OS says Mills, Pekhart and Perry haven't travelled because of illness. What happend to the "Killer fit for Preston" story? Obviously not!!

We were fobbed off with this explanation when St Mary's was being built but it's patently not true. Many of the new stadia (Wigan, Hull, Reading, Donacter etc.) and practically all of the redeveloped stadia have nowhere near the gap between stands and pitch that we have. Stamford Bridge has hardly any more than the Dell used to.

Rupert makes a shortlist of candidates, who can take over from JP when his latest masterplan goes t!ts up.

Seeing we can't put the ball in the net or keep it out from set-pieces, I don't think having 2 more midfield players fit makes a blind bit of difference.

The thing is, when he took the job he did have the resourses (Davies, Safri, Saganowski, Rasiak, John etc.) One by one these have been taken away from him by either Lowe, Wilde, Barclay's Bank or by his own decision. He has replaced some of them with good players like Cork and Schneiderlin but the fundamentable positions at the back and up front remain very weak. A fit Svensson (I wish) would help and I hope Alex Pearce doesn't turn out to be Ian Pierce (but as I said on another thread, IMO another 19 year old is not what we need in the centre of defence). However, plugging the gaps at the back is one thing. I just do not know where the goals are going to come from.

We can compete with or better many teams in this division between the two penalty boxes. Unforetunately were crap in the other 36 yards of the pitch.

No, but it does have other assets that are gathering dust. The point I was making was that they always come up with big ideas. The Ice rink and Town arena come to mind, yet are never prepared to put any funding (despite spending millions in feasibility studies) into the projects therefore they are never built. If I remember correctly the city council promised Saints a 40,000 capacity stadium in the docks back in 1976. Just another pie in the sky idea!! Never mind! If Saints go to the wall there will be more room to build empty flats!

The Echo says it was against Saints Reserves. Gasmi played 65 mins but doesn't mention the rest of the team.

Jack Cork played all last season in the Championship for S****horpe.

42 yes, but less than a dozen at this level.

I hate to be negative over a signing, but another 19 year old with bugger all experience is not what we need.

Because every project in Southampton is built with private money. This is why many of the revolutionary visions (WOW factors) they have, either never get built or are nearly always downsized or abandoned half way through. Southampton has a multi-million pound art collection that never sees the light of day but they will never sell it to fund public projects. Hull city council built the KC Stadium (which cost more than SMS) with funds raised from selling off their own telecomunications company. They rent it to Hull City AFC and Hull FC Rugby League Club (although I believe both are shareholders of the holding company in exchange for the council taking over their previous grounds). The lack of stadium debt has enabled Hull City to build their team year-on-year and now they are flourishing in the Premier. Unthinkable only 4 years ago.

I think it could have still been George Reader? Alan Woodford took over from him but I think it was late 70's, early 80's.

I heard that they are including free head stickers of the U18 and U16 squad which you will be able to place over the 12 players printed.

Terrible news. I only read the 'sticky' about her being missing after last night's game. I didn't know Paula but send my heartfelt condolences to her family and everyone that did know her. RIP.

Yes, 5 1/2 hours of football since.

St-ern John! St-ern John!

Can't you just say 7-1 again, so we can scrape another valuable point?
-
Shouldn't that be "On the treatment table (again) is Perry Groves"?

Used to quite enjoy the Trent End's retort "And Nottingham Forest hate you, you b@st@rds!"

I agree that he has been exceptional with some of his shot stopping and his distribution has improved no end but he has been at least partly culpable for some of the set piece goals we have conceded over the last month. When the ball is played into the 6 yard box it should be keeper's ball, no arguments!! KD needs to come and either catch or punch clear much more than he is prepared to do. All 3 of the initial crosses for Watford's goals were close enough for him to take control but in each case, he was routed to the line. Can't blame him for the goddamn awful defending of the second balls though!!
