I think most Skates will be happy about his possible return. I hope it doesn't work out for them as he does like to splash the cash to get his teams promoted.
-
I always thought it was very dodgy that Milan Mandaric left pompey so quickly saying he wanted to have a break from football then months later taking over at Leicester. Now he wants to return to the club he loves so much. Hasn't he got to sell Leicester first and also win his court case. He is definitely another very shady character. The trouble is last time he did manage to get the skates promoted with his money. I hope it doesn't work out for him or the skates this time around if it does happen.

I am going see this as a positive result, we didn't lose and we've stopped the rot of losing. I'm hoping we push on from here like we did last season after we drew with Colchester at home. I think Adkins will turn us around. Hopefully he will know where we need strengthening now and bring in some decent loans this week.
-
So who is "Beattie" this time around?
-
Well he is saying all the right things lets hope it all goes well on the pitch. I have been out all day and only just got back so could someome tell me if there has there been a press conference today at the ground today? I was looking on you tube to see if any thing had been posted. I typed in Nigel Adkins to Southampton and found this video from some ****ed off scrunny fan. quite funny though worth a look haha

Adkins holding the shirt was done in the studio and St Mary's was added behind with Photoshop.

Exactly what I was saying yesterday at 5.15. We have lost 5 times to them now since we began life as a league 1 football club. Its not good enough :@

All these managers with POTENTIAL are too small fry. Cortese should just swallow his Pride and bring in Martin O'Neil. Give up with this stupid idea of a manager working under Les reed its never going to work. Even a manager brought in knowing everything he does must first be cleared by Les Reed, sooner or later they are going to have a disagreement and then we will be back to square one. Looking for another new manager.
-
Sounds like Cortese doesn't know what he is doing. Acting on impulse. He could not get Adkins on the cheap so he went for Howe. Now Howe turns us down and he is after Adkins again. This doesn't inspire me with confidence! http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/8382844.Howe_turns_down_Saints/

Very true...The right size pay check will have most people saying nice things about people they have only just met.
-
But he could help Lambert lost some weight
-
Its looks that way. when will chairman learn to leave it to the mangers to to get on with it. Interference never helps and just causes all sorts of problems. Its so depressing that we SEEM to have another chairman who is starting to come across as Lowe Mark 2. Cortese just wants a yes man.
-
But how do they know? Who is there source?
-
Do you think Cortese heard the Radio so he decided to put it off so they were wrong, seeing how he hates stories getting out to the press before they have made an official statement? So no announcement today then? Maybe we should change the title of the thread to manager announcement soon?
-
IF it was MON I could not see it working out long term. Cortese might promise to not interfere but it wouldn't be long before he would do something to upset him and he would be off. Also every time a high profile job becomes available he would be the first name up for the job and we would struggled to hold on to him. Either way he would not be here long despite any assurances he would give us and then we would be back to square one. On paper it sounds a great idea but seeing how our chairman SEEMS to operate I am not sure it would work out between them long term. It would be like Rupert and Harry all over again. Most likely will be either Phil Brown or Nigel Adkins. Out of those two I would prefer Nigel Adkins but neither of them really enthuse me as a choice for a long term replacement.

oh what I would give for some plain sailing for Saints right now.

And your lot were complaining Craig Bellamy playing, saying it was unfair...lol

Howe had a very good season last year and is currently riding on the wave of success from then, come mid season then we will see if he really is the real deal. Its too early to tell if he is going to be a great manager. I would say it would be the wrong move for both him and most importantly Saints right now. I don't think it will be him. In fact I really hope it isn't him.
-
I feel exactly the same and I think most fans are feeling this way right now. I know it would never happen but even if Cortese did a BIG turn about and asked him back the damage has been done. It would never be the same. Any little whisper of discontent and there would be more disharmony between the fans and probably the players. Cortese now has an impossible task of bringing in a manager thats going to most importantly produce the goods and then unite the fan base. What really worries me is I just can't see any names out there that are going to do this. I live in hope but nothing ever runs smoothly for Saints these days. I hope this is the start of a new era not another false dawn.
-
Who is this guy? The link doesn't work for me. Another Mark Wotte type?
-
No one out of any of the names on this thread will get us promoted. They all would be a back step in my opinion.

I feel as low as I did the day I found out Rupert Lowe had returned to the club. It all looked so rosie after Saturday's win. Then Mondays news comes out of the blue. I think will set us back at least another season in this league. I'm not even sure we will ever get out of it now. A new manager has to get to know the team and introduce his own tactics thats not going to happen over night. Plus some players probably will want to leave as they signed for up to play for Pardew. I just can't see us having a good season now. Cortese might have bought us the money but if he is going to rule with an iron fist we might be better off with a chancer taking over. I'd hope they would keep a good manager in and not make such a hasty decision. We will never get out this division with any of the mangers on the potential list thats been mentioned so far. I'm so fed up with it all right now. Losing in the manner we did to Swindon last night was just rubbing salt in the wound.

Pardews sacking has just left me feeling numb. Saints will never have a settled team at this rate. It looks like we are going to go have another season where something off the pitch causes us to have a slow start. What was Cortese thinking?? I have refused to believe all the negative talk about Cortese until now. This is just unforgivable. I mean why Sack Pardew. I mean what was the real reason? Because they didn't get on? Because he wouldn't be his yes man. Because he asked for money for couple or so extra players that we needed to get promoted? Its just a really bad joke.
