Coventry would have gone down.

TBF, that was the only time this season, I thought I may have made the wrong decision in not getting a Membership. However, as soon as the club allowed ST holders to have as many tickets as they wanted, I knew that I knew enough people who are still ST holders, to be able to get hold of one. As Stanley says, £20 for no apparent gain, doesn't look to be a bargain to me (may be if they made them £30 and discounted the match tickets, they would make more sense). So boycotting Memberships is not really any hardship because I would imagine a number of fans are like me and not bothered in the first place.

None of us know the full facts but my take is that Crouch knew he was taking a gamble on Pearson and had tasked him with the job of keeping us in the division. He could afford to pay 'X' amount (reported to be c £200,000 pro rata) until the end of the season and this would be renegotiated at the end of the season. I suspect Crouch had promised that if Pearson was successful, then the job was his long-term and for probably a similar salary. Once Lowe returned it was immediately clear that he wouldn't be paying anything like £200,000 to the 'Head Coach' and the position would have to be renegotiated (even though they had saved half a season's Burley salary on top of £300,000 compensation paid by Scotland). I believe that Pearson would have worked for whatever the new salary level was (although no proof) but Lowe had already lined up the Dutch Dynamic Duo. To learn that you have been removed from your managerial duties by TELETEXT and never being told face to face is despicable and unforgivable.

Especially as they were going to sue a national newspaper who dared to suggest this was going to happen!!

Who needs width? We play our super-duper total football system with 4-3-3, 4-5-1, 4-2-1-2-1. And very successful it is too!!

Yes but surely Nick, it would be better to sign ONE player who could improve the team. Or, keep a Rasiak, Dyer or John, than sign the likes of Gasmi, Pulis, Smith and (dare I say it) this Hungarian guy, who just add to the drain of wages but offer very little. I know Gasmi, Pulis and Smith were cheap but they'd be a damn sight cheaper if they weren't here.

Should have been a penalty then, surely!? IMO he should be shown the Red Card!
-
I think your right! Half of them would have been shot by now in Colombia.
-
Alas, I don't think it is him either.
-
We are NOT! It's certain people within the club and their 'friends' in the media that are.
-
But what is the point of filling our squad with players that aren't good enough to challenge those already here? We've got enough average players of our own.
-
I don't think anyone would disagree but IMO they would be much better off WORKING ON SET-PIECES!!!
-
We have NOT lost them, they are choosing not to go!

I will put this up on this thread, because St L closed the Subs Bench thread before feed back. I can not believe that KD has made the All-Time Saints B-Team subs bench. He may have had a good first half of one sh!t Championship season but just about all of the keepers we had in the old First Division and the Premiership would walk the floor with him as a goalkeeper and I also include many of the understudies we had in those years.

That is true StL but we have certainly been short of GOOD managers. RL can't half pick them!! -

Agree completely. As the Chris Nicholl thread has proved, he deserves a mention, but Bates and McMenemy are way above the others. (Although for those old enough, and I doubt there's many, a certain Ernest Arnfield?, did get Saints to Two FA Cup finals. Duncan will probably confirm etc.). -
It's not completely unprecedented even if it is far-fetched. Remember Adam Pearson has (in the space of 8 years) been involved in bids, shareholdings or ownership of Hull City, Leeds United, Huddersfield and most recently Derby County.
-
Yes, but his family owned the football club 100% and ran it as a fan, for the fans. Lowe runs SLH for the PLC shareholders or more precisely his clique's shareholding.

Blimey, Jack Hayward sure knows how to drive a hard bargain!!

I only ever watch 'The Championship' when we have won. Suffice to say, I haven't seen very many.

I think all of our promising younger players have gone backwards since Prost left.

Not true actually. I live in Cheltenham and we had 3 inches (just as we had yesterday and again this morning), The West Mildlands also had several inches and the last time I looked, you have to travel through the West Midlands to get from Sheffield to Southampton. -
About right then!
