  1. Just to be bit argumentative but just a few hours ago the club know exactly what it was doing and we were brilliant [for a majority on here it seemed] now with the rumour of one player being loaned out we suddenly don't know what were doing and making a big mistake? Perhaps, I don't know obviously, the club has a plan and are happy to allow the player to be loaned out. Look at me...
  2. Oh sorry....Look at me. Steve Moran wasn't as nice and nor was Alan Ball!
  3. He used to work in the Mill Arms, Dunbridge, which was Ted MacDougall's pub for a short while, and he always seemed to be a pleasant, unassuming bloke. You'd never guess he was a professional footballer that's for sure.
  4. Also did his dark lord Cortese himself say that the club HAD to be self-sufficient several times over the course of his time in charge but apparently now he's said '**** it I'm just gonna spend loads and loads of money we haven't got to try and finish seventh'. I don't buy it, I believe he knows exactly what he is doing and also Steve Grant has explained the FFP rule on another thread. Or perhaps you could start another thread in another timeline moaning about us not signing players. Look at me....
  5. Imagine the contrasting feelings of both sets of supporters tonight and how the managers are feeling. Usually it's the other way and I love every moment that Saints make me feel like this......
  6. Merson said on Sky Sports [i know it was only poor old befuddled Paul Merson but nevertheless] that he looked worth £20 million. It's very early days but it seems to me that we actually did good business getting him - after some of the debates on here. 'Look at me, look at me.'
  7. Having read this saga for some time now and kept to the 'commenting sidelines' as I really don't know what is true, gossip and just made up, if this fellow is really making Southampton and several other clubs run around as it appears he is, then should he sign-on, he better be a balls-out performer week-in, week-out and net about 20 or more goals or he can feck off to London where he can do whatever it is he wants to do in the evenings and on his copious days off. The trouble is if the rumours of our targets are genuine, and having read as much as I can find on the Internet [i am now thankfully retired at 51 so unfortunately I have much more time - look at me], I can't help feeling that we are possibly aiming way too high. Despite the recent fantastic years for us fans surely any £30million + footballer is going to say 'Southampton who?' Hopefully I am over-reacting as the season is nearly upon us and the management is being more sensible than the stuff I read. For some reason I just feel we have not improved enough at present and although we weren't too bad last season everyone has played against us now, we're not a new commodity and tactics against us will be better. I can see defeat at WBA for instance. For the record I am not a miserable, weird, pessimist but I don't feel confident about this season - also I don't want Saints to spend £100million on players with big names because it's the only answer either. I think the above proves I have no fecking clue what I am on about. LOOK AT ME!
  8. I'm sure others on here have stated similar thoughts [i can't be bothered to trawl through pages and pages of utter drivel to find them] but I haven't seen too many people even considering that some players don't perform well at every club they go to. After all Southampton fans '**** waste of time' player can be Bolton's 'go-to-hero'. Most people on here have been watching football long enough to realise this surely? It's the same as taking every poor game or defeat as definite sign of the 'crappiness' or our team when from game to game players and teams can perform so incredibly differently. So dismissing players that have 'only scored' seven goals last season or claiming twenty goal scorers 'guarantees you goals' does seem to be overall a bit naive to me. It would be nice if everyone settled down a bit for next season so this place is actually worth a regular visit or two. Finally. 1. I have no rumours about players but I am frustrated that Saints have not yet beefed up their attacking options; 2. I have a bad feeling about this coming season, I'm generally optimistic and I have no reason to be pessimistic, but I just do feel this way at the moment; 3. I did not renew my Forum membership quite a while back for the same reasons already stated; 4. Look at me! Look at me!
  9. Is it genuine? The one on the Ugly Inside has 'Southampton' misspelled and one poster has cried fake already? Oh nearly forgot...look at me, look at me, apparently.
  10. With the current squad, about the same as last season. This board will be the same as last season with the exception of me trying to get more people to 'look at me' by posting once every three or so months. For instance 'look at me' I am currently on Salt Spring Island, BC, in Canada typing this....
  11. I don't normally respond to sweary fools but 23,000 odd posts versus 512 (in quite some time too) and I am 'look at me'. You are a silly person.
  12. 'Adriansfc' you keep posting sensible, well-thought out views and opinions on this forum. Stop it. Please revert to semi-mentally ill negativity, snidey not-quite-as-funny-as-I-think-I-am, plainly made-up stuff and clearly trying to get an angry reaction remarks. I will continue to lurk and look for your posts and others that I like reading whilst rarely contributing myself - as I don't usually log-on this means my extensive block list is pointless.
  13. Because people on this Forum and in the wider world too like to have something to moan about. If the Internet hadn't been invented they'd be writing letters to the local and national newspapers for a hobby. And as for Glasgow's comment about 'it's okay to have an opinion' I think it clearly isn't on this forum!
