Phone contract deal. My company has just taken on Virgin Media as a client if I see him walking around the office I'll ask him.....

I think the new owners, should we get some, will be someone not on that list who is doing every thing the correct way and will come as a big surprise.

I agree. My bosses husband has just taken a 20% pay cut. It's easy really - take the cut or the company has to sack people or fold. Mind you if you're a selfish c*nt who only thinks about yourself then you won't take the cut I suppose.

My dictionary doesn't have pictures.

I feel sorry for the younger players...

Yup 1976 I was there with Bobby Cassidy, 'king brilliant - nobody at the club, none of the miserable gits on this Forum nor the know it alls can ever take that away from me...until I go dolally-tap or die. Excellent. -
No - like his enemy, apparently, before him he has been and abject failure but in terms of results and tactics. Clean slate next season - aim for comfortable midtable and then build to get promoted within the next three years. We need some realism....

I don't agree. Having worked or invested in some way in many, many PLCs indirectly and directly I find I have had no influence whatsoever in the way these businesses are run. Furthermore the blind assumption that PLCs are the answer to everything is part of the reason we are in the state we are in. A load of greedy, greedy men (usually) whose only mantra is 'where's my return?' For a football club that is a disaster - for a lot of normal businesses it is too. Most of them get along by accident lurching from one situation to the other and when they some how make more money than usual the blokes sat around the shiny table are lauded as geniuses and when it goes tits up - which they inevitable do - it's not their fault and half the workforce gets the sack.

Saints Fans in Amesbury / Bulford and Durrington
David Strover replied to Amesbury Saint's topic in The Saints
Many year ago when I played for The Avon Brewery we used to play against The New Inn from Amesbury and I'm absolutely sure they all were Saints fans. I wonder if any of them are on here? -
Saints Fans in Amesbury / Bulford and Durrington
David Strover replied to Amesbury Saint's topic in The Saints
I used to live in East Dean and played football for West Dean and we played football against teams from Amesbury, Durrington, Bulford, Stonehenge, Porton, Winterslow, et al.....can I join? -
Bemerton Heath Harliquins? F*ck me how far have we fallen? I used to play at that ground on Sunday mornings and we didn't lose either and I've played against Steve Slade and Ian Chalke.......
-
Yup someone with no friggin' connection to Southampton Football Club but looks at it and says with the right planning we could be a good Championship side in three years time and maybe pushing for a play-off place in five years. You know realistic.....

Doesn't the League ******s Committee meet tomorrow to decide when to deducted our ten or even twenty points? You know like Luton Town so that the only people really punished are the fans and the next board who come in to sort the club out - the very people who had little if nothing to do with the 'financial mismanagement'. I say little because some posters on this board seem to think that the club's situation can be laid at the feet of some of the supporters. Why don't the FA look at the people who get these clubs into financial trouble and then ban them from football sin die rather than punish the fans with instant struggle the next season? Personally I hope Luton Town prove too strong for the Conference and make it a laughing stock by winning every single game about 8-0. I know they won't but it would be hilarious.

15,000 for team in the bottom half of the Championship, hardly ever wins at home, does not provide entertaining football and had a 'hated' (in some sections at least) board is actually fairly impressive. As MLT once said - "I've seen plenty of empty seats at Old Trafford before" People love been seen connected to success and hate be associated with abject failure. That is human nature. Few clubs have huge crowds in League One and League Two. Some do but it's a rare bird.

A town must be granted city status by the British monarch regardless of size or if it has a city or a cathedral. According to the part of the British government known as the Department for Constitutional Affairs: "City status is a rare mark of distinction granted by the Sovereign and conferred by Letters Patent. It is granted by personal Command of The Queen, on the advice of Her Ministers. It is for Her Majesty The Queen to decide when a competition for city status should be held. Competitions are usually held on occasions such as important Royal anniversaries." Sorry to be such a pendant but I've endured this university/cathedral argument that I just could not keep my hands from flying to the keyboard... Just for the record if Saints fold we should wear white shirts with a diagonal red band and call ourselves Southampton Deanery!
-
Wrong cathedrals have got feck all to do with cities although it's a widely held misconception. Southampton is a city because it is chartered as such.

They are actually at home to Preston on Saturday but looking at their fixtures if they don't start picking up some points they are going to get dragged into this quagmire at the bottom without doubt!

Have You Lost/Losing Interest In This Forum?
David Strover replied to St Marco's topic in The Saints
Yes. -
Ease up tiger! I was only making a semi-humourus comment on the fact that there is an interesting debate on the Forum about the team and tactics rather than the usual rehashed arguing about 'other facets' of this club. It was in a perverse way a compliment I suppose! I guess that back-fired in a spectacular fashion... My own opinion? I have never had a connection with professional footballers or football clubs, have never worked with the current players five days a week and I only see them getting beaten on TV when they're on Sky. I don't really have the right to tell anyone on the coaching staff how do run the team or what players to pick. I also know with my track record of decision making in any walk of life and if I were to be in charge we would already be relegated to League One by now. Having said all this it's still a much more interesting thread and read than countless others on this Forum!

"Saint Forum in thread about football and tactics shocker!!!"
-
I agree this is truly the mark of a monumentally idiotic manager/coach. How to inspire the opposition to ****ing thrash you at home! It wouldn't surprise me if Preston North End win 5-1 tomorrow! What a club we are!
-
I meant we are bound to lose because we are at home. I didn't even watch Sky or listen out for the results yesterday - I have completely given up. I don't even know why I come back here but like the 'dog returning to it's vomit' I do.....I fear in time this will fade and football will hold no interest for me.
-
If we lose? We are at home FFS!
-
22nd - Plymouth Argyle 23rd - Norwich City 24th - Southampton This is obvious. Plymouth Argyle have won one match in the last fourteen - same as us - guess who it was against?
-
To be fair - you could apply that list to any goalie in League Division Two (for that's what it is - a rose by any other name...). Most of the Championship highlights involve goals where keepers miss things, drop stuff, come hammering off their line too early, don't come off their line early enough etc. Kelvin really isn't as bad as people make out but there is no perspective on here but then again there never has been. Having said this he does look to me as if he has lost confidence. Anyway next season we'll be in League Division Three and he won't be here - then we'll see how we get on with errrmmm Forecast (never played a first team game) and Flapper Bart (never caught a cross - ever).
