  1. Good predictions.
  2. I live in Swindon and all the Town supporters I know say he is a twonk too! So there is a bit of smoke about that fire no doubt. Having said that if you want to get on in the competitive world of professional football you've got to be hard-nosed, a bit of cheat and think the sun shines out of your backside - otherwise you probably won't make it. I happened to see Swindon play on Saturday (free tickets I don't pay) and Austen scored a good goal from a great move (perhaps the keeper should have saved it) and made the other goal. He works very hard throughout the match and if he had better support about him he'd been even more of a threat. I think if he left them (I reckon he will) he'll go to a higher division club.
  3. I agree with this comment. The same fans often moan that we are a 'laughing stock' because we've had so many managers etc....
  4. Amazing - one bad result and performance and Nigel Adkins are instantly transformed into utter ****e again by some 'fans' on this forum. Next week if we win about 4-0 or something we'll be world beaters with the best manager in the universe at the helm - again. How ****ing tedious this place is.
  5. I understand what you are saying and you are entitled to your opinion but how do you think I feel for instance? I come on here after a ropey miserable start to the season and now we are constantly winning and keeping clean sheets and you still read posts by people moaning and saying the manager and sometimes the team aren't that good. I guess when we beat Manchester United 8-0 in the Champion's League Final then most posters will then be happy (except we didn't score ten). I am surrounded by Swindon Town fans and one Sheffield Wednesday fan and one Leeds United fan - even the the Swindon fans have stopped mentioning the 3-0 and 1-0 wins this season - they aren't happy and would much rather be where we are......
  6. Not really. It's near the Honda factory but I'd hardly say it is next to the Honda factory. Hunt's Copse used to be my Sunday team's home ground until this season. Apparently the FA didn't like lots of teams that weren't 'senior' sides playing on it (so much for supporting grass roots football I guess). It holds about 3000 at the best and that is mainly standing. I hope Saints do get them I work with one of their players.
  7. Is this the only football forum where the supporters of the team who it represents will immediately side with anyone slagging their own club? One thing is for sure with Saints there is not much 'blind loyalty' on this forum. To paraphase GB Shaw - Put Southampton FC on a spit and you'll always find a Saints supporter to turn it.
  8. Well in 1957-58 we did beat Bournemouth 7-0 at home! Lost 5-2 in the return though - typical Saints!
  9. Swindon Town (Home) 0-6; Plymouth Argyle (Home) 0-6; Brentford (Home) 0-6. These results were some time ago but I think there might be some fans who remember the 0-6 defeat versus Brentford. Other corkers are 0-8 at Everton, 0-8 at Tottenham, 2-8 at Bury! The number of seven goal defeats are even more including 0-7 versus Luton Town not that long ago. Big wins - 6-2 and 6-0 at Wolves, 6-0 at Carlisle, 8-2 at home versus Coventry, 9-3 versus Wolves - in the Southern League days we beat Northampton and Watford 11-0 in successive seasons (remembering at that time the Southern League was professional and seen as a serious rival to the Football League). And of course we scored 112 goals in 46 games in 1957-58 - scoring shedloads at home (I'm sure there's a few on here that remember that - even I'm too young though).
  10. Hmmmm - haven't been watching Saints for that long then have you? Remember the first season in the old First Division? I think the t'internet would have exploded with indignate Saints fans in those days. Just avoided relegation conceded 92 goals in 42 matches...
  11. I suspect if we'd have been 4-2 down at Leeds tonight and come back to win 6-4 several posters would have come on here and moaned about the fact we let four goals in. I also notice the promotion is apparently 'over' for us....oh well time to do something else with my weekends as it's pointless wondering how Saints get on. Thank feck I'm off to Canada Saturday.
  12. Well my guess is Nigel Adkins has said 'this is where you need to be to get in the team, now go out and do it'. He can soon find who really wants to be part of the team that way......all conjecture of course because I know feck all...Jaidi from the sounds of it responded. Fair play to him...
  13. He must be pretty stupid to hand in a transfer request when he can't be transferred.
  14. Writes very much like a religious or UFO conspiracy buff on the Interweb - therefore opinions must be taken with a pinch of salt. Seem very, very angry about something and is looking for a football club chairman that isn't interested in how the team is run.....is there one?