  14. People have completely lost the point on this. Forget the Pompey angle, forget it is Southampton FC, forget what was shown to be left in the wall. I am only assuming here but the contractor pitched for the work and won it. In their proposal they would have probably used words, like 'professional' and 'quality' more than a few times to underline why they should win the contract. They won it. Senior people at you customer (managers, directors, etc) and their customers see the YouTube post. Do you think this is professional and shows your business in a good light to your existing and potential customers? When the YouTube video is seen do you think the likelihood of winning further contracts with new customers would be: a/ enhanced? b/ diminished? Finally, if you had some extension work completed on your house and later on saw a video of someone doing something equally as 'harmless' and 'jokey' during the building work, how would you react? The actually shirt and act means nothing to me. I couldn't care less but as a person who works in new business/business development I know how hard it is to win new customers and keep them, and having done this job for a while I am so pleased to say I will be retiring this Friday, it is b**tard of a job. This is an act of utter f**kwittery up to '11' regardless of Portsmouth FC, Southampton FC and the reaction of the forum - it has nothing to do with being precious or high-handed.
  15. All I am saying from years of watching football in this country, I am an old git, if it was as simple as cherry picking good players from around Europe every single team with a bit of money would do it and finish mid-to-top-six and that is clearly not the case. I am betting that one of the clubs, that a few posters are salivating over on this Forum, might end up much lower down the table than is predicted..I have a sneaking suspicion that Norwich may not do as well as they clearly think they are going to. A great looking team-sheet does not win you any games. That is all.
  16. Well I guess we'll see if the amount of signings Norwich and Sunderland and to a lesser extent Swansea are makjng work. Several posters here, particularly last season, seem to think signing loads of players, any players, would work. Personally I'm not convinced that Norwich's policy is going to work - I have a feeling people might be surprised how they do, and I don't mean that in a positive sense either. Same with Saints I suppose - signing on a superstar forward, who could also be a new type of personality type and attitude, might actually be a big mistake. Time will tell...
  17. We need either some of the players from last season's squad to step up and start taking the 20 - 30 chances we seem to create every game or we need to sign on someone who will take some of the opportunities. We were so guilty of out-playing and out-shooting the oppo' only to let them off or nearly let them off the hook. The draws near the end of the season were incredible frustrating....
  18. There are quite a few posters on here who aren't quite as funny and 'entertaining' as they clearly think they are... First visit for a few days or so and everything is as tedious and dull as usual. This place is not even worth the skive time at work it used to be.
  19. Having seen many of your posts in the past, including the one where you told me to 'f**k off' despite your protestations that no one uses proper argument any more I can only conclude that from this post you are definitely doing this sort of post on purpose to gain reaction. Superstition and subliminal effect is a sort oxymoron - as one is mumbo jumbo with no bases in fact and the other is recordable and repeatable which is it? Also before you tell me to f**k off again - like I care - you have no proof that this is the kit and no proof the transfer window is going wrong and no proof a bad kit, which is always going to be subjective, will have any effect on the season. Therefore your post is a bit silly at best. Enjoy the coming season, whatever happens you won't, whereas I'll just take it as it comes as most supporters and followers do.
  20. Of the people I know that support Saints one posts regularly but is a loon (still trying to be a 70s football hooligan and should really grow up), four are members but lurk and hardly ever post, if at all, some others have heard of it but never been near it and my brother who has supported Saints since the early sixties hasn't heard of it, couldn't care less and thinks a lot of fans are a bit mental having watched a 'supporter' going apoplectic with bulging eyes and head veins at St Mary's [like he was going to attack and murder people] because Saints 'weren't gettin' into them..' whilst they were comfortably leading 2-0. He doesn't go so much these days. I am hoping that this forum in no way represents the average Southampton supporter.
  21. There was team in the New Forest League called Solent City in the 1980s. The beat us 10-3 at home and 8-1 away - they were a bit better.
  22. I was too young for that game but my brother went - didn't Saints win 5-1 after a 3-3 draw in Portugal - I always remember him laughing and saying when they scored their goal the scorer did about three laps of the Dell, he just reduced the deficit to 3-1! My brother was 57 on May 16th - bloody hell!
  23. This. I'm surprised the 'hilarious' and 'know-it-all', who are quite as 'hilarious' as they think they are and appear to know-little, haven't turned up on this thread yet. Hey ho I've made it to 50 and I am very close to retiring....do I care what they think?
  24. Fxxk tradition. Let's get 21st century and stop living in the flaming 19th century, the past is never as good as people make it out to be. I surprised most of you use computers seeing as we never had them in our houses in the 70s - it's outrageous.
  25. That's easy David, whomever we sign on! You just didn't think that one through did you!
