  1. Saint……..I don’t necessarily agree with you. I remember the pain when we last went down (twice) but I do recall the two promotions, the JPT win, the elation of seeing us win, having the ability to compete (ultimately!) and being able to attract players like Ricky and Jose. When we bought the former for £1M it was more than what the rest of the league put together spent on transfers - we then followed that up with signing Jose for another decent sum. We were the Man City of L1 and I have to say it was fun. I recall going to Oldham on a wet cold winter night and seeing us dismantle them 6-0 - that night we had the likes of Ricky, Lallana, Morgan and AOC to name but a few. if we stay up (personally I don’t think we will) then next year will offer up much of the same as this season and we haven’t even touched on VAR. Im a Saints supporter. I want to see my team win and have that feel good factor at 5:50pm on a Saturday. I want to be able to afford to go to games, be able to get tickets when I want them and not to have a moment of celebration ruined by VAR. I’m not a fan of The Prem and quite frankly it’s too rich for us. Yes we’ll lose players if we go down but we lose them anyway as we always have done so nothing changes in that respect. I know opinions are split on this issue and I respect everyone’s view but in summary if we’re playing Championship football next season, as I believe we will be, but have the potential to be pushing top 6, then for me that will be more fun and far better than what I’ve been spending my hard earned cash on for the last few years.
  2. I’m just wondering at what point games become must win because it seems that every week posters are saying that a point isn’t a bad result. We’re playing WH, their form is dire, they’re in the mix with us, we’re bottom and we’re running out of games. So I’d respectfully argue that this is a 6 point must win game.
  3. It’s a bit like having a fantastic state of the art carbon fibre bike - ultimately it still has to be pedalled and I’m not sure whether a number of our squad have ever been on a bike
  4. We’re not staying up. Unfortunately the damage has been done and I don’t think this squad has the stomach for a proper relegation scrap. If we had the likes of MLT, Franny, Marion and The Football Genius to name but a few I would have believed in miracles!
  5. Unfortunately, like pretty much all other clubs, we have a moronic element to our fan base. I’ve witnessed it on a number of occasions away from home.
  6. For me RS offers pretty much more of the same. Simply put if we want to stay up we have to do things differently. Attacking sides, taking the game to the opposition and starting to be a little bit ‘horrible’. Certain players that are constantly picked, like ME don’t offer this. He may be a ‘safe’ player but at the moment we don’t need ‘safe’, we need game changers.
  7. We’re down. The only reason I say that is because we never start playing until it’s too late and never take the game to teams. If we’d done this post WC we’d have been okay. The WH game will be a rinse and repeat of Leeds and Brentford instead of saying ‘we’re in the mire let’s go at them from the off’
  8. I think you’ll find they’re getting relegated themselves!!
  9. I’m honestly astounded that anyone thought we’d score let alone win! Time to clear the decks ready for The Championship. I’d start with Selles as he’s done nothing to suggest he’s the right choice. Get the new man in if he’s available so he can cast his eye over the shambles of what will be left for next season.
  10. You say it’s crap but there’s a ‘spine’ to work with there if they are indeed here and players like Tella, Smallbone and Bree show their Championship credentials.
  11. I’ve just listened to RB’s Press Conference. I appreciate he has to toe the line, sound positive and not say anything controversial but if he really believes what he is saying then we may as well call it quits now on the rest of the season.
  12. Yes maybe a heat of the moment post to a degree. However his team selection leaves questions at times. Moi and Diallo? Maybe be braver and select two strikers when we need goals? There’s too much of a throwback to our play under Ralph.
  13. And there are those thinking Selles is the answer 🙄
  14. On a positive note Che has said things are more professional now and the players are doing things like turning up on time for training ……
  15. Newcastle at home in the 90’s? Flash and Shipperley
  16. 2 wins and 11 goals at home all season!!!
  17. Copy and pasted from every match thread this season by chance?
  18. Tells just grabbed his 15th of the season. I know that wouldn’t necessarily translate to goals in the Prem but we should have brought him back in January
  19. Wrong team selection Players can’t string passes together No shots on target ……………much of the same then? People were saying this wasn’t necessarily a must win game. I don’t buy that and I think tonight followed by Saturday will see us cut adrift.
  20. This seasons Carillo and a very poor man’s Peter Crouch. I doubt he will, but if he could give us half of what Crouchy did then maybe he was worth the fee.
  21. To a degree Fabrice I agree…..but at what point do we say a draw simply isn’t good enough? I think we’re there BIM how many games are left and that we’re coming off the back of good results. We need 4 points from the next two games.
  22. Like Leeds - where we wasted time from the off and created nothing tangible? A point isn’t good enough. It’s Brentford at home for goodness sake!! We’re running out of games so if people think a draw on Wednesday, after getting a point yesterday, is a decent result then we’re destined for The Championship.
  23. GB making any sort of save is up there with some of those worldly conundrums…………like how on earth did we do the double over Chelsea!
  24. I’ll have a bit of whatever you’re smoking please!!
