  1. I think he's an excellent little player but not being helped out by those around him. To make JP's system work, players need to MOVE as well as pass. After Ipswich scored, that stopped happening and SG's options were limited.
  2. Well said. Dodgy overseas money has destroyed English football and I'm sick of it. Where would Chelsea be without Roman A - in administration in 2003 is the answer. I would never not support the club regardless of who is in charge - I even went when Branfoot was manager - but I do want Askham out of the club totally as he has been so destructive and left us in the current mess where we cannot attract the investment to survive even as a sustainable CCC-level club.
  3. Good, bright start but wobbled after the Ipswich goals alarmingly. It might have been good fortune for our equaliser but Pekhart stuck it away well and must start at the weekend surely? Not the worst result BUT WE MUST WIN V BARNSLEY. Barnsley is a watershed - win and I think these lads might grow in confidence and maturity, if we draw or lose, we are already behind the 8-ball and there aren't any MLTs, Kenny Monkou's or Mark Hughes's to guide these lads in a relegation battle as we had in the 1990s. Wilde and Lowe need to leave Jan and Mark to it now and focus 100% on bringing investors in asap. Without that or a full takeover, the academy will have to be slashed in size - people don't seem to realise how much it costs and that the youth policy a short-term fix - and our debt level may force us into adminstration, possibly even pre-XMAS I'm told. Investment might reduce the hostility from sections of the fanbase towards Mike and Rupert and bring at least some of the missing fans back. Without it, I cannot be sure we will still be in business at the end of season.
  4. I don't doubt that he's an unpleasant man GM for a moment and there's no freeckin way that he's going to get £481m for that Geordie shower with no land or development potential around it. Nevertheless, think what £100m would have done at SFC? Newcastle were highly likely to be fighting administration and were struggling to service their debts when Ashley came in and they can't say that now. Lowe is the front man here, he's acting to protect a 6% investment and I've no gripes with that, it's old man Askham who's put in erm, erm, erm, nothing and taken a lot out, mostly at our (the fans) expense. Mugs like us GM that drive in from meetings around the region for midweek games and pee yet more bad cash into that scumbag's pockets. I do take your point on baord and there's a lot of merit in it but you can't compare Ashley to our lot. Rupert and Cowan are the only ones who have amde anything of themselves - compare it to Wiseman who was booted out of the FA for dodgy expenses. Must have learned that after years in the same boardroom as Askham. Ashley will flog it if he can for about £300m. I don't like the guy or any of the billionaires that have turned the national game into a chav's bling playground GM but Newcastle haven't done that badly out of him.
  5. Talking out of your arse Sundance - need to do a bit better than that son. Mike Ashley has put SIGNIFICANT MONEY into NUFC which is why I have empathy with him and cleared NUFC's debts. Yes, he's being badly advised but even so, some of the Toon Army should pull their head in. Rupert and Secure Retirement did to their credit clear a £3m overdraft which was a legacy of awful mismanagement by Askham, who was too busy with his hand in the till. There's been no further investment after that brought in though so Lowe is effectively an employee and there whilst Mike Wilde as the major shareholder wants him there. Wilde is in financial trouble but even so, we're bottom of the league so Rupert's proxy come into play. It's Rupert's proxy, not Rupert, that many of us are opposed to Sundance, let me make that crystal clear. Lowe is only the figurehead really and not a major player here. I am horrified to discover that Askham is involved again, a man who steals shares from the dead and put nil into the club and has made millions whilst the club have struggled. Whilst Askham is involved, I cannot see Saints being in business at the end of the season I'm afraid given his appalling track-record and I haven't even come on to Branfoot and the huge payoff Branfoot and his awful signings got which crippled us for years! If Mike Ashley wanted to buy us, I'd drive him to SMS to sign the deal in person. Askham and Richards = scum. Askham OUT!!!
  6. Which is why I can't give Lowe and Wilde my backing I'm afraid. Saints will not the same club again until Askham is gone, lock, stock and barrel. I'd rather start again like Aldershot than have Guy the crook involved.
