Watched the Sheffield derby. With Weds one down mention was made how they were ‘having a right go’ trying to get back into it………a phrase never associated with Saints anymore sadly.

So given our stats this season every time we go 1 nil down (which is most weeks) we have to score just under a third of our season total to then win the game, assuming we don’t concede again. To put that in context it’s like saying if Liverpool go a goal down, using the same percentages, then to win they have to score 6. Quite simply it’s not happening and as soon as we concede it’s as good as game over.

‘Martin frustrated after ‘impossible’ Saints defeat’ so says the BBC……….if he doesn’t get the fact that whatever the possession stats are if we have no shots on target then it doesn’t matter a jot and it’s a shocking indictment on how he sees the game. Unbelievable that he’s still in a job this morning. We will look back again at a season that could potentially have been saved with a management change but will leave us asking ‘what if’.

IIRC we could have salvaged the last Prem season when we appointed Jones and again when we appointed Selles. However on both occasions calamitous appointments cost us. It’s exactly the same now…….make the correct appointment and we may just have a fighting chance. If we’d have appointed Dyche instead of Jones we certainly wouldn’t have been at Wembley last season and would have probably had a couple of mid table finishes in the last couple of seasons.

I was at the game today. What I did note was that the outfield players only warmed up for 15 minutes on the turf. I know we lost FD pre KO. It just struck me as quite odd and a little unprofessional. The coach took as long putting out the cones

T minus 4 hours to KO and only 3 pages of pre match build up. Probably as good a barometer of the apathy we all feel as you’ll see.

I see the Brentford mantra is ‘how fast can we get the ball forward’. No wonder they are doing well and scoring goals. I just can’t fathom how RM thinks dilly dallying around with no tempo can be remotely successful with the players at his disposal. Pull the trigger now and put in place a manager that will play pragmatic football with the squad he has and I’m convinced we have a fighting chance of staying up.

Absolutely this………is it little wonder that the younger generation think such behaviour is acceptable when they see the supposed captain of their team speaking to people in authority in such a way? Teachers, Police Officers, firefighters, nurses the list goes on are abused on a daily basis because it seems to have become the norm that this sort of abuse is acceptable. Sorry but personally I think he should be stripped of the captaincy and got an even longer ban. RM talks about ‘bravery’……well Russ be brave and do the right thing.

I feel sorry for those that have spent their hard earned to go and watch this.

I can see the presser now…..’that was on me but it’s a tough league and we’re continuing to learn but we won the second half and that has to be a positive’…….blah blah blah

Tall Pall comes on, makes a nuisance of himself and scores the winner………..what does Russ do then? Hope him playing isn’t another ABK moment, although all windows are now shut I believe.

I honestly believe that if Pep suddenly decided that long ball with old fashioned crosses at every opportunity was the way forward the other ‘sheep’ managers like RM would adopt this tactic.