  15. You have clearly blanked from your memory the 'where's Bart' pictures from our Exeter City cup defeat - I think that might have been two feet wrong. Personally I've nothing against him I just don't think he is as good as everyone likes to remember. Have you seen some of performances for Poland? He is no better than Kelvin but probably no worse either....the current ****e we are playing at the moment doesn't have too much to do with who is playing in goal - I think most posters seem to agree. After all we can't score any goals.....
  16. His English isn't very good he might just be saying 'yes' to every question.
  17. I am old enough to remember (and this is the absolute truth) Saints ending three teams long runs without a win in one season - Villa hadn't won for about 16 games and couldn't buy goals, played Saints won 3-0.....I have no confidence that we will even score a goal Saturday but I have been wrong as many times as I've been right with Saints so who knows....Luckily my Sunday morning football team manager, who is an Owls fan, is away next weekend. So I am only surrounded by Swindon fans......d'oh!
  18. Seems everyone knows what we want - problem is getting it! We're on freebies and loan transfers only at the moment and we have to find someone who wants to come to the club. Top that according to some posters we have Stalin running the club (personally I doubt it) so it has to get by his 'decision'. I'm not sure all these square pegs for square holes are out there....
  19. He's hardly played since which would point towards this being ****-stirring bull****.
  20. Thirty two years of supporting/following Saints does that to you.
  21. I don't mind him. He's a boss and if they're popular with everyone they're not doing there job properly. And it has to be remembered he doesn't actually play football so once the game starts it's down to the shiftless, gutless, spiritless, round-shouldered wimps who are going to 'kick on from here' and are '..ready for hard work' and tell us the 'squad has quality' and they are 'seeking momentum' every frickin' week and then play the same crappy way every week.....At the moment I've got a problem with them - they are professionals at the sharp end and they aren't delivering. Just 'cause there are upheavals do you suddenly forget how to play controlled good football? I don't forget how to use a computer if my boss gets the sack or leaves...
  22. It will be the same players that have not performed for last four games (or even scored) so what is going to have happened since Wednesday night and Saturday afternoon to suddenly make us good? Barnard coming in? He'll probably be so ****ed off with the crap players around him he'll get sent off for a rash and anger motivated challenge like last time. If anyone is expecting a sudden change from two or three training sessions then you really do think Adkins is a miracle worker. I can't see there being an loanees and even if there were they'd have one day to fit in. A goaless draw or a 1-0 or 2-0 win for Colchester United is looking more likely. Particularly if there's twenty or so minutes to go and Mills comes on for an attack-minded player (a pattern within the club at the moment). If my brother goes I expect him to leave for the pub late in the second half like he did against Rochdale - oh and Puncheon will lambast one easy chance over the bar from five or six yards 'cause he seems to do that every game too.
  23. Well it's been nearly 24 hours and I'm still really f**king angry. I still am gonna take no real interest on Saturday and just avoid the telly and radio and I'm still gonna go to an ice hockey match instead and enjoy that. Personally I don't agree with any of the above quote and I seem to remember similar stuff being said when we went down from the Championship - very similar in fact. I think the team will get a few results and we will end up lower-middle of the table. As Professor posted we already have to go on a sort of 25 game unbeaten run to end up in the top two and even a really, really good team would struggle to do this - we are far from a really, really good team. Maybe it is knee-jerk but it still doesn't stop the fact that we are a incredibly poor football team. Get ready for more disappointment than elation over the coming months.
  24. Quite ironic really - all anyone has to do is look at the fixture/results page and then the reason for the ticket offer will be quite obvious. Dagenham and Redbridge's first visit to St Marys and their first historic win......
  25. This team's performance isn't gonna suddenly change over night so us picking up lots of points in the next few months seems unlikely. Nigel Adkins probably knows this so does Cortese - they won't say in public but they can see it. It's League One for another couple of years minimum. Anyone want to bet on Liam Henderson first scorer Saturday? He's on loan and it's his first appearance for Colchester.
