My thoughts too. As a fan the prem is an awful league unless you like seeing your team lose all the time. As a club it's £££££.
-
Good player, just hope we can get enough games out of him. When fit he'd be in my 1st team.

Funny I've read a few predictions that we're going to be amongst the contenders next season although I'm not convinced. Maybe it's the Norwich effect? For me it's an outside chance of playoffs at best as there's a lot of strong teams in this division. I think that Birmingham, Blackpool, Leicester, Swansea\Reading, Cardiff, Forest, Leeds, Burnley, Boro, possibly us and even possibly Brighton will be fancying their chances. I think W.Ham will find it difficult to adjust next season. Mid table IMO. TBH I'd be happy to stay in the champ for at least a couple of seasons, from a fans perspective I think it's the best division in the country. Prem is just a moneyed wasteland these days.

2005 by a long way. We were clueless, spineless and most unforgivably had given up long before the final knockout. Total disgrace. The teams at the bottom of the prem were like a load of punch drunk boxers desperately trying to cling to the ropes before the final bell. Unfortunately we couldn't even do that. By 2009 I was hardened to perpetual disappointment having witnessed: Almost a decade of L**e the clueless. Relegation from the prem. Saints 3 - Leeds 4 (when I realised that the rot had really set in). L**e removed. Temporary mirage of a revival followed by a play off defeat. Another season of disappointment. The return of L**e. Pearson sacked. The final bonkers Dutch appointment. Thank the lord we now have a competent owner.

That will be hit too. Football has been trying to defy gravity since the credit crunch started but sooner or later fundamentals will kick in. Being as the vast majority of money goes on player salaries they are just going to have to take less. 'Value for money' or not, lots just can't afford it and those that can will probably start to feel the pinch at some future stage. We're not in a recession - we're actually in a new economic reality and it isn't going away anytime soon. Economic bounce? LOL.

Me too. If we could squeeze in George Boyd I'd be an even happier chappy .
-
Crikey - his Wikipedia entry is so bad it's comic. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Pulis He's had a good run at football but its getting pretty obvious that it's time to have a rethink about his career. Whatever he does all the best of luck to the guy.

Ah well, justice was done in the end.
-
Although it would be incredibly harsh on Hudds I'd like to see B'mouth get through. Have we ever had 4 south coast teams together in the same league?
-
I like Holmes and hope we can finally get him for a full season. It's been frustrating knowing that our best crosser is always on the treatment table. If no-one bids for him it's all academic anyway.
-
Agree with this. He's a decent player but we already have Lambert and Barnard who can do his job, what we badly need is pace. If Posh don't go up then CMS please, he'd be dynamite in the champ.
-
Its the best run I can remember and I've been following this club since the very early 80s. I think we had a great run at the end of 83/84 but it still wasn't as good as this one.
-
On behalf of a good friend of mine who is a Walsall fan and was very happy that we won at Plymouth (funnily enough) I'd be happy with a draw.
-
Sign a quality CB\CM\Striker, get our pre season right for once, continue our momentum and hit the ground running, aim for top 2. If we get 3 quality additions in these key areas I see no reason why we can't challenge right at the top. After all Norwich did it this season.
-
1. CMS 2. Andrew Davies 3. Neil Danns 4. George Boyd 5. BT???
-
3-1 Saints. Promotion tonight IMO. COYS.
-
Finally after a 44 game slog we can actually see that finishing line. I predict we'll be (effectively) up by the end of Monday and then we can get down to preps for the new season in the championship. Please nice Mr Cortese, can we get CMS? He'd be dynamite in the champ.
-
I think a fit and motivated BT would be an excellent 2 year signing for the championship as long as he was realistic on wage demands. However I wouldn't want BT (despite having very fond memories of his time here) if it meant that we didn't go for someone like CMS (who would be my no1 target).

- Great win in what was a tricky fixture. - We are now bang on form and 6 points are perfectly achievable. Auto promotion will happen. - Respect to Huddersfield, we've been flying yet they've been like a dog chewing at our leg for what seem like ages now. - Brighton should count themselves very lucky that we had our usual crap start.
-
I don't care what football shirt the people in the car were wearing, if you act like those thugs did then you deserve to be punished. They should not be allowed out in public until they learn how to behave like civilized human beings.
-
I think we'll beat Brentford and Hudders will get a draw at Brighton. Then we'll get (effectively) promoted by drawing at Plymouth. Then it's party time at St Mary's as we (and Hudders) win our last games.

The old Stamford Bridge was a dump. You were so far from the pitch that there was a car park between you and the players. What a soulless bowl. Elm park was crap - toilets were a wall painted with gloss paint, the away end at the City ground was a wind tunnel and Fratton smelt of wee. Best away end for me was Carrow road, it was long and steep and made for some superb surges that took you 10-15m down the terrace. No longer there thanks to good old health and safety.
-
Absolutely - the difference between us and BHA was our tediously predictable 'balls up' of a start. The title was lost in those first 7 games as the remaining 35 games have seen us neck and neck (assuming we win the next match). Next season please can we get the pre season right and actually hit the ground running for once!!
-
Hopefully a stung BHA will beat Huddersfield and we'd then only need 2 wins from 4 - we wouldn't even need to win any of the away games (assuming Hudders don't catch up on our GD). Come on Brighton!
