  1. The difference here is that Lowe could say to Drew (not saying he would), we have received an offer from xxxx (possibly Stoke, possibly another team). The bank has told us that we must accept the offer, the alternative is that it will withdraw its support and we will have to file for administration. This puts Surman in an impossible position (especially as a Saints fan). He either has to agree to go, even if it's the last place on earth he wants to move, or he is seen as the reason for SFC going into administration. It's a no-brainer!
  2. Great, use players all recovering from long-term injuries, two of which have never pulled on a Saints' shirt. Nobody has even seen Gasmi play and the concensus of opinion is Pulis isn't good enough. For how long with even more dwindling attendances and less family silver to flog!?
  3. I don't believe Quinn has any input into team matters apart negotiation of sallaries etc. Can you imagine Keane allowing that? There would be one almighty row (litterally).
  4. Did MW receive a finding fee?
  5. Absolutely agree! We have 4 outfield players currently playing that are head and shoulders above anything else we have (or are likely to have for many years to come). Schneiderlin, Cork, Lallana and Surman. After January there is a good chance that we will no longer have any of them and then we will really be in the sh!t.
  6. You didn't need the explanation, the statement was sufficient.
  7. I think I would have preferred Wotte in the first place. To me, he seems to have more about him!
  8. No experiments, no gambles. Someone who knows English football, with a proven track record at this level and one that is used to working to a budget. IMO the manager is the most important person in the club and going for the cheap option time and time again has cost this club fortunes over the years and continues to do so.
  9. In what way is he a fool? It is blatantly obvious that several are out of their depth. Some because they are not yet ready, others because they are just not good enough.
  10. Cardboard cutouts in the Chapel? It'll never catch on!!
  11. Bristol City showed the importance of having experienced players in the key positions of central defence and centre forward. At both ends of the field we were out muscled and out fought, not because they had particularly more talented players in Adebola, Fontaine and McCombe but because they just had too much strength and knowhow. Unless one of Rasiak or John and a fit Svensson returns, this is going to happen week after week.
  12. They'd have to fly JP and Wotte out to Jersey every week to do that!
  13. I'm really surprised that it is allowed by the Football League. At best, it must be stretching the rules on loans. Clubs shouldn't be able to loan in players at the same time as loaning out other players and IMO it's a loophole that will be shut.
  14. Good point! Ask Jan when he's taking it?
  15. Wouldn't the Rovers fans have to change trains in Southampton?
  16. Not enough takeover rumours! All IMHO of course!
  17. I actually wrote to the club in the summer, with this very idea, suggesting they used the non-allocated corner between the Kingsland and Northam stands (because I too can make most weekend fixtures but not mid-week). I never received a reply, a week or so later they announced that they were closing the corners and consequently, I did not renew my Season Ticket.
  18. I don't suppose he's losing to much sleep about being released by Saints. He's since played in the UEFA Cup with Motherwell and Champions League and UEFA Cup with Celtic.
  19. Strachan signed him because the previous season he was top scorer in the SPL whilst playing for Motherwell (including scoring several goals against Celtic).
  20. Glad to say I was there.......Not so glad to say I was there a season or two later when we gut stuffed 6-0 and the coach broke down on the way home
  21. Could be issued in token form, which you would need to exchange for a ticket at the T/O when sale was open to ST holders and Members.
  22. Ticket Office in 'damn fine idea' shocker!! http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/articles/article.php?page_id=10861
  23. I thought it was a poster on here spoke to him at a reserve game, who advised that he would be out for months, due to a knee operation. Not sure the OS has ever mentioned it.
  24. He probably mentioned he wouldn't mind signing Kelvin at some point in his career.
  25. What makes you think that they will go to the higher leagues? IMO if any team makes a reasonable offer for any of our players (and I'm sure we've all heard of Reading's interest for Surman and Fulham's for Lallana), then they will be sold, whether they want to go, or not.
