  1. A new top class GK would be my no 1 priority if we get to the prem. KD has been superb for us and his performance at Leeds was something else but sentimentality won't keep you up. The main difference between PL and the champ is finishing. Sorry Kelv, you've been brilliant for us but we are going to need a top class GK to give us a chance of staying up.
  2. The way West Ham are stumbling along I think 6 points away to Posh and home to Reading is highly unlikely. Teams don't generally perform 180 degree turns in form just like that. Posh will be no pushovers at their place (2nd highest home scorers) and Reading have a decent away form (whilst Wham's home form is mediocre at best). Besides which, it's not as if Wham have been unlucky getting all their recent draws. A fair few of them were last minute salvage jobs rather than them being pinned back in the last minute. I think a draw at Posh and a draw\loss to Reading is a much more accurate prediction than 2 wins.
  3. Perfect results are Wham to lose at Posh, Reading beat Wham and we beat Reading. If those results were added to the current table we'd need 7 points from 6 games for auto and 11 points from 6 games for top spot.
  4. Jason Roberts was looking like a good signing till recently.
  5. What a tit that fan is but let's be honest, there are quite a few on here too. Still think Wham! will make it by the skin of their teeth (due to a Reading stumble) but I'd rather they didn't. Personally I don't want the walking depression that is Sam Alladyce anywhere near us next season. He just brings a downer on everybody.
  6. Just enjoy the ride, we're winning games and having a ball. This might be the last season for a while that we are so dominant so stop worrying.......breathe it in, relish it and store it in the memory box. Anyway, if we win we go up and if we lose we stay in what I consider to be a more fun league anyway. Win-win and a whole bunch of fun as far as I'm concerned.
  7. Knowing Saints this will be a lot trickier than Hull but let's just get the 3 points and hammer another nail into our promotion bid.
  8. Well, well - our result tonight was a real bonus and the results around us made it a double bonus. West Ham have a real issue at home (thanks to Alladyce's negative mindset) with 4 home games left to play and Reading are finally cracking at exactly the wrong time with an extremely tough run of games coming up. We on the other hand are looking stronger and stronger. Win our home games and we'll be there IMO.
  9. I think Saints will get top 2. As for the other one, depends if Sam the moaner can overcome his defensive mindset and get Wham attacking (and winning) at home. Reading will drop points so it's up to Wham to take advantage. It's going to be tight but my gut feeling is Wham will just shade it (unfortunately). Therefore play off contenders for me will be: Reading Brum Blackpool One of Leeds\Boro\Brighton No idea who'll win it but we deffo don't want to go into playoffs!!!
  10. Of course not, Ricky is a big part but we'd still have plenty in the tank if he was out. Good for us though if the opposition think it's all about Ricky. Overcompensating for him should give Lee, Sharp, Lallana, Connoly, Guly, SDR and Chappers many more opportunities to capitalise, all of whom are more than capable of taking advantage. We've got goals all over the place.
  11. Nice one, love games like that. This + Leeds have been pivotal results. Just win at Palace + our home games and it's job done.
  12. NA won't be getting the England job at the moment but as has been mentioned he will most certainly be on the radar of a lot of prem clubs. However he comes across as a loyal kind of guy (his demands for compo for Scunny really put him up in my estimation) so I would imagine it would have to be something very special to tempt him away from this club. The obvious choice would be Liverpool or Everton but I can't see Dalglish and certainly not Moyes being relieved any time soon. I'm confident that he'll be our manager come August, whatever division we are in.
  13. 'Biggest waste of cash' is a bit harsh, whilst he hasn't set the world on fire with his square balls he's a decent enough squad player behind Chappers and Cork. Mind you, the £1.2M makes the £1M we paid for Ricky look like an absolute steal. I'd like to see MS shoot a bit more because when he does he's not bad atall, the goal at Forest was great.
  14. Leeds could be our best friends over the next few weeks, they play both Wham and Reading and if they play like they did against us I can see them taking points off both. Still not sure how we won up there but it felt like a real turning point. Leeds are my dark horses for promotion - if they could squeak into the playoffs I think they would win it. Who'd have thought it, everyone at Saints wishing moany Warnock the best of luck.
  15. Relax, my footie predictor has us being up by then. 1 Saints 91pts 2 Reading 85pts 3 Wham 83pts
  16. Somewhere in the bottom pack of clubs in the prem, biting our fingernails off about whether we can stay up. Just like old times....
  17. At the moment Lee is preferred but Billy Sharp's time will come. Sooner or later there will be an injury\loss of form or just general tiredness amongst our front 2 and then Sharp gets his turn. It's just part of being a squad player. It's a great position for us to be in.
  18. Well done Ricky, absolutely brilliant player and hugely deserved. Now go out and finish the job for the Saints!
  19. 6 more wins (87 total) should definitely do it. Win all at home + Palace\Millwall (a) and we're there. Just need to keep on doing what we've already been doing all season.
  20. Good result and another 3 points. IMO we're now 6 wins away from almost certain promotion. Win our home games + Millwall\Palace (a) and we're there. Might even be able to do it with another 16 points but it would be tight. Keep your heads Saints and steer this ship home.
  21. Just to note that whilst Brum (a) sounds tough it will very much depend on whether they have made playoffs by then. If they have then they'll put out a 2nd XI and it could be a stroll for Reading. Let's all hope they still need 3 points going into that game.....
  22. That's why this is such a fantastic competitive league, one that I would be sad to leave. That said, we are well capable of getting the 2 wins so that should be the expected target. 71 points with 10 games to go is a powerful position to be in. Reading have Pompey and Leicester at home, Pompey are fighting for their lives and Leicester are going all out for a playoff place so let's hope they play as well at Reading as they did at St Marys. West Ham have Watford and Doncaster at home. I can only see 2 wins TBH although they can be a bit dogy on home turf. Come on Saints, keep your heads and see this through - promotion is soooo close now!
  23. It's not the 4-0 canters that champions are made of, it's the gritty, down and dirty 1-0's at places like Leeds where promotions are gained. We may have rode our luck but by crickey, the determination in defence was incredible. 6 more home games, if we can get 6 wins and pick up wins at Millwall and Palace then we will do it. For the first time I'm starting to smell promotion. Someone buy KD a pint - he was bl**dy awesome.
  24. 2 words............Kelvin Davis.
  25. Reading's last 4 away games are at West Ham, Brighton, Saints and Birmingham so I can see them dropping a fair few points in those. They will hit a sticky patch between now and season's end.
