  1. Unbelievable isn’t it? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-65540838 Sheri Strain though - great name
  2. Only Jan, Lyanco, Stu, Alcaraz put in any kind of shift there. AMN rightly getting stick but how bad were Che, ABK and sad to say, JWP? ABK is the by far the shittiest CB in our top flight history playing a decent number of games for Saints unlike Marshall or Davenport who were cameo/bit part although two bit as well. As someone else posted, heart of a pea and can’t wait to see the back of him as well as 80% of the other imposters. We’ve had some not great CBs but at least the rest tried to play more than 30 minutes and could play on with a chipped fingernail. As long as Lyanco can tolerate the broken finger, I’d rather see him last 3 games. The lad has some backbone at least. Diallo - why is our worst ever top flight CM still appearing? At least Quashie could score the odd goal. Adam Armstrong - Ipswich cannot seriously think he’s better than Ladapo. Che - give Ballard a game, didn’t compete all game. Their Centre Half May as well as read a Kindle all night.
  3. ABK had been hovering around my worst ever top flight Saints XI for players who appeared for a decent sample size of games. Tonight he’s booked his place, a hapless CB made of glass, Daren Powell for the 2020s. He might make an excellent player later in his career but a very poor player now and delighted when he moves on. AMN is poor but fish up a tree at LB. Midfield so lightweight again.
  4. Different leagues though, AA in a long line of strikers scoring loads at Champ level and disappearing at PL. Rhodes and Billy Sharp scored millions at that level, Billy at least had a couple of seasons as a PL squad player for Sheffield Utd and still would have been better than Mayuka, but wasn’t really regular PL starter calibre. Mara’s first season and whilst it looks like the club had their pants pulled down at over £10m, he has some pace and ability in the air, some handy cameos, if he can finish he could be a surprise package. Equally, he may disappear. Did any of us think Tella would be Champ player of the season?
  5. Yep, if they follow the anti-Sunak voices eg Truss at al and the IEA/Taxpayers Alliance/Tufton blob, they will end up sub-150 seats and possibly not much over 100 at the next and future GEs. The ex-Labour Brexit voters won’t want that stuff, they didn’t 40 years ago and it decimated their communities. Rishi is their only route to limiting the damage and getting back in a few years.
  6. Well done Bassett for going Lib Dem. Harefield like Sholing has had a touch of the Hyacinth Bouquets. Millbrook and Peartree also elected the other three Tory councillors, although Peartree two-thirds non Tory now so getting there. Millbrook must be glutton for punishment.
  7. And Sholing elected 33% of the Tory councillors. Has it had huge levelling up funds to improve it since I last visited friends and family (most of which have escaped by now) or is it just severely right wing? It’s like Saints fans thinking they should be top 4 every season, Bassett they ain’t.
  8. Was a bit like it with Salford City, Class of 92 etc and a documentary there too. Wrexham a more historic club and representing north Wales so some differences. Salford bobbing around the L2 play off places and not quite as big a media draw as they were, but better that than a Yeovil rise to the Champ, narrow relegation and rapid drop to Conference South. If I was a Wrexham fan, and I’d watch them stagnate in non league for 15 years, I would welcome all of the attention.
  9. People have tried to explain this to him before. There’s a world of difference between say Dianne Abbott or Jeremy Corbyn, and say Ed Davey or Alan Johnson, same as there is in Conservative terms between say Greg Clark or Chris Skidmore, and Suella Braverman/Nadine Dorries.
  10. Great game, really does reinforce that the SFC players really didn’t try a leg this season allied to a shit ‘playbook’ and three crap, scared managers. Everton look the better side but awful at the back, reminds me of some of the 2004/5 games this. Look at Maddison encouraging their fans to crank the noise up some more. Whilst our fans get kicked out of their most popular areas of the stadium and nothing to gee us up or inspire urgency on the pitch whatsoever. SFC is truly a dying club.
  11. Spot on. If we get someone who understands either English game and/or the Championship - Cooper, Benitez, Gerrard, Nuno - they won’t need telling about importance of building a spine, just like we did with that L1 squad - Jaidi, Hammond, Chaplow, Lambert, Fonte, Connolly. They’re football people and they get it. Any more clever shit though and it’ll straight down back to League One.
  12. Agree with this, and we mustn’t forget the gross mismanagement went back to 2016 with first Les, and then Semmens which let an owner who failed even a flimsy FPPT into the PL. The important thing is what happens next - Wilcox needs to be hiring one of three groups of managers to repair some of the damage and inject forward momentum: - Proven at the Champ level - Cooper, or Benitez (Warnock too old) - A Kompany type name with some experience and great contacts book (Gerrard, Rooney, Vieira but not Lampard. PV it could be with Wilcox) - Or a newly qualified coach with both playing gravitas to reconnect with the fans eg Lallana or Fonte Any more ‘clever’ shit from Rasmus and the club will lose 10k active fans overnight.
  13. Good riddance, one the shittiest CMs the club has ever had at any level and a serious contender for worst XI. Would be equally crap in the Championship. I know it was a downer Sangare not qualifying for a WP but pure desperation to buy this fraud as a consolation prize. Even more staggering Romeu was let go and retained this chump. Sums up this squad bar JWP, KWP and Lavia, maybe Che on his day, the rest aren’t anywhere near good enough of a club of Saints stature. What did this waster cost? Was it £12m or £14m? Scouting team should be shot for that. Moussa cost that, also a terrible player but at least he tries, unlike this nonentity. I’d actually forgotten he even still played for Saints until the article above. Never really worked what he was - too lightweight for DMC, can’t tackle, gives the ball away constantly/can’t pass and little offensive threat. Quite quick but without football attributes, physical strength or game awareness it’s irrelevant.