  7. I was involved in a very minor accident when someone clipped me in Sussex on Friday. His car is hardly damaged at all (VW Golf) but my Focus has a shallow but long dent in the rear offside door and a scuffed alloy. I'm not fussed about the alloy but the door probably needs doing but my local Ford dealer wants £700 - they used to be good but are asking huge money because I bought it from Hendy's in Cosham and not them. Anyone have any suggestions on a decent but better value place that does repairs?
  8. Claridge is actually very fair about SFC for the most part so would be surprised if he had said something different. He's a skate I respect. If you want commentators that hate us - Alan Green 5 Live. In fact, Green hates every club outside of the top 4 in rhe PL and I wouldn't be surprised if he has a **** when Liverpool score. He rants incessently - not my type of commentator at all. Martin Tyler is more my sort of commentator - let's the game do the talking whilst Andy Gray - another knob like Green - sits there and rants ****e. I can't stand Gray - he was a vastly overrated player and used to give Matty a coating despite the fact MLT was scoring 25 goals a season from midfield in some awful teams. **** - MLT might well have been lazy Gray wasn't fit to lace his boots even so. The best commentator across all sports was Richie Benaud in cricket.
  9. I don't think Rupert is evil or wants the club to fail at all - it knackers his investment. Ditto Wilde although Lowe looks like a genius compared to poor old Mike. Askham and Wiseman are actually close to being evil - claiming to be supporters whilst selling the club down the river to become even more wealthy after they put NIL into SFC. Read the book Broken Dreams and you'll see what I mean. That's where my bile goes, those two plus Richards are vile scum and worse than Lowe will ever be in my book. I'm not pro-Rupert either but know that Askham is the most destructive figure ever to set foot inside my club and SMS should be disinfected thoroughly if the scheming, grasping old b@stard sets foot in there again.
  10. Brilliant group and superb musician. A complete one-off band and those who got tickets for Live 8 that are fellow Floyd fans were very, very lucky indeed. RIP Rick for your Great Gig in the Sky.
  11. See what you are saying Navyred and the reality is you are right but it is gutting watching the young lads getting mugged in an alley-cat league. I just can't see us picking up enough win to compete and the lads need help. An experienced manager would help them for a start but we can't afford his relocation expenses, let alone salary!
  12. I agree with you Nick but the club is over-valued and as awful an option it is - and it would be awful - admin would be the only way to resolve the share deadlock but then you risk not having an SFC at all. I'm only passing on what I've heard from good sources and the board are pretty desperate and that admin is seriously being mooted if results don't pick up. I think JP's tactics have been shocking in the last 2 games but who else would improve things on the pitch? I really fear for this club's future right now. LC does take some of the blame too, costs should have been cut much earlier but the overheads were always going to be unsustainable once the parachute money ran out.
  13. Fair play to you Nick, respect what you've said. I'm not rabidly anti-Lowe but we need some clout in the boardroom (financially) to stay out of administration and some more in the dug-out to stay in the CCC. Little evidence of either. The lino wasn't clever but you still have to play to the whistle and let's face it, Blackpool should have scored 4 or 5 in the second half in the last match. I did get my hopes up after Derby and Brum but typical weak Saints really. New ownership is the only thing that might give us a football club again, let alone unlock it's potential. Very sad day typing this.
  14. Going down on that evidence I'm afraid and that of Blackpool game. Terrible defending, particularly after a well-worked goal to get level and our back 4 should have been shot for that 2nd goal alone. WTF was Lancashire thinking as well? Investors required and fast - can you honestly Nick H, Le Goddard and others tell us that we've progressed with Scooby's golden duo returning? At least Scoobs has a sense of humour. We've got the debt down but we aren't a sustainable League 1 club, unless we sell the stadium and sell Staplewood for housing. Wilde - if you are genuinely a fan, give up your shares and get the club out of this mess. They will be worth nothing in May at this rate anyway.... £3m in investment from the board over the last 2 decades - simply not enough when the Dell and SMS have had largely good gates. If the rumours I've heard from the local business community are true, we may well be in administration before the end of October and take the -15. Let's hope Lowe and Wilde get some competition and don't get to repeat their mistakes. I would feel very sorry for all the local businesses, particularly in a declining economy.
