Out of all the rumours its the loan signing that's been confirmed first. If spurs only had him on loan and didn't play him, why did they buy him just to loan him to us? Its a strange one. They must rate him to buy him but want him to learn the English style of play. So experience being the obvious answer! I resent any thing that helps bagpuss out in the long term. I hope this turns out to be a worthwhile signing but right now I'm not that enthusiastic about this. If he works out bagpuss gets a good player back if he doesn't its a waste of our time. Will a loan player who probably isn't going to stay on the bus always give 100%?

No matter what happens on the day, both teams are headed in the right direction now. Saints will still be on the up and pompey on the way down. And if that is all we have to celebrate by the final whistle its something to cheer up any possible post match gloom. I'm hopeful that we will produce the goods on the day though. We should have won today. It doesn't matter that Bristol city have been improving. We should have won. Its as simple as that. No its not the end of the world but it feels really crappy to lose to a team down the bottom. Hopefully the team responds with 3 points on Tuesday night.

Shame we can't get Maynard from Bristol City on loan before Saturday. I know he couldn't play against his parent club but if he couldn't play against us that would be a big plus!

I agree. It would be good to see if he can find the form he had at the end of last season before his injury. I'd like to see him on the bench but I don't even know who he would replace on the bench at the moment. I think if he gets fit he could prove to be an important player for us this season.

I wonder if this means we are making space to bring anyone in on loan up front?
