Mid season wise for us being above Man Utd you have to go back to 31/12/1988 where we were 8th and Utd were 11th. The closest I could find in the Premier League era after at least 5 games was exactly 10 years ago where we were a point & a place behind them in 5th after 6 games.

Phil Parkinson is the ex trainee, struggling to work out who the local boy is so I voted for him.

Thanks for everything Nigel, promotion from League 1 might have been expected but flying straight through the Championship was most definitely not. You've done more than enough this season to have still been our manager and I'm absolutely gutted that you've been kicked out like this. Hopefully you'll go on to beat that record number of promotions that Warnock/Bassett currently holds.

He deserves the season after back to back promotions but if he hasn't been scouting hard for defensive options to sign right away in January I'd be very worried.

I think that's correct. I'm sure I remember reading that we went back to Spurs and made an early settlement (same as the Walcott deal) last season.
