
-
THAT is exactly what his removal (term it how you want) was about, what we the fans and I suspect the players wanted, direction, assertiveness and authority was not what Rupes would want to be dealing with on a daily business. Pearson was a players manager and not something Rupes would have been able to compete with on his limited knowledge of the game. Its all about egos i'm afraid.

Well if there was a time to get rid of JP, this was it, with the two week break. It's now time to don the life jackets, get up on deck and see if we hit the fast approaching iceberg that is relegation, or if we just scrap by and survive!

Typical posts from some realy thickies on here I would suggest et al Lordswoodsaints, ivangolac, . If you "hard cases" would just watch the game and not start giving it out, you wouldn't get hurt. If you ain't happy with the standard of stewarding, do something positive and apply to join, albeit the two aforementioned idiots would probably be wasting their time, judging by the poor standard of their postings. I have been going for 30+ plus years, my mates the same and how often have we had a scrap with stewards...never, why? cos they are there to do a job, which centres around public safety and public order. So as far as i'm concerned if you are going to gob off at them don't come winging on here if you get a slap instead go home to mummy, if you happen to know who she is!

One thing that struck me during the match was at one point, BWP was addressd by Jan from the sidelines and from where I sat you could tell that BWP couldn't understand what he was saying. Now wether that was because he didn't understand the tactics (who does, he's not alone) or because he's not too bright and iv'e no reason to think he doesn't understand the simple rudiments of footie. Rather I suspect as I did at the time from BWP reaction, that the accent was giving him problems. It certainly does me as I listen to Jan on the airwaves, I can honestly say after the first sentance the rest is as they say double dutch ..pun intended.

Now come on Robbie, whilst I can concur with the view that RL is a major problem for the club, lets be very clear those that cause trouble have to accept responsbility for thier actions. Of the thousands present it was a minority that decided to kick off, hopefully they fought amongst themselves but it certainly won't encourage unity either in the dressing room nor amongst the fans. No, the fact is those that start something would do at a tiddly winks match if they thought they had the backing and numbers, football per se isn't the issue for them, it's more image and peer pressure. Oh and the fact they are tw*ts!
-
I was some rows behind with my teenage son, saw exactly what you did, a tw*t named Steve and his boyfriend somewhere around row AA and seats 260 - 264. First they start on the granny, then on the middle aged guy with his family, finally walk up the steps to confront another middle aged bloke with his wife and offered him out. Noticable how selective they were on NOT picking out those that would have given em something back. Talk about pathetic, anyway the stewards have thier seats and one of the females stewards, who was useless, knew them personally so fingers crossed they'll be out for a while. If it wasn't for the fact one was a 50+ with a perma tan and his ***** a fat bas**rd, I think others might have been tempted to have a go at them but hey who wants to get banned.....seconds thought might be the preferential option at the moment.
-
You are the reason this forum should have an over 18's criteria so that twa**ish kids like you can't get involved. I don't often feel that certain members should be banned but resorting to pro nazis sentiment really is the stuff of morons.

Clearly you didn't catch the commentery. Merrington said throughout that McG was poor, not trying or at least didn't seem to be in the game whereas again he consistantly made the point Saga never stopped trying, just didn't have the support. To Merrington's credit he didn't change his opinion once we scored either. The fact the header was a sitter shouldn't bolster McG place in the side, he needs to show he can be a part of the team and thus work for the team. I wonder with more effort if he could have had more than the one?

Well all u ard uns, all mouth no trousers!! My 22 yr old went with his younger brothers, leaping up every time Man U scored as did loads of others around him. Not a squeak from those that were "gonna do em" ala Romsey Saint, Derry etc I agreed with him that these computer warriors are just that!

I think it's about time Kelvin did what was best for him and get out whilst he can. Today was a shop window and if others hadn't realised already he is and has been for some time a class act. So for the sake of his career, family and pension Kelvin if you are reading this, you did your best but sometimes a man has to do what a man has to do ...leave us to sink.
-
Just to be quite clear I didn't go today as I simply wasn't prepared to pay that much for a ticket and instead allowed my three boys to go instead, two of whom are Man U and the other staunch Saints. Having watched in on Setanta which is a first for me, I thought we were at best poor and Man u played in second or third gear. As usual we played in the first 15 mins some good possesion but yet again without any bite. The foul was a sending off, the penalty I still can't decide about but your an idiot frankly if you raise your hand so I guess on that basis it was always likely to happen and as for the first goal?, marginally off side but still we as usual couldn't clear a table never mind our own lines. All in all what a load of rubbish and i am sooooooooo glad I didn't go. Oh yeah, my boys left early due to boredom setting in.
-
Be warned if u do try it on you'll suffer...nuff said!

I don't claim to have the business acumen of R L (thank god i'm in public service) nor the coaching ability of Jan ( I am willing for the time being to credit him with some) but it's abundently clear what we need. It's been mentioned on here in one form or another over these past few years. We need some hard men, leaders, call them what you will but we need someone on the flippin pitch who's going to kick both ours and the opposition arses when needed. Someone who the youngsters can look to when the going gets tough (most games at the mo) and lean on to give the opposition some stick, a la a Casey type etc. The boys have the skill, some lovely passing movement but when it comes down to it the the defender in front of them couldn't give a s**t he's gonna simply kick them off the ball as so often I have witnessed. An investment in the right type of player might, and I say might make all the difference!

This is it, one way or another this game with the current scores for Charlton and Co, has the potential to be a season decider. We win we can build on it, we lose, fall into the bottom three and prepare to struggle for the remainder of the season.

Would you BOYCOTT? Ways to get rid of Lowe and the board
chi saint replied to Wes Tender's topic in The Saints
If and it's a pretty big IF things are going to happen whether it be a boycott, walk out, mass pitch invasion etc it really needs to be during a televised game. Simple! Then and only then would the wider media possibly take an interest and in turn would the pressure mount on Rupes and the board. Otherwise any action is going to be reported third hand and would be seen as a local problem and one which could be quickly forgotten. -

Whilst I appreciate this is a very active forum, I think any boycott would need to be managed via the media eg Echo and so therefore be well publicised. Undoubtably as a result Lowe and Co would summon all there PR resources in terms of 'stay aways' letting the club down. I don't doubt he would seek to undermine such a protest with a play on our feelings of guilt...at least my feelings anyway ha ha -
Understand completely where u r coming from my middle son of 14 is Saints through and through, as opposed to his brothers who's grandad converted them to Man U. I must say i'm surprised after all the disappointment he's experienced i'm surprised he's stuck with them, especially with the ribbing he gets at school. Still i'm confident having been thro so much he's now firmly infected with Saintitus and can't be cured!

Whilst relegation is certainly not yet a certainty, I was thinking that if we did go down for some strange reason I wouldn't be half as upset as I was when we left the premiership, I wonder if other feel the same. In fact whilst I of course want us to stay up a part of me says "serves you right Saints".
