That would be my suggestion too, quality keeper who would fit straight in. KD has had a magnificent season and has been incredibly loyal but prem attacks won't spare him any mercy because he's a 'good guy'. If you want to know what we will be facing week in week out next season just cast your mind back to what the Reading strikers did to us, 3 decent attacks, 3 goals. My No 1 priority would be to get the very best keeper that we can between the posts, could be worth at least 10 points over the course of a prem season. Someone on another thread suggested Cammy Bell at Kilmarnock who might not be a bad shout too.

Cheers though I'll be happy with 4th from bottom next season to consolidate. Spent a year living in a bloody freezing house around 100m from Carrow Rd back in my student days, you could tell the score on a Sat afternoon just by listening to the cheers. Can also remember drinking in the pub that was under the main Wensum? stand with the likes of Robert Fleck and Ruel Fox. Is that bar still open? If I can get the readies together it's one I'd like to make a trip to, would be good to have a pint in the Ribs of Beef\Edith Cavell again.

No excuses for that kind of behaviour and you have to feel for the staff who have to put up with idiots like that on a regular basis. Just out of interest Turkish, being as you seem to have a real problem with the 'helmets' on here why do you continue to post?

Tickets still available if you're interested

All the best Cov, whilst I have absolutely no connection with the city I feel for the fans who have had to put up with a lot because that was us for a long time too. That and the fact that we were both scrapping away in the prem together for many years makes me feel a connection too. My honest view is that I think you're going to have to go through the fire of administartion before you rid yourself of the current blood suckers so a drop to league 1 might hasten the process for you. Also League 1 isn't so bad, it maybe the making of you if you can finally turn things around and start moving in an upwards trajectory. All the best - still hope we stuff you though.

'We - are - premier - league.....I say we are premier league' * 10 Seriously, If we go about tomorrow in a professional way we will be a prem club by 2.30pm.

Picture I took a few minutes after relegation in 2005

If that's the Northam I'm in there somewhere. Man, that was a bad day made all the worse by Roy Keane giving it large after the game. What a prize tosser he was. The good side of it though was learning that there is life outside the prem, got more perspective on that plastic league now. -
Not going to happen, we'll give Cov a good sendoff by dishing out a right beating at SMS. It's a bit of a phantom game really - neither team will be in the champ next season. Have a little faith.

Just looked it up in my copy of 'In That Number' and apparently the scorers were: Dave Armstrong (28) Danny Wallace (36,64,85) Stevie Moran (57,76,82) Frankie Worthington (69) So looks like we scored 2 goals at HT and 6 goals in the 2nd half. Apparently it was Danny Wallace's only Saints hat-trick which surprises me. Great team and a classic game, one of my early ones.
-
That was a great game. Remember the Cov GK Perry Suckling having a complete mare. Most of the carnage happened in the 2nd half when we were on fire. I think it was 2-1 at HT? Lets do it again on Sat.
-
Me too, this is exactly what football is all about. Frankly I'm happy Wham won as it means that we will have to clinch it on Sat. The joy of sport comes from overcoming the challenge. If you'd have asked me to pick a team to play at home for promotion I would have picked Cov. They have nothing to play for, have no really dangerous players and have no animosity against us. Looking forward to Sat and a beer (or two) whilst watching us tear Cov a new one. Don't worry, in 5 days time SFC will be a prem team................and then you can all start worrying about relegation next season
-
My prediction? Wham win 10-0 tonight and are 15-0 up on Sat. Saints struggle to beat a dogged Cov rearguard action and as we go into the 93rd minute the score is still 0-0. Lambert gets sent off for dissent and heads drop, playoffs here we come........then suddenly Guly produces a sublime piece of fleet footed magic to burst through before getting tripped by a dirty Cov defender. Billy Sharp smashes it home and the crowd invade the pitch after one of the tensest games in SFC history. Guly is given the freedom of the city. Easy this prediction lark innit.

If Liverpool came in Ricky would go and I wouldn't begrudge him too. It's his hometown club, has a better chance of silverware at the moment and frankly the guy has earnt his dues - he's done it the hard way and every reasonable fan I think would understand. That said, I really can't see why Liverpool would go for a 30 year old championship striker when they already have a 24 year old potential England striker in their squad + they could go for a more established forward if they decided to drop Carroll. Would be an unlikely move by them IMO.
-
Against Cov, will be great to win it at home and would also draw out the agony for Wham. Have a little faith - we'll beat Cov regardless of what Wham do.
-
Love how Cov are being magically transformed into some kind of championship force, even after they have been relegated. The reality is that they are complete gash and if we do a professional job we will beat them and we will go up. Even if Cov somehow managed to grab their 1% chance of an upset and Wham somehow managed to get above us we'd still be in the playoffs and if that failed we'd just have to have another cracking season in the champ. More interested now about who we are going to sign and how we are going to do in the prem.

Feeling fairly deflated at the moment. Just like the Reading game we were too fond of the square ball and didn't attack with any pace which meant the Boro defence had plenty of time to regroup. The real disappointment is that whilst Reading are a decent team, Boro are distictly average and we still couldn't put them away even with the carrot of automatic promotion dangled infront of us. We'll still go up - I'm totally confident about that BUT we'll be seriously found out in the prem unless we attack with pace in a much more direct style. We also need as good a GK as we can get our hands on, no blame on KD tonight and he has been superb for us, but our defence is going to get tested like nothing else next season and we need a top notch keeper to at least give us a chance - sentimentality doesn't win games.

Jack Butland, current U21 GK. Probably one for the future but a very decent prospect. Would depend if Brum got promoted or not.

GK: Alan McGregor CM: Neil Danns FW: Gary Hooper

Because that's how business works. Supply and demand. If you buy in volume you buy at cheaper prices - just look at how the supermarkets price offers. Same goes for selling, a larger supply will lead to a drop in price unless demand rises to meet the extra supply. If they kept the current ticket prices I don't think demand would rise sufficiently therefore prices would have to come down but that would be OK as long as overall profit went up (after all the expansion financing\admin costs). Selling 48,000 seats @ £20 gives you more revenue than 30,000 seats @ £25 so from the club's perspective they would still make more money + they get a load more fans in generating a more hostile atmosphere (hopefully). That's a very simplistic example, in reality I'm sure there would be lots of offers (like the supermarket) but if done correctly the overall effect should be to increase profit. I think it's possible but they'd be walking a tightrope between making a good profit on a packed stadium vs making a potential loss on an empty stadium.
-
Maybe - really depends on how he went about it. Getting 45K on a regular basis would be a very big ask for a club like SFC so I can't see how he wouldn't have to reduce prices but as long as overall profits increased then from a business case it would be a good thing. A bigger stadium would also allow the club more flexibility to get smarter with ticket prices. Maybe super cheap entry for young kids - the club's future? Maybe graded discounts for those who attend more games? Lots of potential for the marketing department to come up with innovative schemes. Bottom line is could the club generate more profit from a bigger stadium and could they get the sheer numbers in to fill it? I think they could BUT they would have to offer at least some cheaper seats and be very smart with their ticketing price structures.

Hopefully Brum, Blackpool and Cardiff all win at 3pm so Boro have no chance of playoffs by the time we kick off. Also want Blackpool and Cardiff to keep the pressure on Brum for 4th place (to avoid playing Wham) to stop them slacking off in the last game against Reading. We're going up - now it's all about whether we can get top spot.

4-0 to us and Wham to lose 2-1. 6 points ahead of Wham with 2 games to go and +8 GD. Easy this football lark innit.
