  1. Leicester are 4th to bottom and they look on track for 35 points. Therefore for Saints to get 30 from 22 games is the form of a 51 point season. If the new guy manages that then he'd have performed miracles. Personally if we could get 20-25 points I'd be happy. It would also prove that RM was always the problem. We'll find out in time.

From what I've read it's a shame we couldn't have brought him in 10 games ago. If he can organise the defence, apply a press and give the team some spirit I'll be happy, relegation or not. First things first, let's get past that Derby record and see where we go from there.
  3. Relegation is all but mathematically assured now but we can still go down with at least a 2nd half of the season that shows some team coherence, spirit, pride and determination. The fans at least deserve that. I don't want bs philosophies, I want a pragmatic and flexible manager that believes in an organised defence, a midfield capable of quickly bringing the ball forward and attackers that are willing to take their chances. I want a team that looks much fitter than this one. Finally I want to see a team that looks like it will be competitive in the championship.
  4. Nothing personal but I didn't rate him last season and he really got shown up in this one. He should have been shown the door 10 games ago. I have no faith that SR will get the next one right but that doesn't change the fact that RMs time was way overdue. New guys target is to avoid the Derby record and get the team playing coherently and with their tails up, ready for the championship next season
  5. Whatever it costs to sack him it's loose change vs the loss of earnings from a prem place, even at the bottom. Therefore if they really are going to hold on to him I can only assume it's because they already think we are down so why waste more money. Keep him and see if he can get us back up in the remaining 2 seasons. After all he did it last time (just) so maybe worth another go? However that assumes the board actually have a strategy. Alternatively maybe they really do think he's the new football messiah and this season is but a mere blip??
  6. Don't forget it would take a new manager a run of games to purge RM's ways from the team. Even if the new person had an immediate effect we'd still need the form of a 50 point season over the next 23 games just to be in the mix. It's not impossible but the slope is already very steep.
  7. Don't worry Sports republic have everything under control.... ]
  8. In all honesty it's really looking too late to save us this season but if a new guy could galvanised the team and get them playing with their tails up then at least we'd go down with a chance of bouncing back. I think that's what most realistic fans would hope for now. To have a chance of survival come the final game we'd have to show the form of a 50 point season and that is not happening in the next 5-10 games. I'd love to be proved wrong though.
  9. In 40 years I have never seen a Saints team so utterly adrift as I'm seeing this season. I'm starting to seriously question if we can even get past Derby's all time low points tally of 11. I feel for the season ticket holders, this club does not seem to give a damn about it's fans.
  10. RM blaming the sending off for the outcome. Sums him up. I hope the board is looking for a new manager and being as relegation is all but mathematically certain they have the luxury now of being able to take their time. They need to get it right, another bad appointment and things could slide quite quickly. Trouble is that leads us to the biggest problem - the board itself. I don't trust them to get it right and unlike RM they are harder to get rid of. We are in a bit of a state at the moment.
  11. It seems to me that the big RM divide amongst fans are those that think the players are simply not good enough and that's not RMs fault VS others like myself who think that the players are capable of at least putting up a decent fight but that RM simply does not have what it takes. The reason I have been thinking like that since last season is because we continually suffer from self inflicted mistakes that a better manager would have corrected. For example we are constantly leaking goals with the tippy tappy football at the back, RM got away with it in the champ but not in the PL. IMO a better manager would have quickly seen that it doesn't work, scrapped it and put in a more pragmatic system that suits these players based on no nonsense defence plus fast break outs. Listening to RM last night he simply does not seem capable of seeing this and I don't think he has what it takes to adapt. We all have our opinions but for me that's why he is a very limited manager.
  12. Listening to some of his comments last night the most damning thing about him is not the losing but the fact that he's not learning anything, just goes through the same old motions. Funnily enough the pressure is off now, our fate is all but mathematically sealed and the club can take time to get a decent successor. RM has a low ceiling, we need better.
  13. The sad thing is we'll never know if this team was good enough to survive, RM isn't giving them the slightest chance to prove it.
  14. It's getting so bizarre that it makes you wonder what their game is. Most likely though it's just pure ego and incompetence.
  15. With the games coming up that looks to be that. Even if he goes on Monday it may well be too late now.
  16. I don't think so. He gets to play every week and takes home a good pay packet. If he manages to keep us up he'll be a hero, if he doesn't no-one will blame him. He'll be able to move on to another club if we go down, no way a GK that good will be ignored. He'll be OK. Just enjoy him while he is here.
  17. I think Aaron Ramsdale now has the bit between his teeth and is going to put out a big performance to keep a clean sheet. Archer to nick a goal and Saints to win 1-0.
  18. We rode our luck but a win is a win. It's a start. Ramsdale was excellent, he really kept us in it. Now we need to build on this and get another 3 against Wolves. Still a very long way to go but a couple of wins would do wonders for confidence.
  19. Agree, I'd have Dyche in a heartbeat. He makes RM look like a schoolboy. He will tell them to press high and let our kamikaze defending do the rest. 3-1 to them.
  20. If we have a pitch Invasion can we get the season cancelled?
  21. Come on SR and do the obvious thing. When you are at home and barely scrape past a struggling championship team who are not even trying surely you must realise that he needs to be removed. Presumably you'd like to maintain the £200m or so that comes with being a prem team? Or are you as out of your depth as he is?
  22. Meaningless game and result. Like putting a tiger up against a puppy. City just kept us at arms length and took the points. Everton is what matters. We simply need to get moving or we are done for the season. Play Onachu, Archer, Dibling, Lallana and Fernandez and at least give us a chance in that game.
  23. Osvaldo never fitted here but seemed to do well elsewhere. Not sure if we didn't get the best out of him or if he was never going to fit. Shame as he would have been a hell of a player if he'd had his head straight.
  24. Is there no-one internally that might fit or are they all wedded to the RM style themselves? At least they should have a good idea of what players they have.
  25. I like him, he looks like he has prem quality about him if he's given the service. I want to see him as part of strike unit of Onachu, Dibling Fernandez and Lallana. That is a unit that IMO could score enough to at least give us a chance. With a better manager stiffening up the defence we could and should be way more competitive than we are right now. Not saying it would be enough to keep us up but it should be possible to at least keep us in the mix. Given how much it is worth to the club to stay in this league I can't imagine their loyalty to RM is going to extend much further. IMO they only have a handful of games to change course now.
