Are we finally in a position to keep our youngsters?
Dibden Purlieu Saint replied to washsaint's topic in The Saints
Maybr it's a Southampton thing cos Lowe was very good at it as well. -
Which 3 players would you have bought, and which 3 would you have not bought. Have to be realistic transfers. For me it has to be: Sebastien Bassong Arouna Kone Michu In Jay Rodriguez Yoshida Mayuka Out

If it weren't for the other half wanting to stay near family I'd have moved back a long time ago. Canada > UK -

One of the differences is I thought we were to build our side from the Academy...if that's the case we have to keep hold of these type of players going forward. But to answer your question, we are in a better position, but if a big team wants our players, the no. -

The funniest thing about this thread is that at the time they were a better team. Yet I am being criticised because they're not now. -
I'm friends with him on Facebook!
-
That's not true. It was because people disagreed with my ascertion that Adkins had learned from the mistakes that I had identified, and they then threw their toys out the pram and spent the whole evening going back through my back catalogue. I stand by what was ttsaid in my threads, especially those where I ask a question and people decide that is an opinion.

I don't think people want to hear about you wanting to whack me off...
-
I'll mug you in the face if you're not careful.
-
Huh, fair enough, don't want to encroach on your demain.
-
I don't think I've dropped it have I? I'm not posting any differently to how I was...as far as I know. Maybe that's what happens when you become a Dad?
-
Perhaps you don't get my sense of humour? There are a number of questions I have posed that people have seen as opinion ie. Gaston's wage causing friction etc. So yes, there have been. I have also written above that it may be my writing style that is confusing people, so perhaps I need to change this.

Well that's natural, everyone is scared of him.
-
It was a joke. You're not on ignore either. Bloody hell, you're scared of the mods aren't you..?
-
No I didn't. Ask the mods. I am happy to admit if I did, but on this occassion I haven't. Like that time you reported me, then sent me loads of abusive PM's, then I reported you. But I didn't report you this time as I can't see you've really done much wrong apart from follow me around and call me Helen which no-one understands anyway...

Yes, in isolation of course this thread is an over-reaction. However, this was the straw that broke the camels back for me. I had seen week on week of strange decisions (imo) by Adkins, and this was the one where I thought "he's just not learning from his mistakes'. They defended solidly because they didn't have any threat from JRod. If Lambert was playing I believe it would have been different but of course there is no way to prove this. However, we have more chance of scoring with our best player on the field, and the player who's game we base ourselves around.

Good, I'm glad about that. It's obviously my writing style that people aren't understanding as you seem to misunderstand nearly everything I write.

What's the biggest factor in our recent turn around?

I also think the 'knee jerk' reactions need to be properly read and read in context. You have a lot of people on here that will misconstrue your opinions and will go out of their way to exagerrate them. A number of my supposed 'opinions' have come in the form of questions, or musings, and not opinions (if you read the thread below). However, if you get 3 or 4 people shouting that someone said 1 thing, over and over, you don't have the time or (eventually) inclination to try to defend yourself. I was happy to admit that I have been wrong on occassion, and on a few of the threads below. However, there is also a lot of truth and a lot of correct ascertions in those threads which obviously get overlooked. It's the way these things work unfortunately. -
Only the army would dare...

It's not stated as fact, it's an opinion. And to be fair the rudeness is usually in response to the abuse given by those that disagree and can't discuss it.
-
You are joking aren't you? You do realise that's not a serious thread? I mentioned the police FFS.

I think to a certain degree, and certainly in my opinion, the errors were due to the quality of players. Better players tend to make less mistakes, and a certain amount of blame has got be placed with Adkins for not strengthening CB, or not making it expressly clear to the transfer committee during the Summer. Of course, maybe he did, and maybe that is why he has got a stay of execution as the transfer committee did not equip him well enough. People have not been too worried about the quality of performances, because in general we have looked good going forward. The bad performances though against Wigan, which was woeful, Arsenal, first half v Villa, West Ham (although performance wasn't THAT bad but team selection was wrong) and West Brom were worrying, and we did look out of our depth all over the field. I will be more than happy to be wrong, because that means that Adkins will keep his job and we will all but likely stay up. However, this is only 2 wins and we need to build on this further. -
I forgot about that! Used as another stick to beat Lowe with I seem to remember. Him and Prost really did pull this one out of the bag, got to say!

I'm going for 3-0, if Ruddy and Turner are out. Bunn is a good stand in though. If both are fit then 1-1, mainly because we'll take the lead but don't trust us to hold on at the death.
