On it's own you are right. But it falls within the general extent of the Hedge End Strategic Development Area, Area of Search.... http://www3.hants.gov.uk/elh010_hedge_end_sda.pdf

Redrow have a large landholding at North East taunton for instance which is a huge greenfield urban extension. I know of at least 3 other urban extensions they are involved in and have been for a long time.

It might be easier to email the reporter directly. The poor guy just spent half an hour typing the article for us!

As a property developer I wonder if Jackson's Farm may have something to do with it?
-
It is a strange one to me as well. I don't really understand it but could be a potentially interesting over the next few weeks?
-
Right. This might help. It was not on line, but my friend got the article emailed through as follows: Martin Swain Express & Star Monday 2nd February, evening edition Steve Morgan, who tried to buy Liverpool in 2004 before taking over Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers has been spotted at St Mary’s stadium this last week with a view to purchasing the club at a knock down price. Such a venture could quickly ensure Championship safety for a struggling Saints team whose only ambition currently seems to be avoiding relegation. Former Wolves chairman, Sir Jack Hayward agreed to sell all of his shares for 10 pounds (17 dollars) in total on the condition Morgan invested 30 million pounds (59 million dollars) in Wolves. A similar proposition is thought to be currently negotiated between current chairman Rupert Lowe and Morgan. A source from Molineux on Monday said the sale of the club was expected to go through in early March. Manager Mick McCarthy is also tipped to make the move to the south coast along with Morgan, while Managing Director Jez Moxey will stay on as chief executive at Molineux. The club statement read: "It is intended that the new capital, over a period of time, will be used to help re-establish Southampton and Wolves as Premiership clubs. Where Wolves is Morgan’s initial concern, returning the glory days of top league football to Hampshire is on the agenda. "Although there would be a significant amount of money there will not be an 'open cheque book' approach to signing players; instead the club would build on the current strategy of steadily and progressively developing a team of young, hungry and talented players." Morgan made his fortune as the founder of house builder Redrow plc before selling a majority shareholding in 2000. He is chairman of a number of privately-owned companies including, Harrow Estates plc, one of the UK's contaminated land specialists. He came close to buying Liverpool in 2004 and is thought to still hold shares in the Anfield club. Hayward bought Wolves for two million pounds in 1990 and has invested 50 million pounds of his personal wealth in the club. He had been searching for a successor since September 2003.

I had a quick look and could not find anything either. I will ask him if he has a link.
-
As promised I attach the message I received back of the informant! He is answering my question as to where he heard that rumour from. "The Express and Star (Wolves local paper) has a reporter who is a mate of mine (Martin Swain.) He's written about it in the paper so even though it's not gospel, you never know. He's never had any slander cases against him anyway! Would be a good way forward if it did happen."

Cheers! That helps a lot!

I am just trying to get organised for Saturday. Is it an easy walk from the train station (Temple Meads) to the ground? Also is there a pub nearby or is it better to have a drink more near the town centre?

Did BWP & McGoldrick attack a Saints fan?

For what it is worth I met DMG out after the Wolves home league game. He was very approachable and highly critical of the team (including himself) particularly in relation to the Swansea away game. He was keeping a very low profile and seemed very level headed. -
Lowe or Barclays ? Who's running the show ??

Jacksons Farm is only an asset in the event that the planning situation is favourable for the site (I am aware of a Strategic Development Area at Hedge End and as far as I am aare this site does not form part of it) and secondly someone wants to buy it! Aside from some land traders, there are very few house builders buying land in the current market. -
Might have something to do with the low attendance for the SU game. I would have thought the slide in attendance is due to a mix of the following: 1. The poor results from the team over the past two seasons; 2. Board room politics; 3. The credit crunch - I don't think this factor should be underestimated;and 4. Weather (well for Tuesday anyway).

I am not trying to wind anyone up and I am sorry I you feel I am. I am simply, like I have said before, passing on information I as told. For facebook users if you PM me I ill tell you my name and then you can 'add' me on facebook and see the message I was sent for yourself. The person who told me certainly does not know I use this forum.

This might gives some help to the Wolves - Hungarian link. Not sure what it adds to this rumour though. I still have not heard back from the Wolves fan - I can only apologise if he was mistaken. I will keep you posted as and when http://www.expressandstar.com/2008/12/03/wolves-look-to-hungarian-link-up/
-
Hence I have asked him to source it. Unbelievable that you make a post entitled 'rumour' andplace as many disclaimers as you possibly can and it is still not good enough. Perhaps in the future I will keep information I am provided to myself. I thought this site was for fans, not just for those with the 'I have posted over 1,000 times' badge....
-
I have asked him to provide a source for this rumour. I could not see anything on the Wolves message board but he might know more than me. I will of course post any link I am provided with.
-
Sadly I have been a Saints fan since the early 1980s and was on the march last Saturday and have my ticket for Bristol away. Living in Cardiff and formally torbay I travel a signficant distance to attend games so I hope that provides you with significant assurance that I am not a plant! The Wolves fan is not like that.
-
You are welcome to check the message on facebook. Like I said I am only passing on what I was told. If you read the post I also doubt its integrity.

As it is a Friday I thought I would post the following. I post this not knowing the basis or the truth behind this rumour. I simply pass on the information that was posted on my facebook wall by a friend who supports Wolves. He states: "I thought under the circumstances with the Saints struggling I would drop you a line to tell you a rumour I have heard from Wolverhampton. As we are top of the league it's all fine at the moment, however....Steve Morgan our chairman has been seen coming in and out of St Mary's. The talk is that he is going to table a bid to buy out Lowe. He would still be at Molineux but also own Southampton and take Mick McCarthy with him next season (as McCarthy has proved he is not a Prem manager before.) I will let you know if I hear anymore. That's the news from Wolvo anyway." Now this all seems very far fetched to me. For instance does Steve Morgan own Wolves...I did not think you could own two clubs in the Football League. Has anyone else heard anything similar?
-
I would consider a season ticket next year if the price was reasonable.
-
I have just heard that the Football League are suggesting calling off all games tomorrow.
-
Surely SSN have a better use for their cameras than at SMS of transfer deadline day. It is hardly going to be a hive of business today (aside from potential exits)...

Chris Wathan, who wrote that article on Dyer for Media Wales is very well connected with the Swansea camp. Unless any further developments were to happen today you can take his article as fact. Personally I think Wotte is resigned to losing Dyer - i am told he wants to go - and is stating publically he wants the player to stay in an attempt to increase the fee.