  15. Australia - going there and NZ for my own honeymoon in March/April. The Great Barrier reef is awesome and you and Mrs Marsdinho could sail around the Whitsunday Islands and snorkel in some of the best waters on earth and then relax on the world's finest beaches. Alternatively, if you want few Americans, try the British Virgin Islands and Virgin Gorda in particular. Ok, not a huge amount to do apart from Tortola (which does have some things to keep you amused) but the beaches are in the world's top 10 as above and the snorkelling at the Baths is awesome.
  16. Get in! After the awful start, this is far,far more than we could have hoped for. The announcement of Terry's departure may be sheer coincidence but it does correlate with a massive surge of good results.
  17. 139/8 with just 10 and 11 to come. Tremlett is cleaning up the tail beautifully after Dimi's mean spell accounted for Surrey's top order. Get Tahir on at the other end to bowl at Shoaib, he might hit him for a six but Tahir will get rid of him as Shoaib will play shots, can't see him blocking the crap out of it to save Surrey somehow. Collins is a rabbit as well.
  18. Will watch via VM On-demand tonight but it defies belief. That said, you get nutcases that hang around disaster zones pretending to be doctors and officials but this woman might have gotten away with it 25 years ago. With 24 hour media and the internet though, she was always going to be exposed eventually. Can't imagine she's too popular in her NYC district! I saw the previous one on the Marriott Hotel beneath the WTC and I was thinking "why didn't you evacuate the hotel immediately?". Trouble is, no-one thought it would collapse but the lack of masonary and the steel construction used meant it was cost-effective to build at that height but could never have withstood a white hot fire like that. The Empire State Building would have been gutted but would have stood and has more fire stairs which is a lesson high-rise builders need to observe, and not just seek to maximise rentable floor space. That said, no-one really knew what impact 2 huge jets with full tanks of fuel would have so it's harsh to blame anyone but NYCFD did rate the towers as very dangerous when they were built in the early 70s.
  19. My neighbour has a 3-legged cat and it's actually quite quick! Should I send JP e-mail and see my neighbour will do us favour on Sunday? It can't be any worse than Jakobsson or Davenport were in 2004/5! At least it'll defend it's/Saints territory quite well.
  20. Newman is playing strokes which gives us a chance.
  21. Given he's just got out cheaply I share your confusion Steve! Ramps is the key player to get out if we are going to force a victory. I can't understand Surrey though, not only have they brought in 2-has beens in Akhtar and Tudor but they gave Hants a great pitch to bat on when they need a result. If I were Alan Butcher, I'd have told the Groundsman - "find us the most worn and used pitch you can on the square" and then played 2 spinners and the quicks would have had uneven-ish bounce. OK, you might struggle Vs Tahir and even a worn Oval pitch would give you a good chance of 300+ but if they didn't win it was game over anyway - not that I care from a Hants perspective but counties are a strange bunch.
  22. Cottage is near where some of my family live - it is a decent pub that one. Hamble has some decent ones as well - I like the King & Queen. Better than any of the old crud on Hayling although I've just bought my tickets for the Ale-ing Festival in October which has cheered me up a bit!

What astonishes me is that you get these old ladies in places like Antwerp and Ghent drinking it in cafes at 10.30am and it's gorgeous but not called the `Devil` for nothing! World class beer although Maredsous is just as good when it's been aged for 18 months or so, I opened a Maredsous 8 that I'd put down since 2006 and it was just wonderful. I've got a Rochefort 10 that I bought in 2003 still maturing nicely...
  24. Agree, they only do it to wind people up, Sussex roads are awful for it. Tractors are even coming into city centres now which in places like Chichester is stupid. Mopeds do my head in as well - they should be banned by law from fast roads like A27, as should pedal cyclists who should stick to the A259.
  25. Have to use the Sussex A27 and it's populated by idiots, plus it needs proper bypasses at Chichester, Arundel, Worthing and another one at Bedingham. Awful road. A3 is a nicer road but hate having to go on the M27 anywhere near rush hour, particularly the Southampton sections which will remain a nightmare until SCC gets off it's lazy carrot-crunching arse and raises external funding to build the light railway the city has needed for 30+ years. A3 and A272 are my way of escaping the hell of the M3 South and normally I;m fine if I'm heading North after that.
