  1. I liked the soundtrack so much I bought it after I watched the film the first time around
  2. I'd hope we now will hold on to our more promising players longer now we are back in premier league. Last time we were here we had Lowe who saw our youth players as pounds signs he could turn into for his shareholding buddies. Hopefully part of the Southampton way includes getting these players to show some loyalty to the club and not to jump ship as soon as the big clubs come calling. Gordon Strachan spoke about our youth players who have left on TV during half time at the coventry game. He said the trouble has been they wanted to go, not that Southampton didn't want to keep them. And he is right. The trick will be making this next batch of youth players to want to stay and play for Southampton and not just to see us as a stepping stone to Arsenal or any other of the top 5 premier league teams.
  3. If Newcastle land the Bolton target we should go for Guthrie. He would be an absolute bargin on a free transfer. He looked like a great player when he was here last time. Admittedly that was in the championship but he has had alot of premier league experince since.
  4. I'm pretty shocked he is leaving in the manner he is. I thought he might show a bit more loyalty to them. I wonder if we can expect this from Adkins if we have a successful year?
  5. True, and of course next to crystal palace we are their main rivals now In the eyes of their fans, if not ours!
  6. Its amazing to think we were thinks few hours from going out of business with debts that seem like pocket money compared to pompeys 200 million odd. Yet they have survived, if the roles had been reversed the FA would have put us down along time ago. Just why is it the Premier League and now the Football League have bent over backwards to let them survive? What makes them so special?
  7. Also after reading that article, I'm really glad we got promotion this season as next year there are going to be alot of teams with a good chance of going up. I suppose its the same every year though, as it was this year. They say the big spenders are gone and it will be closer, but have they forgotten Leicester? I'm sure they plan to spend big again.
  8. On the whole they were. I don't if it was how I was reading it though but it still felt there was some bitterness there. Saying we over achieved and not mentioning Adkins for one of the best managers. Of course he truely might not believe Adkins deserved a mention there but deep down I think he didn't want to mention him in that breath because of last seasons history, that Gus created himself between them.
  9. oh yeah I forgot about the medical. Probably the most important part of the transfer system too, Doh! For 7 million they don't want a sick note just warming the bench from time to time.
  10. Yeah I realise that is possible but he can't officially put pen to paper until next week when he returns back to blighty can he? Or can he fax it in? Either way I assume he will probably want a face to face meeting with Adkins and Cortese before he signs to see if he feels he can work with them. Also to see if he gets a good vibe for the place and the club. I can imagine leaving Burnley will be tough if he is a local lad and has supported them all his life too.
  11. I watched this recently too. I very interesting film if not action packed. You can see how some of Billy Beane's ideas have moved on into other sports.
  12. Nice to see he is dedicated to the Pompey cause then! Instead of bleeding blue blood for pompey, he is bleeding them dry! haha
  13. He is away in Mexico at the moment so don't expect to hear anything more on his decision until next week when he is due to return back to England and discuss terms apparently. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/9733188.Saints_wait_for_J_Rod_to_jet_in/
  14. Ah ok thanks, I hadn't heard about that. Its a big loss for Norwich if its true.
  15. To be honest I thought most of Eastleigh's fans were Saints fans wanting to watch a cheaper game of football or went to watch if Southampton were playing away.
  16. Has Paul Lambert Actually gone to Villa yet? Or is it just currently speculation?
  17. Has Been is a great album
  18. If true thats a good appointment for Villa. I reckon he would work out there. Norwich will suffer if they lose Lambert though. I can't really think of a decent replacement for Norwich. Perhaps they could get Brian Gunn back? In all honesty though I would feel for Norwich a little bit. He has done a great job for them so it was only a matter of time before his achievements got noticed.
  19. I've just watched "Moon" on DVD. I have seen it before but watching it again reminded me how brilliant it actually is! If you like thoughtful science fiction movies then its well worth a watch. It also has a brilliant atmospheric soundtrack too.
  20. I have all the DVD's, its a brilliant series. Its also very underrated. I didn't think the straight to DVD movies were as strong as the first 4 series but they still were enjoyable and served their purpose getting Futurama back on TV. I have just watched season 5 on DVD which was pretty good. I hope it continues to survive on comedy central and brings us many more new episodes for years to come!
  21. No because he is already looking forward to working with Luggy again. He will sign to spearhead the attack for Southend on Monday. Signing for Southend might seem an odd move for Beattie but the draw of working for his favourite manager from his career was too much for him to turn down.
  22. Are we actually playing 7million up front though? I'm not so sure we will be if the transfer goes through. I reckon it could be anything from 3.5m to 5m up front and the rest on appearances. Obviously I'm not in the know, I'm just speculating that could be the kind of deal both clubs might agree on if the deal goes through.
  23. Absolutely shocking to see what goes on out there! The Indian students getting a kicking from there own fans while the police stood around doing nothing was very disturbing to see. What made me laugh was the Offical denying that the crowds were doing the nazi salute. I think he said something like "oh no they were pointing over there, in the same direction". Something along those lines anyway. Just goes to show they either agree with the crowds or just don't care enough to do anything about it.
  24. If it is 7 million, i wonder how much of that will actually be an up front payment? Maybe £3.5 million up front and then the rest on appearances, plus any future England appearances.
