  1. I must admit I thought Lewis Hamilton was certain to win it. Not saying Chris Hoy doesn't deserve it but I just assumed that Lewis would get more votes due to his higher media profile.
  2. I take your point Ponty, especially as you or the people you work with would be directly affected by this, but if the cost-cutting stops big players like Honda from withdrawing from the series completely then surely that is an overall positive?
  3. I recently aquired the Bill Bailey Collection (Cosmic Jam, Bewilderness and Part Troll in one box-set) and no mater how many times I watch it I still find it hilarious. well recommended.
  4. Cosimo Sarli? He scored 40-odd goals for the reserves in a single season about 10 years ago but never actually played for the first team.
  5. Which would be somewhat ironic seeing as Dave Richards was in charge of the BAR team that was taken over by Honda. Would be good to see though. He is a man with racing in his blood and has a lot of F1 experience.
  6. As far as I know, all the indications were that Honda's development for next year's car was going very well because they basically gave up on this season's car and put all their effort into R&D for next season. Their KERS system is apparently very good. So the infrastructure is there for someone to buy a ready-made team that would be capable of competing pretty well with the rest of the field. Not sure what Button will do though if they don't find a buyer. Does anyone know if all the other teams confirmed have their driver lineups for next year yet? Ponty?????
  7. I agree wholeheartedly with everything you say 1976 Child. This country has become a godawful depressing sh1thole to live in and it doesn't look like anything is going to change that anytime soon. I was watching the Amazon series with Bruce Parry recently where he stayed with the indigenous tribes along the river who have virtually no contact with the outside world and I remember thinking to myself that living like that would be so much simpler. I know they have different kinds of stresses and concerns, but they all seemed so happy, and don't have to worry about pointless sh1t like the credit-crunch, recession, negative equity etc... As it stands I am still out of work since I was made redundant at the end of september. I've got enough money to survive for a few months but then, if noting comes up in my industry soon, I am right-royally screwed. I live alone and have a mortgage (which is now in negative equity but that's the least of my worries!) and I need to be earning over a certain amount in order to make ends meet. The job centre staff are possibly the most condescending and unhelpful bunch of w@nkers I have ever come across. Every time I visit they try and get me to apply to do some crap minimum-wage job, but it's just not an option because the second I go back to work, my JSA and payment protection insurance payouts on my mortgage dry up and I would be a lot worse off.
  8. At least Legard is fairly knowledgable about F1 and isn't an irritating c*nt like James Allen was on ITV. Good that they've got Lee Mckenzie as well - she's much hotter than Louise Goodman ever was...
  9. http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/startrek/ Hmmmm. Not sure. The trailers look quite good, but I'm not convinced that going back to the beginning and starting again is the right way to re-invigorate the franchise. It worked OK for James Bond, but does this mean we will have a whole new series of films based on the original series but with a new cast playing the iconic roles?
  10. The inconsistency of this side never ceases to amaze me. Everyone (me included) expected us to get completely dicked today and they proved everyone wrong. Not complaining. That puts us up to 19th and provided Norwich don't win away at Forest later on, we'll stay there.
  11. I'm in total agreement with you on all of this Rob. In all my adult life I have never actually voted in a general election for the principle reason that I have never come across a party that I actually want to vote for, and I refuse to vote for the lesser of the evils just for the sake of voting for somebody. British politics (I guess it's the same the world over though) really is just about trying to make your opponent look bad. Labour and the Tories have been scoring points off each other like this since the dawn of time and it is so tiresome. I long for the day that a politician will come forward who I will look to and respect, someone with the strength of will to gain power not just for the sake of it, or for the associated kudos, but because they actually want to make a contribution to the world and give something back. Labour's entire election campaign in 1997 was basically saying "Look how sleazy the Conservatives are, we promise we won't be anywhere near as bad as that", but they have proven themselves to be just as sleazy and corrupt, if not more so. In my lifetime (I'm 33) there has only ever been one british politician who I had any respect for, but sadly she is dead now - Mo Mowlam. To me she was a shining beacon of light in an otherwise dark and shady world of politics, because she genuinely cared about making a difference. This country, and indeed the world in general, would be a far better place if politicians could show even half the strength of character that she demonstrated during her relatively short career.
