We finished 7th that season despite losing the final 2 matches, away to Arsenal and away to Spuds. If we had won both we would have finished 3rd behind Liverpool and Villa.

This is why I can't understand that anyone actually still supports him (apart from the ones who depend upon him remaining in power to uphold their own positions). Any other business, anywhere in the world, he'd have been out on his ear years ago.

I agree with most of that but it goes with the territory of being a goalkeeper (errors are spotlighted because they invariably result in conceding goals). Last season Davis was ordinary at best and cost us quite a few points. This season he has saved us many more points than he has cost and at this moment looks like being our player of the year. But many more games like the Swansea and Sheffield United games, he is in danger of undoing all his hard work.

Why? Davis has proved a lot of people wrong this season and has probably been our best player but that does not put him above criticism when he c*cks up.

TBF The fans were prepared to give JP a chance because we all wanted it to work (even though most of us didn't really believe it would) and he was a likeable, almost cartoon character. IMO there is absolutely nothing likeable about Wotte, he is tarnished from being part of JP's failed team and he has made several snide remarks about the fans. Therefore most of us have already made our mind up about him and unless he turns the results around immediately I don't think he has got a cat in hell's chance of succeeding.

He may not have been able to save it ultimately but he should have extended his arm, hand and finger tips fully, in order to give himself the best chance. Not taken his hand away allowing it to go in unchallenged. Like I said on another thread, it looked like he thought it was going wide and diliberately took his hand away to prevent giving away a corner.
