  1. Dragan having a big say in Jones and trying to stick up for him. He does admit his press conferences didn't help the situation, but I do struggle to understand what on earth they saw in him via an interview which would have suggested he could handle the pressure he was about to endure. It Nathan Jones and Ruben Selles is their track record in employment and examples of how the get the right people for jobs, how are they even a little bit successful and we are probably doomed. Hubris, there was a lot of disguised hubris in that interview.
  2. Not only that but it is a genuine football data sheet that found on the t'Internet.
  3. That's dark navy blue shorts and trim on the home shirt too.
  4. I never got an e-mail so it won't be mine - that is solid and reliable in-the-know information.
  5. But do you have to leave your wife and kids every weekend to watch that tripe? If we had been making up these quotes it would be quite right to call us knobheads but even if paraphrased somewhat they are amazingly things that have been said by head-honchoes at Southampton FC.😶
  6. Players? I think that might be the boardroom and owners (football geniuses) too. Don't forget they don't worry about league positions.
  7. When the comments first came out I didn't post anything [i have enough annoying opinions without airing more] but I honestly thought at the time people weren't reading what was said. He did said 'aren't ready yet' that isn't 'total crap will never play in the first team' and he said 'some may be some never' or words to that effect. Well surely that is every youth team in the professional league? If you get one or two per crop you're doing very well. I believe what he said to in the recent interview a negative slant was added to make it more newsworthy. PS: I popped on Ugly Inside [i know it is one of the dank heck-holes of the Internet] and one poster claims two signings are coming in soon. More than likely forum bullshine but there you go.
  8. Only for the time being, wait until you get the ransom demand, "Give us £2k or we'll return your season tickets".
  9. It was 1-1 at half-time against Chelsea, I think MK Dons in League One was the last time we trailed at half-time [0-1] and won [3-2], the best we can hope for is a draw.
  10. Sorry chaps but am I being utterly thick here? The Clyne tweet says 'My England team-mate'. They both play in the England team. If he meant Liverpool he would have said my 'Liverpool team-mate' or 'My new team-mate'....perhaps it's just me? I still think he'll leave mind you, I just don't see what everyone else is seeing.
  11. It was 1976, Aston Villa 5 Liverpool 1 and that was the halftime score. I don't know whether it makes me weird and old but I can remember the game. I found a link for it. http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/great-games-aston-villa-5-181147
  12. My injuries at local level football include - broken nose (accidental), several broken figures but worst of all a smashed arm done deliberately as I came to the edge of the area to collect a through ball. The player laughed, the referee gave nothing and I played on and tried to drive to the Refinery the next day for work but had to turn around and go to the doctors. I was nine weeks in plaster - the referee saw me ata cup final a few weeks later and said 'oh you did break your arm then'. I walked away. Oh and I was punched hard in the face twice by the same player at the same corner for previous beating his team mate to a bouncing ball and punching it away, no heavy contact or anything, just apparently for stopping him scoring. As kids we were threatened to be knifed after the match during a game because we were better than them and came back from 4-1 down - at the time we thought it was genuine too. I've been booked twice for politely questioning the position of a free-kick and about a violent player who was kicking everyone in the air and whether he should be dealt with.
  13. I was going to bring up the Saints vs Liverpool League Cup semi-final myself. As a rider to this story though, the spitting came about because every time the Liverpool players trotted into the penalty box for a corner they gobbed on Shilton. Everyone at the Archer's End (I think) could see it but the referee choose to ignore it because he'd have to send off about five Liverpool 'stars' for starters.
  14. Beefy on 'Not606 Southampton' forum, who is usually fairly reliable, says there is a forward who has been offered a deal and it's a case of waiting for a reply and seeing if a deal can be thrashed out. To be fair he says he is not allowed to say anything else and he hasn't been told about any other business but his 'informant' (who apparently is someone else on that forum's informant so his reports are normally verfied). He was told that the club's priorities and view-points on transfers in and out can change from day-to-day depending on circumstances. That's all I've heard from what I have seen as 'reliable' sources but I know nothing myself!
  15. Anyone think that was very 'Fergy Man United' in the way we won that - not great, finished well and got a bit of luck when it was needed. That is how you finish in the top four of the table - there were few sadsacks on the match thread and I think it is about time that some of them started to believe the Koeman Revolution and get on board. This is a very different Southampton - We March On.
