You are utterly correct of course that up to now we've relied on that, and that in the future due to further expansion we will continue to rely on that. I wasn't claiming we could continue with our expansion plans if the Liebherr's left, merely that we wouldn't go bankrupt. You are correct that we've had losses every year, but I was trying to say that these should be sorted out with the extra income we get from being in this league. Assuming of course our expenditure doesn't exceed that extra cash. Cortese's plan is for self sufficiency, and now we are in the premier league, we are in a place where that is deliverable. We'll see where we are exactly on that plan when this years finances are revealed.

How many will Lambert score this season................

Well, I know that, but Cortese wanted us to be self-sufficient in the Prem. And the extra income and no debt interest should help us to be that. Why are you arguing against this?! Ok, we are riddled with massive debts. If the Liebherr's sold us tomorrow, we'd be bankrupt by Christmas. Happy?
-
Even if our outgoings match our income as you are saying, we'd still be debt free. Therefore, under your own argument, if Liebherr's left tomorrow, we'd be fine. We are not reliant on them for our existence anymore, expansion perhaps, but not existance. Chelsea however...
-
Well, I know that... but the point is the supposed extra £60m is going to come whether or not the Liebherr's are here or not.
-
We are debt free. The money the Liebherrs have invested in the club has been converted into shares(that's as I understood it anyways). And £30m is within the extra amount of cash we are meant to get each season from being in this league.
-
I didn't even know anyone actually used that word any more. I think the fact it's surfaced probably means it is true, because it is an obscure word to call someone.
-
One based on investing **** loads of money all the time and writing off debts each year. Do you seriously think Chelsea could survive if Abramovich left tomorrow(lost over £600m since he came in and still losing nearly £70m a year)? Or Man City if Sheik Mansour left tomorrow? If the Liebherr's left tomorrow, we'd be just fine... debt free and operating within our limits.
-
I think Cortese's plan is more sustainable than a lot of other clubs. I think we are one of the few clubs with rich backers who if the rich backers decided to leave would be financially sound.
-
Against. What would be the point of having a compulsory fan on the board? Sure, if they are good enough... but otherwise it's just a token gesture and they are pretty much just a viewer.
-
I'd much rather have Cortese running the football club with a sound business mind. Fans think with their hearts and not with their minds. It's too easy for football clubs to not progress properly or be run into the ground because fans are too powerful or run the club. I'd rather have Cortese over say Mike Ashley.

I have no idea. I wasn't disagreeing with you, just trying to put forward reasons why he might not be Adkins fit! Either of you two could be right, I guess we'll find out tomorrow.
-
He has been a free agent, and you know how big Adkins is on fitness. And this is the Premier League.

Adkins makes people earn their way into the team. Gazzaniga will/should start.

Survey says we're Bompey's biggest rival....

And Bournemouth are only third on our list simply because we have to list 3 so people will probably just umm and err and be like 'well, Bournemouth I guess?'. We have one rival and that is Portsmouth. -

I guess not all teams have that natural historical rival, and so have to desperately manufacture one. I love our derby. Always a great game. Teams without a proper one are missing out. Just listening to my Reading supporting friends in the past talk about 'Aldershot Town' as if there is a serious rivalry there makes me laugh. -
Can't even remember him! I do think the Saints academy is good at bringing through players with the right attitude though. I can't think of too many troublemakers that have come through there recently, ignoring Nathan Dyer's antics.
-
Play Kelvin. Give him a chance to respond to Saturday. I think Boruc will be on the bench. It has never been Adkins style to shove a player straight into the starting line up unless absolutely necessary. Boruc will be on the bench maybe? And play Rodreguez as well in a proper centre forward position. Starting to worry he won't get a chance in a game (in his actual position).
-
They didn't mention him on Match of the Day either. Probably because they only watched highlights of the game.
-
It is, and that is why he is good now. I work with his cousin, and he pretty much said the same; that his attitude stinks and that all he wants is to play in the premier league. He also seemed to think he'd be one of our better players now he has that premier league chance.(and so far he has been one of our better players) It's not great, when you think about players like Lallana who have given their all in all the leagues playing for us, but tbh I don't really care if he continues up how he is playing now for the rest of the season. Maybe he has finally grown up. I wonder what would happen if we were relegated.
-
He always had the talent, he just had an attitude problem in the lower leagues. Now we are in the premier league, he seems to have got his head down.

Davis finished?

Fantastic performance. We dominated Villa, and tbh if it wasn't for some sloppyness by Puncheon, we could have had that clean sheet. Not that I am bashing Jason, he was excellent for the rest of the match. The new signings look fantastic. Yoshida was rock solid and cleared and passed with intention. There was much less hoof and hope from him. Gazzaniga looked solid, but didn't have to do a great deal, in part because of great performances from our two centre backs. I'm glad Fox was taken off, he was great in the Championship, but I fear not good enough for Prem. It does leave me worried on the defensive wings, we lack depth in our squad. But that can't be rectified until January. Clyne looked as good as he has this season and is fantastic going forward and had a well deserved goal. Ramirez just looked a class above. He seemed to create time and space while on the ball and had great touches. I think there is much much more to come from him. Lambert is just proving all the doubters(including I guiltily admit myself) wrong. He is sturdy and knows where the goal is and that is what we need. He is a Striker that requires good service though, and I think Ramirez, Lallana and Puncheon and co are all good enough to provide it. Lallana works his socks off, great skill and gets forward as we know. Mayuka looks promising too. I am just too happy right now. For the first time today, we looked Premier League class. Not plucky underdogs or the whipping boys, but solid Premier League standard.
-
Tbh, he didn't have a great deal to do that would be difficult for a Premier League standard goalkeeper. But he looked solid, and when called upon gathered the ball well. Had one decent save to do and did that well. Didn't seem nervous at all and the goal was not his fault. Adkins used to be a goalkeeper himself, so we have to trust him on this. He certainly earns another go though.
