  1. No attack and the defence always has at least 1 howler in them every game. Sorry to say but barring some inspired transfers this may be the season we go down. Been circling for a while now. Where is the energy?
  2. 4-1 to Spurs, sorry.
  3. It's the other games we should be concerned about, this one is a no brainer.
  4. Can't believe I'm still looking at the table wondering if we could still go down. Arsenal and Chelsea could do us a massive favour taking out Leeds but it's not good looking to get favours from other teams.
  5. Pathetic that we are even having to look over our shoulders at this stage but we should be just about OK. Got to get something out of Brentford. My head says Leeds will go down, my heart wants Everton to go down (funny as).
  6. No idea about the new guy, I just hope Ralph gets some readies. I want to see what he can do with some money behind him. So it's farewell Gao, funny old tenure really. He was completely anonymous and fairly uninspiring yet to be fair to him he got the big decision right i.e. bringing in Ralph and overall kept the club on a stable if rather uninspiring path.
  7. First game I've seen in a while and it was reasonably predictable. We should have won it but in the last 10 minutes we looked like a team that had been instructed to actively throw it away, JWP finally executing the game plan. What I saw was 2 lightweight outfits passing the ball around in pretty patterns but having little or no goal threat. Both teams looked fairly anonymous. Brighton in 9th is hilarious, you'd think they'd be half decent but they are as transparently thin as they come. The prem really has become a league of haves and have nots now.
  8. Best we can hope for is just avoiding relegation. There is no energy or hope about the club at the moment.
  9. Not the final package but then that's why he's cheap. Going to have to see what Ralph can do with him. This one is a big call.
  10. We sell our best players and replace them with less quality. It's an uphill battle and eventually it catches up with you, regardless of the manager. Simply staying in the prem is the main target for the club now.
  11. Yes I'm another one in the Moran then Clarke fanclub, I guess that was my era. He was a great signing and scored his fair share, was sad to see him go. His goal at Fratton in 87 stands out, just before the mayhem on the way home.
  12. We're currently 5th from bottom in the PREM table on the BBC site. I think they are about right...
  13. Overall England had a great tournament but for penalties. Practice hitting top left or top right and just hit it. Rashford looked like he was going to run straight, then shifted over to the left, then started running, then stopped, then stuttered and ended up hitting a static penalty on to the post. Make it simple - pick your spot and hit it. If the gk saves then fair dues to him but concentrate on your spot, not your run in.
  14. Italy are slightly better but England have the crowd = 50:50. Tense score draw then penalties. Both teams are good for 4/5 penalties and then sudden death. Southgate relives 96.
  15. Wasn't a penalty but Kane's appeal in normal time was so it all evens itself out. Glad it didn't go to penalties. Pickford vs Schmeichel? No disrespect to Pickford who I think has overall been perfectly decent (a few brain farts aside) but my money would have been on Denmark. I wonder if that's what the Danes were banking on in the last 30 minutes? Overall deserved, England were the better team and were looking to go forward. Danes were dangerous on the break but ultimately ran out of steam. However I can't quite wrap my head around England in a final, that's going to take a day or two to sink in.
  16. Fair play to England, they crushed Ukraine. Kane looking like the player we know he is, Maguire back, Shaw playing great, no real injury issues and home fixtures from here on in. It's as good a chance as England has ever had.
  17. A fairly turgid game punctuated by one piece of real quality from England and a bit of a let off just after. Glad Kane got a goal, fingers crossed that sparks him up for the rest of the games. Also Pickford was decent, made a couple of smart saves and always seems to perform decently when I see him in an England shirt. Overall still not convinced about England, must get a bit more positive but there's no denying that beating the Germans is sweet even if this is not their best line up. Oh, and play Grealish from the start please.
  18. If you have seen the Germans as long as I have you know to never ever back against them. I've seen bang average German sides still get to the final (2002 springs to mind and I think the 82\86 sides were no great shakes). They have a mental resilience that England can only dream of and you cannot ever write them off. I remember the 86 team were 2-0 down and looked dead and buried. They pulled it back before the Argies smashed a late winner. Germany plays the kind of football England would play if they had confidence, it seems to be in their psyche (and ours sadly). If England play the Portugal Germany then we'll get done, if England play the France\Hungary Germany we *might* just get past them but I wouldn't bet on it.
  19. Germans have had an odd tournament. Pretty pedestrian against the French, sparked back to life against the Portugese and then back to plodders against Hungary. They made chances last night but couldn't convert. Seems to me they lack an out and out striker, instead they have a bunch of attacking players. Still think they have too much for England though.
  20. And so on to England's last game. At least they will go down at Wembley.
  21. Same old England. Not smart enough to get past an organised team like Scotland. The draw was fair. They will get through and then be booted out the first time they meet a heavyweight. Looks like they are on course to play Portugal\Germany in the first knockout game, that's the end of their tournament.
  22. Just throw them out now and let's get on with a new competitive premier league.
  23. Take this to its logical conclusion and you eventually end up with a global league. I would not be surprised if in 30 years fans will be tuning into Sydney Sharks vs Manchester Devils or LA Galaxy vs Madrid Laticos or something like that. Why the surprise? It's all about money and has been for decades. And as for all the multi millionaire ex players on our screens who were more than happy to get very rich off the back of the gravy train now getting all indignant about it's inevitable conclusion, please spare me.
  24. Yes, I'm all for this. Been wanting the big 6 to break away for a long time and now the inevitable has happened the Premier league should become a much better competition. Let the big boys play each other in a competitive league and let the remaining prem clubs fight it out in a now competitive league. I do wonder though if the long term plan is for this new European super league to gradually add more and more clubs from across Europe and build itself up into a new pan European league with several divisions? Only time will tell.
  25. Reminded me of the performance against Chelsea in the last FAC semi final we were in. The free kick delivery on 94 minutes summed us up, last roll of the dice and Ward Prowse skies it over everyone. What a dull uninspiring team we have become, looks like we are back to the bad old days again.
