Fortunately it's only Blackburn making a bid, if it were a prem team I'd be more concerned. We must keep Ricky, he's our best striker, a real talisman and given the service can do a fine job in the prem. Besides which I think he - more than just about anyone else - really deserves a crack at this league. This story is going nowhere but if a bigger prem team comes sniffing then I would be more concerned.

MLT - priceless.

Never laughed as hard at a thread as I did at this one. Numpties who know nothing predicting after 2 games that our manager is already sacked. You couldn't make it up.

My expectations were to get less than 3 points from the first 6 fixtures so not too concerned. From the day we clinched promotion I expected this season to be really tough and 17th would be a great achievement. This is a tough league, the finishing is razor sharp and if you do not have a fantastic defence you will regularly ship goals, even when you dominate a game. That's why I'd been hoping for a top class GK + CB all summer long. I suspect the fans who are getting the most upset are the ones that expect us to be challenging for top 6. Wigan should have given the dreamers a big reality check. Remember Reading last season? We battered them but their superior finishing cost us. That's what you can expect in this league over and over. We are in a dog fight but I believe we can stay up, we do need to adapt ASAP though.

I'd say the way the Don is handling this transfer is absolutely bang on and if all football clubs did it like him then maybe a lot of them wouldn't be up a s**t creek without a paddle. A seller offers something at a price they want and the buyer offers to buy at a price they want. Normally both sides have a bit of flexibility and if they are close enough they meet somewhere in the middle. Looks to me like the Don has made his final bid and won't budge so either Bologna agree or both parties walk away. From what I am reading I'd say the Don is in a strong position so he has no need to change his bid. However if a 3rd party comes in Bologna gets the upper hand and he would have to decide whether to renegociate or let it go. Sounds like you would just throw money around without a clue.
-
If Bologna are holding back because they want all the cash up front then the Don is playing this one correctly. Bologna have every right to accept what they want and we have every right to offer what we want. The two sides haven't met so a deal hasn't been done but NC is bang on to only offer what he feels is a correct price and payment timescale. If it happens then great, if not then move on.
-
Good article but they are fighting a losing battle with one eyed supporters. Many fans believe what they want to believe and rubbish the rest. If anyone posted a link on the recent Ramirez saga saying that the deal was off it got rubbished as 'lazy journalism' or 'rehashed rubbish' whereas a link saying he was coming was treated with interest. Truth is no-one knows, not even the parties doing the negociations. There are some seriously one eyed people on here.

Bring it on. I can remember the way past it legend that was Frank Worthington and his 1 year stint at the club in 83-84. He used to stand in the center circle, flick balls up and catch them on the back of his neck for a bit of pre match entertainment. Quality stuff.

Don't know if this one has been posted but here goes.... Gaston Ramirez back on Liverpool and Spurs radar as Saints move stalls

Didn't Lowe also hire people to post 'Rupert is great' propaganda on here? +

Managerial merry go round for a decade leading to utter instability and a bloated squad of disjointed journeymen that were not good enough. Buying players without the manager's input. As if Rupes had the first idea about what made a good player. He even bought injured players . Bizarre tinkering with the coaching infrastructure, rugby coaches and soccer skills coaches being paid big bucks for some strange master plan. Alienation of fans and utterly gash PR. Giving Harry Redknapp 90k to spend when he had assembled a team that was (IMO) 1 good striker short of being able to compete for top 2 on a shoestring. This was after having sold off Crouch and Phillips. Dumping a decent manager in Nigel Pearson and appointing a pair of Dutch uknowns who sank without trace. Being the source of constant political infighting. Finally running out on a broken and busted club, leaving it for dead. Thanks Rupes for all your efforts.....and yes I will give you some credit for an academy but don't forget we'd always had one, where do you think the likes of Chivers, Channon, Wallace, Shearer and LeTiss had all come from?

Before the game I thought we'd get a hiding but afterwards I'm dissapointed not to have picked up a point which could be vital come May. We should have gone for their throats at 2-1 but I think we were surprised to be in that position and went deep. However, the performance will have given the team + fans confidence that we can challenge in this league. They now know that if we play like that most weeks we can steer clear of the bottom 3 and that is a huge psychological boost.
-
Great performance but dissappointed we didn't go for City's throat when we were 2-1 up and looked like we could open them up with ease. A point dropped in the end. Still, heads held high and a performance like that must surely give them the belief that they can mix it with the best.
-
Quick question - Is this the first Uruguayan we've ever signed? Can't think of any others.
-
Man City to dandy around the pitch in complete disdain of us until Ricky smashes one in the back of the net from a Fox cross, then they wake up and give us a hiding without actually scoring untill the 93rd minute when the ref gives them the dodgiest of penno decisions and they equalise. 1-1 and NA causes a row by using the post match comments to accuse Citeh of being a bunch of overpaid disrespectful cheats. The Saints coach speeds out of Manc land rather sharpish as the locals go ape. Then again.................probably be 5-0 to Citeh.
-
Well it's not as if we haven't done it before. Off the top of my head players like Glenn Cockerill, Colin Clarke, Mark Wright and Brett Ormerod were all plucked from lower leagues and did a great job for us. From a technical perspective I see nothing wrong with the club signing quality champ\lge 1 players + hopefully they won't act like billy big boots when they arrive.
-
I think it would be best for all concerned if the club folded. It's never been properly run in my lifetime, a 50 year old tragedy in the making. Maybe their fans could re-start a new club and this time make sure the sharks stay away. Out of curiosity where would a new PFC start in the league pyramid?

As long as Saints give it their best shot I'll be happy. Remember it's a marathon, not a sprint and 17th is the target. Just bear in mind that we have a really tough intro so we may be playing catchup for a long part of the season. The plus side is that we get 4 of the toughest games out the way before October. FWIW Citeh to underestimate us and take their foot off the pedal, 1-1 final score (JayRod)
-
I'm neither. I have realistic expectations and will be happy if we hit them (stay up) but won't be down if we don't (relegated). Whilst I'm braced for a few pumellings I think this season is going to be interesting. If we can stay up then I think we'll consolidate and be much stronger next year so this season is a big one for Nigel and the team. COYR.
-
I think its because they dared to predict that we would come bottom. Anyone who predicts that gets attacked by the one eyed lot on here. Reality is this is going to be a tough season. The Reading match gave us an early taste of what we can expect, razor sharp finishing which sank us that night despite having most of the possession. Seriously, some of our fans need to reel in their expectations as they are setting themselves up for disappointment. Survival will be a great achievement.
-
Another reality check for the one eyed on here. 17th was and still is my expectation, if we survive we'll have done well this season. Keep on thinking we should have bought a quality keeper, KD is going to get beaten a lot this season and the team are going to have to show some real grit.
-
17th would do me just fine. That should be a bit of a reality check for the more one eyed on here.

Man City announce ticket details for Saints

3-0 SRL hat-trick. -
Par for the course will be 17th. Mid table would be an extremely good season. Relegation would be dissapointing but not entirely unexpected.

Best of luck to him. He's going to need it if he wants to get paid at Pompey.
