The thing is while awards are good for a players morale and its nice for them to get recognition they deserve. We don't really need him to receive a trophy to know how good he is. We know what he does every week. Plus its sort of a good thing as it keeps the attention off him from other clubs he might have an eye on him.

oh well next season then

Looks like its going to be one of those nights again. Come on Saints sort it out!!!

Winning the cup was definitely a team effort but Papa's goals were the all important goals. Two goals against Torquay in the first round which literally saved our bacon and got us to the penalty shoot out. I remember posting on here when we were 2 down "so much for making Wembley" as it looked lost. I think the most important goal which even the commentary teams from both Sky and the BBC forgot was his last grasp equaliser against Norwich. I really did think we were out of the cup that night. Norwich were just hitting the form which has since taken them to the top of the league. We were not at our best. I remember thinking its definitely over as Norwich were trying to waste time in the corner of the pitch up Saints end when suddenly Saints broke up field and up popped papa with pretty much the last kick of the match. Its an obvious thing to say but I'll say it anyway without that goal in that particular moment it was over. Papa's Wembley goal pretty much killed off Carlisle, and although it could not have been an easier chance for him, his performance over the whole tournament deserved it. He may be a frustrating player sometimes with his tendency to get caught offside and not quite being the finished player we would all like him to be but you have to give it to him over the performance of this cup. Without him we would not have our first piece of silverware in over 30 years. Although he doesn't always shine in the league this has definitely been his tournament. It was great to see him enjoying the moment and celebrating like it meant a lot to him. The whole team deserved it. Its given the whole city a lift and hopefully, dare I say it, the momentum to push on for a play off spot. So with that in mind I say God Bless Papa Waigo!!!

Saints 4-1 Carlisle - 2010 JPT Champions - Reaction
Saint J 77 replied to Block 5's topic in Golden Posts
I was nervous at 4-0 up, you just never Know with Saints do you Great Result, Great Day! Now on to the play offs -
Well I suppose Pardew could not have picked a better team out of what players weren't cup tied or injured. Looks like its going o be a tough afternoon, I hope we are pleasantly surprised and we come out on top but I can see it being a very close match. I think it was always going to be tough even if we had are first team out there, because of occasion and the fact Carlisle are probably going to be really up for the fight.

Martin Samuel, Daily Mail on Coretese: "self serving" and a "buffoon"
Saint J 77 replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
Agreed I love the quote from Cortese “On Saturdays I can’t sleep,” he said. I get very nervous. I wake up at 5am and can’t eat before the match. My hands feel icy cold — it’s the only time. Normally they are warm. It’s terrible.” Although you could be cynical and suggest that he is worried about Marcus's investment, I think It shows his attachment to the club has started to go beyond that now. I know I feel like that ever time Saints have a big game on. -
Pompey have 7 games left if they lose 3 of the those games they are definitely down. But lets be honest its now looks pretty likely they are gone now
-
Surely there is no contest who you want to win in the semi final though is there? I am by no means a fan of 'Arry fan but I know who I want to win that one and it is not Pompey! I would love it for Spurs to beat Pompey as it would make their fans, would once kissed the ground he walked on, hate him even further.

Maybe some of the team with their minds on Sunday, still at least we won again.

Is it going to be one of those days again?? -
Nothing quite like a Skate victory to sour a good Saints Win, oh well lets hope chelsea bring them back down to earth with a big bump.
-
Great win for Saints, Still don't think we will make the play off's but until mathmatically impossible I'll keep hoping. I know Pompey are as good as down but it still does sour my Saturday's when they win. I knew Hull would bottle it today. Anyway thats enough of those Skate inbreds. Well Done Saints and Rickie!!!

Carlisle 2-0 up, they are hitting form just before just at the right time. Come on Saints lets have 3 points today and complete the quadruple.
-
Swindon may have beaten us but I know in my heart of hearts we are a better team we just panicked when we didn't get the early goal. Swindon did not panic and gave a professional performance. I don't think our players can handle this pressure of having to win every week, its obviously effecting them. If we are going to go up next season they need a change of mentality. Its a very disappointing night especially after the weekend and knowing what this team is really capable of.

If James is still out come there FA cup semi final match I would say that they will definitely lose even if they raise their game again and manage to put in a half decent performance. I still can't believe they are in the semi finals. Its just not right.
-
So it looks like he might be out for some time then? Then they really will be screwed. I would say they have a good chance of 3 points against Hull but after that I can't see where they will get their next lot of points from. With James out I'd say they will be losing by higher margins now which is not going to help that goal difference
-
What's happened to David James tonight?
-
A win is a win even if it was against lesser opposition
-
come on Saints get the killer goal
-
Come on Saints!!!!

Birmingham have rolled over for those inbreds out of sympathy. Now once again those inbred fans will tarnish the cup and Wembley stadium with their presents. I am not happy. Its not a good start for the score lines today