  12. I just did a google search on 'Ugly F1 cars' and it came up with this... Can anyone identify it? Whatever it is, it's one hideous looking car!
  13. Possibly one of the sh1ttest films I have ever seen.
  14. When, oh when, oh when, oh when will people learn to stop posting about takeover announcements happening on certain dates? Surely to god even Corp Ho would have learned that lesson after the events (or non-events as it transpired) of last 18 months on this forum. Obviously not. You gotta laugh
  15. Just watched The Mist. I have always found that films based on Stephen King novels are very hit and miss - they're either really good or really terrible. Sadly this one is the latter. The plot is non-existant and the acting is just terrible. The ending, while fairly original, is very abrupt, and you come away from the film none the wiser for what was supposed to have happened. Avoid it.
  16. 44. He turned me into a newt! I got better.
  17. Went to see W. at the cinema lastnight. Wasn't quite what I was expecting - the trailers made it look like it was a satire - but it's enjoyable nonetheless. The only problem is that you just don't know how much of it is factual and how much of it is made up by Oliver Stone. If I knew it was all true then it would be a fascinating insight into the workings of the GWB administration, but there's just no way of ever knowing. Worth seeing though. Josh Brolin is absolutely brilliant as Dubya and Thandie Newton's portrayal of Condoleeza Rice is superb.
  18. I've been with Sky for about 18 months. The connection randomly drops for no apparent reason, and gets very slow at times. However my biggest gripe with them is that their customer service centre may as well be staffed by baboons for all the help they are. I got an offer from Orange for free broadband as I am a mobile customer of theirs. I have heard their service is pretty bad but they can't possibly be worse than Sky so because it's free I'm going to swap over. You would not believe the amount of trouble I had trying to get through to somebody at Sky just to get my MAC code. The anoying thing is that in the endless options on their IVR system there is an option for cancellations, but I still had to speak to about 6 different departments before I spoke to somebody with a 3-digit IQ who knew what I was talking about.
  19. Saw the first trailer for it the other day. Looks like they have captured the book quite well so will be interesting to see it.
  20. GU013 - Sasha, Ibiza. Truly epic from start to finish. Journeys by DJs - Paul Oakenfold (about 1993/94 I think) The first ever Cream Live CD from around 1995/96 was pretty damn good as well... even though it wasn't actually recorded live.
  21. I can't stop watching this and smiling. Does that make me a bad person? I'm glad Lewis won the title just to stick it to the FIA who tried their hardest to make sure he didn't, and to shut the spanish racists up as well. I can't help but feel a little bit sorry for Massa though. Judging by the celebrations in the Ferrari pit, they must have told him over the radio that he had nailed it without realising that Lewis had passed Glock. He's a very affable guy and was exremely dignified on the podium and in the press conference.
  22. I think that the complaints commission should only take it seriously if both Sachs and his granddaughter make a complaint. Other than that, I can't understand why the public feel the need to be offended on their behalf, and quite how much publicity the whole thing is getting. The only problem I have got with it is that it was supposed to be entertainment but is probably one of the least funny things I have ever heard. Ross used to be quite funny (on the radio anyway) but for the life of me I cannot understand how Russell Bland got a job on Radio 2 when his 'humour' (I use the term loosely) would be far more suited to CBeebies. It would be more like his intellectual level.
  23. That's a great read and I'm sure you won't be disappointed. It almost reads like fiction due to the lengths they had to go to just to get the Vulcans and Victors operational, let alone the planning for that one mission. Truly one of the British Forces' greatest ever achievements.
  24. Surely if you mixed them together and posted the entire MP3 file in fairly low quality on something like Zshare or Yousendit for live streaming, then there wouldn't be any legal issues with that would there?
  25. Signed. Hope it's successful.
