  1. Really up for this, a proper league that anyone could win. Ppl are complaining about the first 2 months but if we are serious about getting out of this it's a fantastic opportunity to get some real momentum going. Screw the plastic Prem losing all the time.
  2. Thank god this season has finally ended. Over to you Russell.
  3. I'm happy to back him and look forward to next season. TBH not sure who else we could have appointed who would have been better. Compared to the dismal fare we have been subjected to recently I think next season is going to be a deep breath of fresh air. Who knows, we may even win a few games.

    Ruben Selles

Feel like I did for Ralph, nothing personal but it really is time to part ways. Best of luck Ruben, to be fair you inherited a hot mess but you are not the right manager for us right now.
  5. If Pool have nothing to play for it's going to be a practice session and we may even get a draw out of it. If Pool have something to still play for they will win. Totally irrelevant either way. The real work starts the next day.
  6. Resurrecting this outfit is going to be a hell of a job. They are way way worse than the team that went down in 05. If possible I'd get the new guy in before the Pool game, Selles is done so why bother prolonging the inevitable. Some serious surgery is needed in the next 2 months.
  7. No one on here (presumably) has any say on whether he is appointed or not so you might as well give the guy a chance. I'll be judging him after the transfer window and around the first month of games. We should start to have a good idea of what he's about. I'm personally expecting us to pick up momentum very quickly because that is what you need to get out of this league. The club owes the fans a real shot of promotion after this self inflicted mess of a season. I hope it will be way more exciting than what we've been served up recently.
  8. Big decision. We have a small window of parachute payment opportunity and a big big task ahead of us to get out of this league. I'll give the board a clap for getting the new man in early enough to put his ideas in place. Not sure about his style though. Need to hit the ground running, 2 wins out of every 3 games across a 46 game season leaves zero time for experimentation. Will this guy be able to get the momentum early enough? Don't know but I do think it will be a fun season (finally).
  9. To get into the automatic promotion spots this season you'd have needed 2 points per game, 2 wins out of 3 over 46 games is a huge challenge. A passive manager is not going to cut it IMO. We need to be positive and aggressive and play on the front foot from the start. Not sure this guy fits the bill. Selles certainly doesn't, no offence but he's not going to get us out of this league. He needs to go.
  10. Bring in the kids, good chance to take a look at them as we prepare for a tough championship campaign.
  11. Everton. Highbury 84. Don't think they will go down though.

    Che Adams

I'd like him to stay because I think he'd do very well in the champ and we are going to need lots of goals. Che would be a great fit. He's not going to have a queue of prem clubs wanting him but there may be one or two that would fancy him. If that is the case I hope he goes soon so we can get on with the rebuild.

    Ruben Selles

He needs to be the first to go. If you go into the championship with a mentality of must not lose rather than win you will get nowhere. Last time we had Adkins, we will need another positive character next season. We must get our mojo back ASAP otherwise we are toast.
  14. Absolutely no surprise and deserved. This club needs to find it's mojo and fast otherwise we'll be playing Pompey in a league 1 derby season 24/25. New manager would be first on my list, someone who actually wants to win rather than avoid defeat. We are going to need very careful management if we are to have any chance in the championship but I have no faith in the current mob.

    Busy 63 days

First thing is to get the correct mentality. Need a manager who believes in winning, not just avoiding defeat. That mentality will fail in the championship. Selles to go.
  16. Glad it's over now. If we'd have somehow scraped through this it would have been the same again next season. The rot would still be there. The clear out starts tomorrow. We need players that can rebuild our shattered mojo and put some belief back into the battered fans. We will need some serious healing before we get back into this league.
  17. 4-3 Brighton, no worries.
  18. I'd try and keep Armstrong and Adams up front in the champ. Forget their prem form, they know their way around the champ and have proven themselves in there. If we keep them then we should have some real cutting edge in that league.
  19. If only we'd have kept Europe's most statistically successful manager we'd have been on the beach weeks ago. Sometimes I just don't understand this board.
  20. Best result this w/e was QPR beating Stoke, hopefully the Wall will fall over in the playoffs and Reading can pull out of bottom 3, Huddersfield (a) is a winner takes all shoot out for them. Sod the Prem, deadly dull league. Back to competitive football.
  21. Well at least it's quite simple, repeat the Arse performance over the next 6 games and maybe we could squeak it. Can't see it through and TBH we can have no complaints about where we are.
  22. Good performance but why didn't the players show this against the teams around us? Beat Man City, Chelsea and very nearly Arsenal but yet manage to lose to the lower teams. Bizarre.
  23. Team at the top Vs team at the bottom. I think they'll put 3 past us in the first half and then play practice passing in the 2nd. No way is there going to be a surprise here.
  24. I think we can all assume that Arse (a) is a loss and Newcastle (a) is a loss. Therefore if B'mth turn us over at St Marys (quite likely) we could be down after the Newcastle game. However that's unlikely because either Forest would have to get 9 points from Utd (h), L'pool (a), Brighton (h), Brentford (a) - OR - Everton would need to beat Palace (a), Newcastle (h), Leicester (a). I think it's more likely that we'll go down not by our rivals putting on a run but by us simply stinking the place out and and eventually running out of games. My guess is Leicester on 32 points, same with Forest and Everton on 31. Forest, Everton and Saints to go down.
  25. Football is relative, most fans just want to see their team win regardless of the division. Our promotion run out of league 1 was infinitely more fun than this season. We should at least be more competitive in the championship which will make it more fun than getting tonked week in week out. Who the hell enjoys that?
