  1. Yes we were denied a penalty but I always felt that had converted it Leicester would have just scored another. Another game where we concede far too easily because of a manager whose 'philosophy' is fundamentally at odds with survival. On paper Ramsdale, KWP, Bednarek, THB and Taylor should be competitive if coached correctly so why aren't they? It's even more baffling considering the manager was himself a centre half. December looks quite punishing so either we get moving before the end of November or I think that will be that for this season.
  2. Agreed, these are our best attacking options so play them RM.
  3. The championship is a much better league because it is competitive. You can get to the last game of the season with half the league still having to play for something. The prem is the opposite, the top is permanently sealed up by the big boys and even relegation is becoming more predictable with promoted clubs starting at such a disadvantage. It's moribund as well as being commercialised to death. If the top 6 formed a European league the prem would become a lot more interesting for fans, not just the likes of us but the big boys too - they'd have genuine competition week in week out. As long as the domestic leagues had access to this league I think it would be good all round.
  4. The result is pretty irrelevant but in Onachu, Dibbling, Archer and Lallana there may be a workable attack. Add a properly coached defence and a hard working midfield and we could at least be competitive. We were always going to struggle but a better manager would be able to get enough from this team to at least keep them in the final shake up.
  5. Weirdly enough I think this may be closer than we think. This is Saints after all, they lead you to despair only to pull something totally unexpected out of the hat. Also Ramsdale will want to put in an even bigger shift than usual. 6-0 to the Arse.
  6. I've always liked Moyes, a proven decent manager who knows his way around the prem. I don't know if he could get us out of this but I'm sure we'd be a hell of a lot more competitive than we are right now. This team is better than the current performances IMO. Plus I think we'd have a fair chance of landing him. If they are going to change the manager I hope they don't delay - right now would be fine by me. No-one is expecting us to get anything out of Arse so the new guy could at least have a chance of taking a look at what he's got with no expectations.
  7. RM was an average champ mgr who got lucky and is now drowning. There is no learning curve, no understanding of what he's up against and how to deal with it. Week in week out it's the same failing tactics. Why wait any longer? Get someone in who can work with what we have and mold at least a team that is hard to beat. With the right guy I still think we have a shot at survival especially as I think it's going to be a low points threshold this season. Stick with RM and I think we'll be effectively down by Xmas.
  8. If we had a pragmatic manager this is a game we should be looking to grind out a low score draw or a 1-0 win. With RM however I suspect we'll play open football and get picked off again.
  9. If Potter gets the job I'd be underwhelmed but he did manage to keep up a Brighton team not too dissimilar to us at the time. It was boring but also It was no mean feat. We need the same - someone to make us defensively strong and able to hit on the counter. We've got a good keeper, a reasonable defence (if coached properly) and a hard working midfield so lets start playing to our strengths. RM thinks we can take on prem teams playing open football but in reality we are beggars at the prem banquet and the sooner we get someone who understands this the sooner we can get competitive. I would not be excited by Potter but he may be just what we need?
  10. Well a win's a win, something to build on and hopefully gives us some confidence. Positive stuff. If we are serious about surviving this is how we do it - keep the defence tight and hopefully nick a goal or two. Russball is totally incompatible with this. Will RM make the changes needed?
  11. We're not going to win games in this league with RMs style, unless Stewart turns out to be a star (if\when he plays) we don't have good enough strikers to outscore opponents playing open football in this league. We need someone who can organise a defence and make us hard to beat. IMO we do have a defensive unit that could be very competitive with the right coaching. Clean sheets + the odd goal from the forwards is how I'd try to survive. Boring to watch? Yes. Enough to keep us up? Maybe, maybe not but hopefully would keep us in touch. We are sunk with Russball.
  12. IMO the only route to survival or at least a respectable relegation is defence. IMO we simply do not have the attacking capability to outscore opponents in free flowing games. I believe we do have a defence that could be competitive, our GK is good and the back 4, if coached well, could be a decent unit. Grinding out clean sheets is the only survival strategy. Then its up to the strikers to nick enough goals to keep us in the hunt. RM is not going to organise a decent defence in a month of Sundays. If the board don't want to see their money flushed down the khazi we need a manager that can at least make us hard to beat and ASAP.
  13. No threat up front and a defence that is too easily opened up. We look out of place in this league. I thought the board would give RM 10 games but he may be gone sooner. His team is mentally weak.
  14. Hopefully he'll turn it around as I have no desire for a sacking BUT if his tactics are being routinely showed up week after week and he does nothing about it then he should be shown the door before the damage becomes critical and the new guy has no chance to rescue things. The board will expect a good stab at survival having put reasonable cash into the team and IMO we do have a team that can compete - but not with this kamikaze defending. My guess is they give him around 10 games (Everton (h) 2nd Nov) to see if he's up to it. Personally I prefer the champ so relegation would not be a problem for me - but then I'm not going to lose millions over it.
  15. If RM doesn't change course pretty soon he should be sacked off. He's delusional if he thinks we can play like that and survive. This kamikaze defending will see us effectively down by Christmas.
  16. Great signing, proper GK and with him the defence now looks competitive. Goals are still a concern but it looks like we have a fighting chance to survive now.
  17. Sounds like he's in the Bryan Robson\Michael Ballack mold from yesteryear. If he's anywhere as good he'll be a great player.
  18. Great deal! Best of luck in France, for whatever reason it just did not work here.
  19. Was thinking the same thing, if we are on a constrained budget then Ings would IMO be a shrewd acquisition. He's never been a player that relied on pace so his age is less of an issue than for other strikers. Most importantly he knows where the goal is.
  20. Another one for Osvaldo, genuinely thought he could have become a legend at the club. He had the class but the head wasn't there unfortunately.
  21. I wouldn't disagree with that % figure, right now we look relegation material. Thankfully the transfer window is still open so if we can get a decent GK, striker and hopefully AM we'll have a fighting chance.
  22. I'm another one of the age where Steve Moran was a legend. The first player I was truly gutted to see leave. Would love him in this team. His mum was also one of my old teachers and lived just up the road. She was a nice lady. Hope he makes a full recovery and if the club ever invited him to make a half time appearance I'm sure he'd get a fantastic reception.
  23. Closer than I thought it would be but when will England learn that you'll never win anything with a defeatist 'hold on to what you have' kind of attitude. I hope Southgate goes, I'd rather watch entertaining football that takes a risk than this. We have some decent players, let them play.
  24. Spain have been the best in the tournament but England have some good finishers and that gives them a puncher's chance. I predict England will score and then Southgate will revert to the tried and tested 9-0-1 formation.
  25. Great first half followed by a tight 2nd. Pen was soft but Eng were unlucky not to get a Foden goal, 2nd goal was fantastic. Fair dues England, I've slagged them but tonight was a good show. Better of the two teams tonight. Southgate is a lucky manager but I'll take that.
