Whether you're 20 or 18, you can see watching a decent player in the making his raw quality. With Jwp, he has 0 pace, can't tackle, can't shoot. Unfortunately in a climate where any half decent Southampton player has stories linking them away trailing a blaze in the press, it is very telling that there is very very little interest of other clubs reported in him. I can think of plenty dressing him up as England's future saviour but bat one tenuous city link at best, there is nothing else. Unfortunately can see him falling in to a lower league player. To me, he shows no outstanding ability in any aspect of the game. Just my opinion of course

You would expect there to be a lot of rotation, so that starting 11 is speculative of course. Would fancy Davis do have a more limited role this year and when playing will compete with Jwp for a position. I would keep both away from that cm position when playing a two thats for sure. Very sad to Morgan leave after all these years but after the service he has given us and the integrity of the man, you can only wish him well. So now with the Clasie links revving up, if we can get a decent cb AND a big defensive mid, I actually feel the overall squad will be MORE balanced than last year! This Suarez chap at 6'2 seems interesting and if not him someone similar is essential to add to the cm ranks. If all goes well, and we end up with a 22 like this, i would hope to at yhe very least repeat last years 7th spot. Not overly impressed with Martina in the short time he played so far. But then the club know this undoubtedly and no doubt is a "2 year contract" player. Can't see him leaving us to go to a europa side. Having been with us on "the journey" over last few years, i think he knows and sees just as well as anyone else that the club are knocking on the door. With arsenal strengthening, city being up there, chelsea being chelsea, and utd looking like spending another trillion quids, there is 0 threat of the scousers or spuds breaking top 4. We should try and get a decent centreback, and just have a hunch that we will go for Clasie irrespective of the Morgan situation. After Cork's departure we were short anyway, and Clasie can play further forward if needed given his range of passes. Let's bring on next season!! Enough of all this doom and gloom already. Even if we had him for just the one further season, that would be excellent. To replace him with someone comparable would be very very difficult. Our defensive steel is as much him and Wanyama as it is owing to a decent back four. Will be interesting to see how Toby performs at white shyte lane withought big Vic and Morgan...
