  1. 1) Take your time to get your manager, it's one of the biggest decisions you will make. When you get him give him a long period of time to prove himself. 2) Stay in the background. Job satisfaction should come from seeing the club do well rather than getting your face in the paper. 3) Of course balance the books but don't be afraid to take the odd calculated gamble. The odd exciting signing will put bums on seats.
  2. If you are reading - well done Tony Lyneham and everyone else at Pinnacle. I heard you haven't been getting much sleep recently so time for a bit of well deserved rest. Today feels very, very good. -10 in Div 1? Who cares at the moment, we got our club back.
  3. Great news! Our new chairman.................do you think HCDAJFU? (apparently he was quite good)
  4. The longer this goes on the weaker Fry looks. He made some deadline demands, the Pinnacle backers then called his bluff and no-one else came forward. My guess is that he's being made to reverse rather sharpish.
  5. No, you have misunderstood me completely. What I am saying is that if you set a deadline then you'd better be able to back it up else you are going to look stupid. Fry should be trying to keep these negociations as open as possible - as soon as he makes demands that he can't enforce he looks weak and he's not dealing with amateurs. They will be smelling blood IMO.
  6. The longer this one goes on the weaker and shriller Mr Frys demands will become. The guy looks out of his depth against people who know how to negociate hard. He sets deadlines and then breaks them, that makes him look weak and desperate. If the guy really had another strong bidder then surely they would step in but the silence is deafening. £14M? I think he's will be forced to take a reality check.
  7. No, the haggling is still on and I'm still hopeful. I think Fry's shifting deadlines are making him look weak.
  8. After 124 years is this finally it? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2AaElp-mimg
  9. An alternative tune for SFC...........? (and I like it) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6xkT7FMyTc
  10. How about a parachute payment being made when a team gets promoted rather than relegated. This would give promoted teams a better chance to compete in their first season up and open up the leagues a bit more (esp the Coke to Prem jump).
  11. Let's hope Mr Fry isn't feeding us a load of.........
  12. Top 3 Lowe Actions: 1. Leaving in 2006. 2. Leaving in 2009. 3. Saying that he wasn't interested in coming back.
  13. LMFAO, and to think of the stick those of us who have been calling him out as an idiot have taken on here. So he's had a big hand in destroying a bank and a football club, what next? Wasn't he interested in politics? If he ever got his greasy hands on the levers of power then gawd help us......
  14. Not my no 1 choice but he does tick a lot of my boxes and if he came I'd definitely be behind him.
  15. If we got a manager with pulling power installed at a club with a new found belief in itself then maybe we could keep\attract players that would get us out of Div 1 and still be good enough to compete in the championship. With a set of decent players we wouldn't have to overhaul, just buy in 1 or 2 key areas.

    press conference

I've posted this before but Badvoc is 100% genuine on his info and if (and I stress if) what his source has said comes to full fruition then I believe we will all be smiling. However my guess is that there may be some horse trading to be done before a final agreement is arrived at so things may still be fluid. As for the Thursday at 2pm story - didn't this come from Radio Solent\South Today rather than any poster on here?
  17. Yes absolutely. He'd score shed loads but I can't see him wanting to play in league 1.
  18. TBF they were in a nosedive when he arrived and it's not at all easy to pull a team out of a downward spiral, just as Harry Redknapp found out here. I think he would have been well advised to have given the Newcastle job a miss, that club is in a bit of a state at the moment. Although you might not personally want him Shearer is genuine box office. He'd give the long suffering fans of this club a much needed boost.
  19. This would have SMS rocking again. http://www.tribalfootball.com/newcastle-face-southampton-competition-shearer-240985
  20. I never join in on the rumour mill as I don't normally have any info but Badvoc is 100% genuine on this one and if what his source has told him comes to fruition then we are all going to have big smiles on our faces. I have my fingers, arms, legs and toes crossed.
  21. I generally back managers because I believe managerial merry go rounds serve no-one. However (although it's nothing personal towards the guy) I want Wotte gone and the whole Dutch experiment\L**e reign put to bed. There's too much baggage associated with him now + I don't think he's good enough. The fans will rally behind a decent ambitious British manager who understands football at this level and also importantly understands the fans. I'd back someone like Ince or Cotterill all the way, even if we had a poor season because without managerial stability we won't be going anywhere. I backed Burley right to the bitter end and I would with the new guy, just please don't 'experiment' with us anymore, I'm sick and tired of it.
  22. Yes, I've always thought that this club was bigger than it's own management and even fans ever gave it credit for. A football club needs confidence and ambition, without it you are only going to slide down. We could have pushed on to be european contenders after 2003 but that lack of ambition came back to hurt us.
  23. Please, I was having a good day until you mentioned the dreaded word L**e. It's history now, the bogeyman isn't coming back. I'm hopeful the club will be bought then stabilise under the guidance of a decent british manager before trying to get back to where it was. I don't mind if the new owner is not a gazillionaire - just as long as he\she cares about the club and the fans. No-one is dumb enough to invite L**e back to this club, it would be the end.
  24. I'd keep DMG, I think he could be a decent player in Lg 1 with a decent Pearson like manager in charge. I think Surman will go, not sure why so many are down on him. I think he's a good player that struggled in a flimsy side. Put a couple of big bruisers alongside him and he'd shine. All IMO of course.
