  1. A good performance but there was still some poor defending. Doncaster kept using the diagonal long ball that caused LLoyd James problems all game. Cork and Schniederlin bossed midfield and our pattern of play was definately disrupted when Morgan had to go off injured. I thought Olly Lancasire and Fish Mills had excellent games seeing both were only playing their second full appearances. Also Surman looked a completely different player, playing in his proper position (pity about the penalty miss).
  2. I had a feeling of 2-0 Doncaster with both Mills brothers getting the goals.
  3. The lowest I've felt being a Saints fan was walking out of The Memorial Ground after last season's FA Cup tie.
  4. I can't belive the amount of people on here that are prepared to accept abject performances and defeat. No wonder the players don't give a sh!t.
  5. If we had been winning regularly in the league, this defeat could be brushed off as a one off. Unforetunately, we do not look like beating any opposition at any level. True, Rotherham had beaten Championship opposition but only on penalties against weakened teams. They stuffed us in 90 mins and we fielded our strongest possible XI (with the exception of Bart for Davis). Rotherham are a team that has only just come out of administration and they weren't at home. They haven't got a home, so they have to play at a soulless athletics stadium 10 miles away in another city. Therefore, to dress this up as anything but a disaster is completely wrong. We are in the sh!t.
  6. A = vital! I don't hold up much hope though.
  7. Makes you wonder whether we can compete at THAT level.
  8. I remember old Saggy Chops playing the youngsters in the League Cup against Mansfield? and then saying they are not all they're cracked up to be after they got beat. I think we are all now learning that he was correct in his assessment.
  9. I think all of the above has an affect on a good number of our supporters. Living away, I can no longer justify coming down for all home games (ticket prices/petrol prices etc.) But I think the main reason is battle weariness of the last 4/5 years. Crap upper management (Lowe; Wilde; Crouch and McMenemy; Hone and Hoos; Lowe and Wilde), crap team management (Wigley; Sturrock; Redknapp; Wise and Bassett; Burley; Dodd and Gorman), crap players (too many to list) and crap football.
  10. It is, but there is a couple of hotels in the area with bars (Premier Inn type things). The beer inside the ground is pretty decent though.
  11. Got mine (+1) on Saturday before the game. regretting it somewhat after. Still, new ground for Saints (although I have been before for non-footballing occasion).
  12. I think it's more a case of being very difficult to actually pick one from that performance. The best player on the field was Big Dave in the heart of the Barnsley defence but TBF he probably won't have an easier game all season. At a push I'd say our best player was Cork.
  13. I want Saints to win every game they play but am more realistic than that. To go to a game, be entertained and know that every player in the team has put in the effort to get the best possible result (regardless of what that may be), is good enough for me these days. I just want to believe that we have now bottomed-out and will see some improvement in performances, results and finances and are onwards and upwards!
  14. Not many post war England players born in Southampton. Martin Chivers Darren Anderton Graham Roberts Wayne Bridge Can't think of any more!
  15. Agreed 100%.
  16. John's goals kept us up but AD was our best player by a country mile.
  17. Lowe had a business plan which was agreed with the banks. That could not have been to sell every senior player, accelerating a downward spiral, ending in certain relegation and then administration.
  18. I am definately dissapointed you feel that way!
  19. Same animal, just different words to sum him up. Lowe Mk 1, in the premiership with money - no real investment in the team - MISERLY Lowe Mk 2, in the CCC with no money - no real investment in the team - PRUDENT
  20. With a day & half left, plus a decent walk up, could be close to 26,000 then.
  21. I thought the rules were that anyone could start one but you have sole rights on 'bumping' them, when they go quiet.
  22. They did! They won the Avon Reserve League.
  23. I take your point but he was playing along side Channon, Keegan, Jordan and Worthington at various parts of his career.
  24. He is eligible because he is a registered player, contracts have nothing to do with it.
  25. OMG DM's equalised!!