  16. Watching on the laptop I could not believe LVG's naive tactic of bringing on Fellaini and basically telling his team to hoof it up to him. That just played into our hands. Surely any research on Southampton will tell him we are very strong defensively and you have to be lucky to beat us with hoof-ball. Not that I give a toss to be honest...:-D
  17. Or the 'slow whistle' as in ice-hockey. A foul is committed but the team who have been fouled against keeps possession of the ball, the referee raises his arm to indicate a foul has been committed but the team in possession has the advantage, as soon as the opposition gain possession of the ball or it goes dead the whistle blows and the free kick is then awarded - unless a goal is scored. Or summat like that....
  18. I tried to stream it - luckily for me it was so bad it wasn't worth watching but from what little I could see the final result was already in full view. Perhaps the performance will be better Saturday but you have to bear in mind that Vic and Morgan are unavailable, alongside Gardoes, probably Davies, definitely Cork and Forster for all his saves seems to have a goal-causing error in him every game - add into the mix Mayuka, Mané and Isgrove don't appear to be having an effect on the wing and Tadic's form has fallen off dramatically and then also consider Pelle is our only goal-threat, because Long plays scores a goal every ten games. I don't see any optimism at the moment - hopefully Reed might finally get some game time. Everton are tough and they won't take any prisoners. We are in for a very, very tough Christmas.
  19. Okay fair enough - it is only my opinion. I am genuinely interested in your view on this - before this game I was finding it hard to see too many positives, now I sort of can't see any.
  20. Well as I said in the previous 'defeat thread' we are seriously looking at nine or ten defeats on the trot. I am not SUGGESTING this but I am WONDERING if Koeman's position at the club will become untenable? If this form and weird team selections continues I cannot see him being her at the end of the season - if this does continue over Christmas - which it will - we actually could easily be facing a relegation scrap. Plenty of other sides have started top ten or higher and slipped right down the table - for instance Blackpool and Hull City off the top of my head. This is worrying - Saturday is could easily turn out to be a 4-0 home hammering. Oh well as it ever was.
  21. Perhaps some of you ought to read what I said? I said 'I wonder...' not 'I think..' or 'He should be...' personally I think Koeman is a great manager and we will do well to hang on to him in near future BUT with the upcoming fixtures it is feasible we could go on a eight or even ten game run without a win - how will the 'must stay in the Premiership because of the money' faction of the club think about that? That is the only statement I made. I live in Swindon, sorry for the crime just for a history check though, so you know I am allowed to have opinions - I was born in East Dean and used to catch the 2bob Buddens Bus to the Dell every Saturday from the 70s onwards. Then we moved to Lockerely and I spent my time up to my 30s going around the usual areas Romsey, Salisbury, Southampton etc. I've been out with girls from Baddesley, Ampfield, Romsey and Southampton. I have worked all over the country but mainly in the Southampton area including the Refinery and for NG Baileys and many others. I got married and moved to Swindon because it was the easiest thing to do for my wife. I will probably end up emigrating to Canada again for family reasons. I apologise for postulating something you clearly don't think will ever happen and futher to this I apologise for not living in an approved area. Enjoy yourselves - I am pleased to say that living in this unapproved area I will never meet any of you.
  22. Well one thing about today's game - it quickly made me forget about Monday's game. At the moment it seems like we're looking down a chimney. You can't actually see who is going to turn on a great performance and piece of play that'll turn our dire form around. Well I can't. I wonder how secure Koeman's job will be if this form continues into the New Year [looking at our fixtures it easily could too] after all that would be eight to ten games without a win. At the moment we're standing on five and counting...... Sheffield United was a great draw when it happened - now it just makes me very nervous.
  23. Anyone looking forward to Chelsea?
  24. This would seem to indicate our players are 1. Not good enough 2. Just don't learn anything from previous defeats and games. I find it frustrating that over the last three games we seem to repeat the same stupid mistakes. Mind you I suppose against Burnley they won't get punished as much or at all and we will get a win and then it'll be 'we can qualify for the Champions League' nonsense again. Football actually ****es me off and leaves me depressed more often than it makes me happy and looking forward to it.... Ho hum, as it ever was...
