  1. Yeah that's kind of the point I am making. Most opposition to nuclear power comes from ill-informed people who are only able to look at the example of what happened at Chernobyl and decide that nuclear power must therefore be extremely dangerous and must be stopped at all costs.
  2. I've never understood this. Why would being a lefty preclude you from being in favour of nuclear power?
  3. Unfortunately, the general uninformed masses will never accept nuclear power as a long-term solution because of the fear and paranoia surrounding it. The modern nuclear fission plants in places like France are clean, efficient, safe and generate only a very tiny amount of radioactive waste (although I concede that they are very expensive not only to build, but to decomission at the end of their useful lives as well). But the very mention of the word 'nuclear' instantly brings to mind horrific images of Horishima and Chernobyl, and that's why it is such a hard job to sell the idea of it to the public.
  4. Of course, he meant to do that ;-)
  5. The docks themselves don't exactly provide the most picturesque views for local residents, so I can't see how anybody can complain about it on those grounds. I am essentially in favour of any project that proposes a low-carbon, renewable alternative to coal and oil-fired power stations, and I am certain that the plant will alos creat lots of jobs for the Southampton area, so I really don't see how anybody can be against the idea.
  6. Don't hold your breath. Over the last couple of weeks Sheff weds have lost at home to both Plymouth and Notts County. They haven't made any progress at all under Megson and could well find themselves in a relegation scrap if they don't get a couple of wins sharpish. Anything less than a win when we play them at SMS next week will be a massive disappointment.
  7. No database errors for me but took ages to update apart from a short period at the beginning of the 2nd half, and a couple of occasions where 'connection could not be made'. Really really poor. I hate to say but it's just no better than it ever was before you started charging for the service, which begs the question: what exactly am I paying for?
  8. 3 wins in a row. Still games in hand on Posh and Huddersfield above us. Second place still in our own hands. And we managed to silence those Bournemouth fans to boot. Happy days. Now, to sort the forum out. It was shocking today.
  9. Message to the site admins... I appreciate that this game in particular was always going to attract a large amount of attention from forum users, but this is utterly taking the p155 now. Either sort the f***ing forum access out or give me my £5 back.
  10. I'm not disagreeing with your summary of the match because I wasn't there to see it myself, but I'm not quite sure how you come to that conclusion, considering we have closed the gap on 2nd place from 6 to 3 points over the last week.
  11. Just the highlights. But they show we created some very good chances. Even the BBC commentator summed up by saying it was a really one-sided game in our favour and ended up a freak result.
  12. Did you go to the game on tuesday? I just watched the highlights on BBC and I have to say that some of the chances we created were top notch. On another night we would have scored 3 or 4, it was just one of those games that all teams have where the ball just wouldn't go in the bloody net. Walsall had one good opportunity thanks to a freakish deflection off Jaidi's head and scored thanks to some very poor positioning by Kelvin (again!). I really don't know why people are so down about that game. It's annoying that we dropped points but this idea that we were just dreadful and didn't look like scoring seems way off the mark to me.
  13. Posh 2 Exeter 0 :-(
  14. To be fair, they are playing an absolutely hopeless Sheff Utd team today who in their last 12 games have drawn four and lost eight. I would totally expect them to win today.
  15. It's because he can't say "I told you so" when we are winning.
  16. What the buggery b0llocks is Jim Brennan doing on the side of a Nutella jar!?!?
  17. No, you're absolutely right Alps. The players have decided that they can't be arsed to try and get automatic promotion and they are more than happy to see out the season by maybe making the playoffs. It's so obvious.
  18. So much for the new server setup. Come on guys, this is ******* ridiculous.
  19. Although I am not a Conservative supporter, I have to say he has impressed me so far in the way that he carries himself in public and represents Britain on the world stage. The previous incumbent was an utter clown and a national embarrassment so DC has been a breath of fresh air in that he speaks coherently and intelligently.
  20. [video=youtube;S7GGkKpBR-g] An oldie but I expect there are still a few people who haven't seen it.
  21. I have, thankfully, recently got back into the industry I was working in before the crash/recession which led to me being laid off over two years ago. During that time I have really struggled to find a decent permanent job and for the last year I was working in a call centre environment for a ISP which was starting to drive me insane because it was so tedious and repetitive. This new job couldn't have come at a better time (well, actually, it could have come two years ago which would have helped) and due to the business model being all about targeting small/medium sized businesses and actually saving them money on their voice/data system bills, the company is actually doing really well out of the recession so the job should be very secure. You do have my sympathy though SNSUN. I know exactly how it feels to wake up every morning and think "F**king hell, have I got to go back to that f**king place again!?" and it's really not funny because it has a drastic negative effect on not just your attitude to work, but all other aspects of your life as well. I hope you manage to escape the cycle soon.
  22. Sorry Baj, I see now that you have already addressed that point in your reply to Saint_Jonny. That'll teach me to read all of the posts on a thread before responding to one.
  23. But the problem with that is that we would still be restricted by the speed of light. If we could invent a telescope powerful enough to look at the surface of a planet 200 light years away then we would be literally looking 200 years into the past.
  24. An interesting question indeed. Leeds and Norwich are right up there, and even Millwall who went up via the playoffs are holding their own in the top half of the table as well. Does that indicate that the overall quality of the football in the NPC is quite poor? Perhaps. I have seen one or two comments on here recently along the lines that our style of passing football is much more suited to the Championship and that we would probably win more games because there would be less 'hoof' teams who we seem to struggle against in L1. These people obviously have very short memories because this is exactly what most people were saying about the PL when we were in the Championship, and our passing football under Burley, pretty though it was at times, wasn't enough to get us back to the prem because we couldn't seem to break down the more defensive teams.
