We're all going on a European tour!
-
I think I read (although I may have dreamt it) that JP was looking at Skacel, Surman and Mills as an interchangeable triangle. One goes left, one tucks in and the other drops back, depending on whether we are attacking or defending or where each of the players are positioned at the breakdown (whether we win the ball or lose it).

FT 0-1. Just come up on SSN.

Ah! But now were have a 'play more experienced players and bugger the concequences of appearance bonus' policy. I think HCDAJFU.
-
Happy with the point, delighted with the clean-sheet and that Rudi played the full game. Let's hope we can follow it up on Saturday but this time pinch a goal or two at the other end.
-
Who's taking the second one after he misses?
-
Email scooby@flickerhouse.com and ask him!
-
I fail to see how he can ever get match fit if he is never picked for either the Reserves or the First Team.

No No No! Don't get me wrong. I'm no Burley fan. I was delighted that Scotland took Burley off our hands because IMO he had lost the plot. Saying that, the single most disastrous decision, which nearly got us relegated was the appointment of Dodd and Gorman. If we had appointed a manager (for the sake of argument Pearson) then. There may have been time to turn around the season and push towards the play-offs.
-
7 points actually but I agree about changing the squad. I just wish he hadn't spent £7M on no better than we had and had kept Higgy.
-
I wouldn't, I'd be getting a big fook off centre half like "Big Dave" Darren Moore and a decent right back.
-
Yes but in his first half season he turned them round from relegation certs, when he took over from Parkinson, to saving them with a game or so to spare. His style is much more Pearson than Poortvliet and I know who I'd much rather have in charge.

http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/articles/article.php?mode=movenav&page_id=10767 Jan Poortvliet had already raided the French club (RC Strasbourg) for Morgan Schneiderlin and commented at the time about Gasmi's versatility and hard working attitude. "He's a quality player and can play in several positions...on the wing or in the hole." Another versatile player that can play in various positions, EXCEPT the two positions we really need strengthening, Goal Scoring Centre Forward or Defender to play ANY position along the back four, who can mark at corners, win headers in the box and can antisipate and win the 2nd ball.
-
I think that the point being made here is, Delap and Higginbotham are two of a number of players perceived as not being good enough for us, who are currently playing Prem football, whilst we are languishing towards the bottom of the Championship.

who thinks it's gonna be another last day relegation fight?

I was hoping for the same but unforetunately cannot see it. We have some very skillful players who knock the ball around nicely and it's all very pleasing on the eye. BUT the two most important skills in football are: 1) Being able to put the ball in the back of the net when you are attacking and: 2) Being able to keep it out when you defend. Unforetunately we can do neither. To miss 2 penalties is pretty p!ss poor but to concede 3 goals against a team that didn't create a single chance from open play in the first half, is unforgiveable! -
The reason we didn't go up in 2 seasons ago was we conceded too many goals. We easily scored enough to be promoted automatically. If we had kept Higginbotham IMO we wouldn't have conceded anywhere near as many and would have gone up.

Are we being taken over then? -
I heard that they are leaving the pages blank because they don't know who will still be here after January.
-
A decent experienced manager, with a owner/chairman with a few bob allowing him to strengthen the squad. Oh yes and the loaning of Fraizer Campbell from Manyoo. Sounds about as far removed from us as it could possibly be.
-
I suspect it is dependant on passing a medical, which while he has been injured, he has been unable to take.
-
To a certain extent you are correct. Unforetunatley the present Management structure and I include RL and MW in that, haven't delivered and most on here can not see them ever delivering. RL and MW may not be the direct reason why the attendances are so low but the results of their actions certainly have an effect.

I see that Bolton are trying to get more fans to turn up at the weekend by offering FREE BEER!! Rupert could try this, although having tasted the beer at St Mary's, I'm not sure it would work.