  14. Disney suing DeSantis https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-65405312 What a shitshow the Republicans are in, and on the other side a past-it Joe Biden nominated. Americans bring so much of it on themselves but even I don’t envy those choices. Boris/Corybn/Swinson/Sturgeon in 2019 GE was bad enough
  15. Both Abbott and Bridgen are like half-volleys from a despised opposing bowler in the Ashes for Starmer and Sunak respectively, happily pushed down the ground for a boundary with minimal effort. Disturbing that they were ever seen fit to be MPs in the first place, reassuring that they both have have had whip withdrawn/expelled, which is inevitable with Dianne Abbott as well. Hopefully some sort of common sense is slowly (very slowly returning). Braverman next hopefully after she has an outburst post Cabinet (with her potty mouth, only a matter of time) to join Bridgen, Abbott and Corbyn in the political wilderness.
  16. Whoever made this decision must have been out of their mind. Second highest paid player behind JWP - what planet have the buffoons running SFC been on? Shows it’s not just Rasmus as this fuck up was in 2021 and the club didn’t even announce it from what I recall. Hope Wilcox can restore some common sense and some grounded thinking.
  17. This situation is worth keeping an eye on. Ryan Manning good LB/LWB at that level who can play midfield as well. Piroe one of the better forwards https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/65362275 Matt Grimes I’ve always liked but his contract may have longer to run
  18. Far right Fox News facing an even bigger lawsuit https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-65328457 Quite a dilemma - carry on telling whopping lies to retain their frothing at the mouth Trump voters or risk losing some of them to other far right channels.
  19. Disgraceful comments and very hypocritical. She hasn’t got a clue about anti-semitism. That’s her finished in mainstream politics, an unforced error and a gift for Starmer. That sad little boy Owen Jones who follows her and Corbyn around will hopefully exit stage far left as sick of him as well. Dreaded it every time she got up to speak in the HoC same as I do with Braverman.
  20. Their front page about Sunday’s emergency alert test on Thursday was even more foolish. Why do they think Conservative governments 40 years apart are running those sort of exercises or making public information films about what to do? Clue for the Mail - it’s to do with a specific threat to the east of the UK from a rogue nation beginning with ‘R’ which has something potentially catastrophic it could use beginning with an ‘N’. I know their journalists are bitter about not taking up a good trade or getting into a top University but surely they can’t be as stupid as today’s and Thursday’s front pages. Interesting snippet in the DT - seems his attempt to place active British troops permanently in Gibraltar during Brexit talks in late 2020 caused some concern with the Uk ambassador to Spain and it appears left some seeds of doubt about Raab’s judgement. Mail readers are a funny bunch though - some of my older family have it delivered and are Lib Dem/Remain voters like me. Ditto the Telegraph and Liberal Dems. Other members have the Mirror and vote Conservative. Others have the Sun and vote Labour. Go figure!
  21. Good riddance to them as well. Skidmore to be fair has pulled away from the extremist group over time and become more progressive and bright, although hasn’t got the best record as a finisher of initiatives and made a fuck up by backing Truss over Sunak. The other four deserve all of the piss taking and derision coming their way. Failed people, failed ideas. Thatcherism but without the positive bits and a capable single person between four of them to design and deliver an effective agenda which global markets and publics would ever support (as Truss and Kwarteng spectacularly showed). To be fair to Maggie, she was a pragmatist when needed and until 1988 or so had decent political instincts eg NHS is safe with us. These poundshop imitations wouldn’t understand it. Mind you, that article does have some contradictions in it. Firstly, BU talked about not caring about shares of the pie or differences between regions - and then the author says the Johnson government was all about implementing those principles. That’s at odds with the levelling up agenda for example. So agree with overall messaging but question some of the details. The Scots also have their own turmoil with the implosion of the SNP, another group of single issue extremists focused on nationalism.
  22. Here’s the report if anyone has time to look https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1152026/2023.04.20_Investigation_Report_to_the_Prime_Minister.pdf It’s a tricky one about these type of cases, and there can be malicious complaints against managers/senior managers (having investigated them independently). Don’t believe that’s the case here, probably some misunderstandings in tone and language but if he’s used phrases such as ‘useless’ or ‘woeful’ in public/meetings as is being reported then that’s an unarguable breach of the ministerial code even with the Minister-CS relationship being different. Gavin Williamson example was worse than Raab though.
  23. Whoops - Murdoch had to settle out of court for an eye watering $800m to one of the vote machine firms for broadcasting false claims on behalf of Trump and the Republicans about voter fraud. Given most of their viewers have got an IQ of a goldfish I doubt if viewer figures will fall but a nasty shock for Rupert. Lesson - don’t collaborate with fascist Presidents.
  24. Yep. Unless Foster reverses his retirement then Wrexham might be a good place to send Bazanu next season. Not good enough for L1 at the moment, we had Kelvin at that level and several other keepers were miles better than Bazanu is now. Two season loan and he might regain a bit of confidence to at least resume an EFL career or higher end non league.
