From the article in the link... Translation...

In other words, they intend to gag him somehow. Can't see the Ferrari team allowing Kimi to testify somehow, although my faith in the sport will be restored if he does. Just goes to show that there is still a small modicum of sportsmanship left in F1.
-
Yeah but then they ruined it by making 4,5,6,7,8,9 and 10 (I think!)
-
Now that doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Ferrari are the F1 equivalent of John Macenroe when it comes to complaining about official decisions. They are the most unsporting ****ers F1 has ever seen and I wouldn't be at all surprised to find out they were behind this decision. What's even less surprising is that the FIA obliged them. Is there some law in the F1 rulebook that the FIA must uphold any complaint if it is made from an italian team with a red car?

When you consider how sh1te Terminator 3 was compared to the first two, I beg to differ.

WTF!?!? The article says that she is still paying £60 a week in storage costs for all his stuff. What exactly has he sued her for then? What has she done wrong?

You've only just noticed this???

Utter, utter b0ll0cks. The FIA are a fvcking joke. Do they really take every F1 fan for that stupid - it's such an obvious fix. I ask you, how can Hamilton have possibly gained an advantage from the extra momentum when he slowed down enough to come round the back of Raikonnen's car and overtake him on the opposite side? I'm not even Hamilton's biggest fan, but I have total sympathy for him in this situation and I want to see him win the title just to say a big "fvck you" to the FIA.
-
Anybody could see that Hamilton slowed down to allow Kimi to retake the lead, hence he couldn't possibly carry any additional momentum down the pit straight. He then came round the back of Kimi's car and overtook him on the opposite side. If the FIA rule this one in Ferrari's favour and give the race to Massa, I swear I will never watch F1 ever again. This bias towards Ferrari is cringeworthy.

Oh great. Yet another case of "Let's wring every last dollar out of a franchise as possible" Why is nothing sacred any more? Why can't they just leave things alone? I suppose the producers don't even care if it turns out to be **** because there is a whole new generation of kids to sell merchandise to so they will still make a few million out of it. But then this is Hollywood we are talking about, so a little bit of artistic integrity is too much to ask for. Shame.

No such thing as a 'best film of all time' - it's totally subjective. While I agree that Shawshank is an excellent film, and I appreciate why it has global appeal, I couldn't go so far as to say it's the best ever. I couldn't even say it is my personal favourite; no film can claim that title as there are so many films that I like for completely different reasons that I couldn't possibly place one above the other. It would have to be a 'top ten in no particular order'.

With all due respect to Stephen Hawking - how the fvck does he know what will happen when they switch this thing on. Has he ever created black holes before? I think not. Seems to me there are too many unknown unknowns in this situation. It's all very well trying to understand how the world was created, but it will all be pointless if they end up destroying it in the process.

Went to see Somers Town with my GF last night. Shane Meadows' latest film. Quite enjoyable actually, very light-hearted story about a young lad (Tomo Turgoose) on the run and living rough in London who strikes up an unlikely friendship with a Polish lad who has come to England with his dad. It works in a kind of 'odd couple' way though there isn't much of a story to it. I'm glad I gave it a chance really. I didn't enjoy This is England, but I did like Dead Man's Shoes so I find Meadows a bit hit and miss. This one is erring on the side of 'hit' - 3.5/5

link here Cracking news. I always wondered if they would ever get round to continuing the "to be continued" at the end of the last series.

Addlestones is a rather lovely cider. And I had one down in Cornwall recently called Rattler which was fantastic but I don't know if it's available anywhere else. I haven't seen it available in Sheffield anyway. And I have to agree with Scott - Anybody who thinks Strongbow is the best cider available really needs to switch off the TV and get out and try some others. Strongbow is the cider equivalent of Carling or Fosters... Weak, tasteless, mass-marketed p1sswater!

Right, I started this thread on the old forum and I'm resurrecting it now cos I went to see Gomez live at Plug in Sheffield lastnight. Was kind of a home-coming gig for them cos they are touring their 10th anniversary of Bring it On and they first got together at Sheffield University (got a fantastic reaction when they did the line 'Rolling into Sheffield tonight' in Whippin' Piccadilly!). Superb live act. They've got a great on-stage chemistry and it was obvious they were enjoying themselves, which came across in their performance. Ben Ottewell's voice is just as good live as on their studio recordings as well. I only ever had their first two albums and I lost them both some years ago, so it was great to go and see them live and remind myself just how much I like them. I must get hold of those albums again. Fantastic gig and one of the best I've seen in a long time. 9/10

Thanks for all the comments people. Much appreciated. I had the meeting with the MD this morning and he has told me that I will be required to work until the end of play tomorrow and then I will be paid until the end of september during which time I will not be required to come in to work. We discussed the situation reasonably, and I accept that there is nothing I can do to save my job. I think there are certain anomalies in the procedure that they have followed, but the MD is a very reasonable man and was very honest and open with me about the situation, so I gave him my word I will not pursue any legal action regarding this. It's just not worth it - I will still be out of a job and it will only cause me a lot more stress and I am already under enough as it is. He could have forced me to work my notice, or he could have demanded that I return my company car immediately. If I had continued with my threat of legal action he could easily have become unreasonable and I don't want to leave on bad terms with everybody. Thanks for all your help. Anybody got any jobs going?
-
So if I sign this acceptance, will that prevent me from being able to make a complaint to a tribunal?
-
Thanks Jill and Exit2. Some useful information there. I'm going in for my meeting with the MD in about 20 mins and I'm not sure how to handle this. I can either make it clear to him that I'm not satisfied that the correct procedure has been followed and demand that an independent review be carried out before I agree to anything, or I can just accept it (I know there is no chance of saving my job either way) and then make a complaint to an employment tribunal afterwards. What would you guys do?

I hope someone on here can help me, I know there are a few experts on employment law on here. I've had a look on the ACAS website but it's unclear. I have been told I am being made redundant at work and I am due to have a meeting with my MD tomorrow when I will be formally notified of redundancy. But I'm not convinced the correct procedure has been followed. I am one of two people in the department who both have identical job titles, and I have been told that the company has completed a skills matrix and based on the fact that I earn significantly more than the other guy who is a lot younger and less experienced than I am, that I have been selected for redundancy. There has been an informal (ie - not notified in writing at all) consultation period of about a week, the result of this is that the company has not been able to come up with any ways of remedying the situation and they intend to press ahead with the proposed redundancy (me). Now, I was in a similar situation once before and my question is this... Should the company have also notified the other guy in the department that one of us was to be made redundant and then invited us both to apply for the one remaining position? Also, should I have received written notice of the consultation period and the proposed selection process? Any advice gratefully received.

There's a Revolution in Southampton now? There's one here in Sheffield and it's utter ****. Full of pretentious asses and chavvy bints who think that going there somehow makes them more classy.
-
Yes indeed sour grapes. You're a cvnt of the highest order. It's thanks to people like you that ordinary music fans have to pay stupidly over-the-odds prices to see their favourite bands. I went to see Portishead in Manchester back in april but I ended up having to pay double because the official ticket outlets had all sold out but lo and behold, within a few hours they are being advertised on Seatwave for twice their face value.

Heard it the other day and the only word I can think of to describe it is bland. I was never a massive fan of Oasis anyway, but it seems to me that they are waaaaay past their best.
