Quick survey for anyone here in the Eastleigh constituency who were planning on voting Lib Dem: Do the revelations of the past few days make you less likely to vote Lib Dems or do they make no difference at all?
-
Yes, the coalition majority stays the same, but it could alter the balance of power. A Lib Dem win might stop the Tories being quite so cocky in the next few years as they wouldn't be able to believe they have a majority just round the corner. A Lib Dem win would rally their MPs to be more assertive and so on. But the most crucial element is for the leaders. Nick Clegg - The whole lib dem strategy for 2015 is built around retention(even if vote collapses else where), and so far the local elections are holding up well, especially in places like Eastleigh. Many are privately hoping for 30 odd seats, but if Eastleigh is lost the Lib Dems will become seriously worried about total wipeout in 2015 under Clegg. David Cameron - The tories have put up with his wishy washy conservatism for a while now, on the grounds it would win them elections. And he failed to do that. He did not win the 2010 election, and so far he continually shows himself to not be a winner. To win in 2015, the Tories must win places like Eastleigh and if they don't the back benches will become nervous about sticking with Cameron if he isn't a winner.

Because that is exactly what has been said. We were up against Newcastle at one point and it was a winnable game, therefore it was not an unreasonable prediction to make given that had the score stayed the same, we'd be 3 from 10th and 6 from relegation. But we didn't.
-
In fairness, if we had won, we'd be very close indeed.
-
Yes, though the coalition aren't a party. And depending on which one wins will have massive consequences for both parties, and in particular for the respective leaders.
-
It's not really a target seat, and they aren't going to win. If you are a conspiracy theorist, maybe they want the Lib Dems to win to destabilise David Cameron.

And a more uni wide one from yesterday!

Unfortunately not my College at Oxford, but I wish it was as this one is pretty cool!

Seager and Gape sign long-term pro deals

Cheers. -
I wasn't really trying to say anyone was necessarily asking for a 'free ride'. I was trying to imply that the people which the OP stated are currently working for the club. And that is fine, probably a good idea, as they obviously worked for the club in the past so maybe have an idea of structures and maybe a sense of drive and loyalty in relation to the club.
-
I think the difference is the 'free ride' aspect... All the people you mention are still contributing to the club in some work based way.

Anyone know about these players to give a brief description of where they play/playing style? I'm clueless. -
Got told about that front page by someone today. I didn't realise quite how bad it actually was, although I suppose we should expect little else from the Sun.

No actual idea of Cortese's plans of course so all baseless speculation... but I suspect the next part of the plan is to establish ourselves as a regular european cup team, which is probably not entirely unreasonable if it is Europa League we are thinking of. Cortese also said that his '5 year plan' etc is more than just a league position etc. It's infrastructure and so on as well. So maybe a bigger stadium? I guess the training ground revamp is part of it, and probably something to do with the academy as well.

Arthroscopy's are generally very quick I think. My dad had one a couple of years back and was mobile as normal within a couple of weeks or so. Though I think sport and stuff was a bit longer than that.

UKIP candidate says Romanians are associated with crime....

I expect nothing less from UKIP. They are as narrow minded, simplistic and unpragmatic as ever. -
I still do wonder where the money came from. Though I guess it has worked out well in the end. Would be interesting to see a thread on here from when we signed him.

Norwich 4-3 is still the outstanding match I have been to. It had everything in terms of end to end and that final goal from Camera was the perfect end. And the atmosphere was electric. I really thought at the time that would keep us up too.

Been with us all the way, which is quite nice. Great vision whoever spotted him. Forked out what was relatively a lot of money at the time.

i reckon a few million each. Definitely not over 5 though. -
But closer to 18th. I honestly don't care about top half or whatever this season, it'd be good, but it's a bonus. I'm more concerned with staying up, something that we still haven't sealed the deal on.
