  1. I was fairly sure it was put in as a provision so that teams relegated twice in 4 years couldn't just outspend all of League One due to having an extra 8 or 16m...the fact that no-one else has heard of it makes me doubt myself now, apologies if mistaken - something I've accepted as fact long enough to be unable to recall where I first heard it. Sorry!
  2. Just to note, parachute payments get reduced significantly (to about 1/4 of their value) if the club falls to League One, so better for him if they stay up if he wants to get in for the payments! The fact that he isn't getting involved to help them stay up is what makes me think even Chinny's given up on saving them.
  3. Got to love comment 4 there - not sure a sell-on clause will do them much good if they don't make it to next season!
  4. Think we'll slip into play-offs behind Birmingham, but Adkins will inspire us through the play-offs to win in a penalty shoot-out 4-3 over Blackpool in the final after a 1-1 draw. Puncheon to score winning penalty.
  5. Fantastic news, we've missed Chaplow's energy in hassling players and bursts into the box to meet crosses and passes so badly! I can't wait to see him back fully fit and in the league soon!
  6. I wouldn't - who would want to watch any part of that game twice?
  7. Happy with a point, disappointed with the lack of shots, but if you'd offered me second place at the start of the day, I'd have taken it happily. Excellent game from Martin, he's filled in brilliantly, thought everyone else did about as well as they could in the conditions. Silly red, but no idea why Fox bothered to put his arm out to push Burke, was a needless foul, though never a yellow. Still, I'm happy - bring on the next game! Also, let's ignore that debut from Sharpe and wait till we see him in an actual game of football...
  8. It's still in place, think it is 37 league games now, not sure about all comps.
  9. 2 shots, 2 goals, no-one can say we're not taking our chances today!
  10. I quite like that one - understand where he's coming from as well, watching Tottenham yesterday just seemed to be watching a more skilled version of us, same type of play for the most part, which isn't what I'd say for most our opponents so far. Not saying we are PL quality, just that we try and play the way most teams in the PL are doing this season. I usually hover round the opposition's forums before and after each game, but Peterborough don't seem to have many fans who post anything!
  11. I knew someone would do that as soon as I re-read the title, and I'm not exactly stunned it was you I reckon Coventry will take a point off us, and Brighton and Hull worry me a little, but I just think we have enough to get past them.
  12. 11 from 15 in October, certainly a happy month, and against some tough teams - November on the other hand actually looks (on paper) a little easier; Peterborough - 12th (H) Coventry - 22nd (A) Brighton - 10th (H) Bristol City - 24th (A) Hull - 6th (H) Without wanting to curse us, I'd say they were all winnable games - I fancy us against anyone at home now, and the only away games being against sides in the relegation zone sounds good as well. I'm probably buoyed far too much by optimism from today, but could well fancy us to pick up 13 points and really put some distance between us and 3rd this month!
  13. I'd be reckoning 1-0 - our defence has been pretty solid lately, I fancy us to win, but can't see us breaching Boro too often! I'd start with De Ridder on the bench, think he is best as an impact sub. Depending on Adam's fitness, I'd go with; Guly-Hammond-Chaplow-Lallana, Guly-Hammond-Cork-Chaplow. Give Connolly benefit of the doubt up front, but pull him and Guly off on 60/65 minutes for SDR and Barnard and I'd be happy!
  14. Didn't play well, reading were the best team I've seen so far in this league, and very happy with a point - sdr was superb. Got to express some anger at the commentary team though, hugely biased - I think we definitely should've had a peno first half, they scarcely mentioned it and we only got one, full speed, replay of what I thought was a major incident! Still win at home, draw away, top of the league, no complaints!
  15. Thanks very much! Was going to head over to the maypole and ask them, if not, I'll be the one sitting in Jesus green watching it on my phone!
  16. I'm stuck in Cambridge today, anyone know a pub that will be showing the game here?

  18. 32151 according to the internet...knew I should have gone tonight!
  19. Got Wigley in charge at Bristol City and Gray at Pompey now, anyone placing bets on where the Dutch duo will show up to join the party?
  20. Surprised noone has mentioned Ben Reeves yet, thought he looked pretty handy in his game against PNE - generally just nice to have this much trust in our academy to produce championship or premiership level footballers, wonder how many other fans have that.
  21. Hope I'm not making myself look stupid by having mistaken him - haven't seen replays yet. For their first goal, fox just left the goalscorer as he ran on, far too slow tracking back. For the 2nd, he was a yard or so behind the rest of the defence, which they exploited as he played their two guys onside. Great tackle on miller, good crossing, good dribbling, average passing, but simply abysmal positioning - got to hope the coaches can fix that quickly, or he'll cost us plenty of goals! If they do, he could be very good. Judging just from one game of course!
  22. Got to say I disagree with op - he started well, but never seemed to track runners, so didn't do anything to stop the 2 goals, and let miller and others away several times with a poor turning speed and awareness. As well as heading backwards or straight up - probably a but rusty from not playing much, very much hope he improves, but he wasn't very good today.
  23. Agree with lallana I suppose, but guly chased back more than ever today - was back with cork almost every time there was trouble. His skill lead to our first two goals too, thought it was one of his best games for us. Also thought Connolly was really poor today, not sure if that was just me - control, shooting and running all just slightly off compared to his usual.
  24. On my way back now - really poor defensively. Fox refused to play lb, their right winger always had space to cross. Hoovied wasn't great either, and we having cork in the middle. That said, Hammond and lambert were brilliant, and guly and lallana were really good as well. Not sure we deserved it, but got the win, so happy enough - got to sort out the defence though!
  25. But once a team has lost two in a row at home, the probability of them losing three in a row are basically the same as of them losing any given home game? And ditto for winning 12 in a row once you've won 11!
