Avatar 2, visually stunning......something Saints haven't been for along time!
-
I said on Tuesday night it was the worst Saints performance i had seen for so long and that Jones is a terrible appointment. I haven't watched any of todays game but did enjoy Avatar. Think my days Saints are playing are going to be different from now until the end of the season. The team can't be arsed and i'm certainly not going to be arsed to pay to watch them anymore.

Ive always been one for getting behind a new manager and not writing them off too early. However i was very underwhelmed when we appointed Jones and after watching last nights horrendous team performance i am even more so gutted by the appointment we have made, I honestly believe this appointment will go down in Saints history as another cluster fuck on the same scale as appointing that idiot Rednapp who had zero interest in us. I so hope i'm wrong and Jones proves to be a masterstroke but on the evidence of last night against a poor Lincoln side i'm so concerned we have made an utter abysmal appointment.

my god what an awful game that was tonight. I'm really struggling to see any positives from that performance. Ainsley Miles should never wear the shirt again, he is a bloody disgrace and he just appears completely uninterested. So so disappointed by what i saw tonight.

Have to say i completely agree with you. There are absolutely no guarantees that a change of manager will suddenly turn results around. Look at the money teams like Everton, Aston Villa and West Ham have spunked and on that basis you would say they should be all kicking on the door of Europe but 2 out 3 are struggling terribly and fans want Gerrard out and Lampard out. West Ham have started badly this season considering the players they have. I'm as fucked off with our results and performances as most fans but who realistically that WOULD 100% improve things is out there. My guess the board are hoping we can get to the World cup break and then see who becomes out of a job because they either lose their job as a National manager or a club manager becomes available because said club replaces them with a newly ex national manager. It is a risky strategy but i wouldn't be surprised if this is whats going on behind the scenes.

An absolute awful game to watch. We were garbage, we could not string 2 passes together for 90 minutes and then actually found some composure and pinged it about for the last 5 mins. Bazunu was excellent, Che put in a great performance and deserved his MOM. How the hell Bournmouth did not score is beyond me, let no one actually think they were not the better side by a country mile because they were. We got very lucky and we defended like our lives depended on it. Our morale and self belief is very low and that was painfully clear to see by the way even our best passers of the ball kept giving it away. I'm delighted to get 3 pts and beat that lot down the road BUT we really are very poor ATM.

He has barely featured for his new club since joining them, 2 starts, 3 sub appearances, no assists, no goals........he really wasn't that good!

I can't remember the last time i actually thought we would win a game. There is no chance tonight!

pretty sure Ralph will retire after this job comes to an end. No way he quits, he will wait to be sacked and walk away with his millions and i don't blame him.
-
They play Thursday night and we can but hope they get some knocks and are knackered for Sunday, then at least we might only lose 1-0!
-
games in London are those under threat because of policing demands in the capital. Police are being drafted in from other force areas and that includes Hampshire who are looking to provide mutual aid to the capital. Our game will probably be unaffected.

all games off, officially announced

Gakpo is in PSV's starting line up for the game that kicks off in 20 minutes. Very strange gambling he doesn't royally injure himself!
-
In regards to Gakpo's recent game for PSV against Rangers i totally agree with the above. I remember watching a couple of Celtic games when we were in for Van Dyke as i had never seen him play before and i was very underwhelmed by his half arsed performances.

Thank god we only have to read 3 more days of random completely made up bollocks of who we are supposed to be in for at the very last moment. If all these ridiculous rumours were true we would be buying as many players as Forest. This has been an excellent window for us so far, the new lads are excellent acquisitions and i trust in our new regime.

There is an incoming but not a player and not tomorrow.... Cheltenham Town Under-18s coach Pete Haynes will leave to join Southampton's academy next month. The 27-year-old has been the Robins' lead professional development phase coach since 2017. Haynes was in Cheltenham's academy as a player from Under-14s to Under-16s and has been coaching within the club since.

Only my opinion but Che's body language all pre-season has been that of a player that has wanted out and has told the club he wants out. There is no point holding onto him if he has already said he won't sign a new contract and the club will be right to let him go and hopefully for a half decent fee. I only hope to god we really do have alternatives lined up and that the/or those alternatives are real quality and not massive gambles.
-
well those of us that did watch the pre-season games and paid any attention are not surprised about the formation at all. The only slight surprise is some of the starting 11
-
this is the formation we used all pre-season.....not sure why anyone is surprised with todays?
-
I dreamt last night that we drew 0-0 against the Spuds. To be honest i would happily take that result today. Trying to remain optimistic despite our horrendous opening day record.

Saints are playing AFC Totton tonight in a friendly and the flyer for the game says we are taking a mix of first team, new signings and reserve team players! Personally would be amazed if any first team player featured so close to first game of the season. Should imagine fringe players and possibly our new striker as he can't be anywhere near being ready for the starting 11
-
you do understand i was just pointing out our starting 11 is in my opinion still at least 3 players short of the quality we need. Nowhere have i criticised our new owners and what they are doing. I'm very impressed in the back room talent we have and confident this is the start of a new an exciting era. Never played FIFA in my life.
-
absolutely this! We are short of an imposing EXPERIENCED CB, an exciting attacking and creative winger and a real goal threat of a striker.
-
Just back from the game, first half we were ok but again lacked any creativity. McCarthy can't kick for shit and should be nowhere near the starting 11. Second half not sure what Ralph had said at half time but it worked from the off, we were sharper, hungrier and pressing Monaco all over. Pleased for Adam Armstrong. Stu Armstrong, JWP and Aribo absolute class, these 3 are our game changers!
-
looking forward to seeing the new lads play tonight but please not Lis. Monaco have played more pre-season games than us and have had a good pre-season so far and will be more than a good test for us. I don't want to see RH dicking about with formations and experimental positioning of players 2 games before the season starts. He should know what formation he is going with by now and know who his starting 11 are. Give them the minutes they need.
