You were obviously watching a different game tp me. Redmond was pants! Every short pass was under-hit and all bar one long pass was over-hit. He got himself in some decent positions but his insistence to always try and get back on to his right foot, makes him so predictable and easy to defend against. Tadic was slightly better than he has been but that's not saying much. Unfortunately he's not a shadow of the player he was a couple of seasons ago. I think the crowd reaction when his number was shown, says more agree with me than you! Davis (who by the way was our best player by a mile) was exposed time and time again by the lack of support in midfield, which JWP would have given. Plus, when we can't score for toffee from open play, what's wrong with putting your best deadball player in the team?

Burnley are pretty limited but the team is better than the sum of its parts. Man for man you probably wouldn't swap many of their side for ours but we are not anywhere near the sum of our parts. That has got to come down to the management and coaching staff (again).

What absolute tosh!! If he had have been playing yesterday, instead of the dreadful Tadic or equally awful Redmond, we might have actually had some balance in midfield, instead of Davis having to do everything on his own!

Trouble is with that team we have absolutely no pace going forward. Without either Long or Redmond playing we have no chance of getting behind their back 4 IMO.

This is where I have a problem with McCarthy. Forster really needs taking out of the firing line at the moment but I don't see any of our other goalkeepers as a better option!

He genuinely cares about the club and his performances (individually and collectively). Has always been decent defensively, when playing CH but still see him as part of the problem with our slow tempo, when playing out from the back. Gets into space, then checks and plays backwards or sideways.

My personal hatred of Fat Sam stems from an autograph collection session. Saints v Bolton at the Dell late 70's, we had missed Peter Reid, who had recently been selected for England U21s (might have been 23s then). Peter Thompson, the ex Liverpool player invited us onto the team coach to get Reidy's autograph. Of course he was sat towards the back and before we got to him, Fat Sam had eyeball us and shouted in that loud familiar gruff voice, "You lot get off the fnck!ng bus!!" I've never forgotten nor forgiven him for that.

Using that analogy we are not a traditional top flight club (only 40 years). Most of all of our life times, we have been a top flight club and have had the current crest. That's tradition enough for me!!

Both have their qualities but getting their head on the end of crosses is not one of them for either player. Hoedt is a young player, who like Stephens is still learning his trade, hence the determination to keep old of VvD but he is much better in the air than either of them.
