Can’t say I know much about Stewart, but thought if we’re in the market for a striker we’d be more heavily linked with Piroe. Seen a bit of him and looks decent, has a good scoring rate and obviously knows Martin’s system. Maybe Martin’s not that keen or Swansea won’t deal with us after the compensation row? Can’t imagine it’s an issue with the fee though.

Agree, except I’d have AA up top with Edozie wide. Think AA fits Martin’s style better.

The good news is that won’t be our starting defence and midfield. Lyanco and Bree won’t be there and I’m hoping we’ll have a better balanced midfield. 2 10s and Lavia a strange one. The starting team against Reading worked much better.

It’s Sky, probably just rounding it up to sound better. Still, pleasing we appear to be holding out for more, as we should. Let’s hope Chelsea join the party.

Look I get you’re a miserable fucker like me and we both share ironic usernames. But it’s just a song, a positive start of the season song to welcome a new manager. Showing we can bring numbers to a friendly and make some noise, with all the usual pre-season ill founded optimism. Everyone knows it’s going to be hard next season and play-offs, let alone promotion, is by no means a given. But everyone also knows we’re not by far the greatest team the world has ever seen, but most of us I bet (ok, maybe not you and your chuckle brothers - sorry, couldn’t resist 😉) have sung that at some point. A ridiculous song, but it doesn’t matter, it’s just getting behind the team, creating atmosphere etc.

Indeed, two howlers is ridiculous. First one a Bednarek mistake let them in for a one on one. Perhaps he could have come off his line quicker, but those should go in 99% of the time. After a similar mistake from Tino in the 2nd half they were again clean through, and he made a decent stop. Didn’t get a clear view of the 2nd as it was down the other end, but watched the highlights and it was poor and he should have done better. Really needs to cut out the mistakes obviously but his calmness and good distribution may possibly go in his favour with Martin who may give him a bit more time to prove himself. We’ll see I guess, but it is obviously a worry. Clear how we’re going to play, and my concern was we’d concede stupid goals by messing around at the back. But we were excellent keeping possession yesterday, lots of movement, always a pass on, and Smallbone was at the heart of this, he had a great first half. And this fluidity continued in the build up play, and chances created, good to watch. Be interesting to see how this goes down at home, I get people don’t like pointless passing it around the back and no penetration. But we will be trying to keep the ball and inevitably there will be lots of sideways and backwards as we try and move teams around and find the openings either through the middle or out wide. Worked brilliantly yesterday, but against better opposition it won’t be so easy so I hope we give them a chance and not get on their backs when patience is needed. Amo was excellent, Edozie also good and Tella showed glimpses, those 3 should cause some real problems in the Championship. Best I’ve seen Armstrong play too, looked sharp, used the ball well and took his goal well and could have had a couple more. Looks like he may be our starter up front. Great turnout and think Martin looked genuinely impressed when he came over to clap. COYR.

Yep, got mine. Local for me, looking forward to it, think we sold out?

Love Romeu, really pleased for him.

Like most, never thought he was good enough in the Prem, and not sure he'd have faired much better this coming season, so best outcome for both parties (as long as we recoup a good percentage of what we spent). Can't dislike his passion though, good luck to him.

It’s hard to argue with your points or make much of a case for him based on what we’ve seen so far. But, and I’m not sure why, I still think there’s a player in there somewhere who could do well in the Championship. Yes he’s had his chances, but think he, and others like Sulemana, would benefit from a proper run in the team. If he still flatters to deceive then get rid, but maybe showing some belief in him will help his confidence and get him more involved in games. Not sure that will happen though. Back to the topic of Baz, he has had a good run in the team and it’s hard to make a case for him to be our first choice going into this season. Would like to see us bring in a more experienced keeper who will have more confidence and dominate the box. Can help Baz too, as sure in time he’ll be decent, just wasn’t ready to be thrown in at the deep end.

Romeo Lavia - Official: Signs for Not Liverpool
Mr Brightside replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
https://www.rousingthekop.com/2023/07/16/arsenal-preparing-epic-fight-with-liverpool-to-sign-phenomenal-player/?amp Let’s hope so. -
Like Alcaraz, needs to be more consistent imo though. And really should have played Amo in there.
-
Gash is such a great word.
-
About to say Doyle was doing well, then he gets hauled off. Shame.
-
Hmm. After a wonder save in the last game, that was horrible. Right Saints, let’s see what you’re made of.
-
Yep, like the pr1ck who used to sit behind me whose only pleasure seemed to be telling Tadic how sh1t he was.
-
Agree. Also looks like he’s best suited to how RM wants to play.
-
Wow, what a save.
-
The Polish Maldini (if he stays).
-
Reading away.

Not quite as nice as my 80s Draper Tools, but still love it.
-
That made me laugh. Obviously not good enough for the Prem, but I reckon he could be useful next season bamboozling opposition defences, if he has no idea what he’s doing next, then nor will they.

Hot Fuss is a great album, imo, sadly went downhill from there.
