I think because of how well we are doing, the club is taking Jay's rehab very slowly and very cautiously. No need to rush him back, just one step at a time. I still think we'll see hime back in the squad, if not the team by early March.
-
Just seen him sore the equalizer for DR Congo v Zambia so don't think he'll be playing at St Mary's on Saturday.

The last mention on the OS was on Christmas Day pre Palace away, when RK was asked about January acquisitions. "I don’t think we need a defender, I don’t think we need a midfielder. Only in front we have not a lot of options. When we started the season I was waiting for Jay Rodriguez to have him back in January and he isn’t back now. Sam Gallagher has an injury and we have to wait how he comes back after his injury and that makes it a little more difficult. That’s the reason we look outside to bring in a new attacker." Doesn't tell you much but I think we can assume his return is not imminent.

Didn't think you could actually buy tickets on line without a customer number.

Bought mine on line after 5 minute queue 2 for block 34 (me and the lad) The £2 booling fee is a bit of a bummer when I read my confirmation that mentioned the print at home option. Still £19 for the 2 of us isn't half bad!!

Wouldn't agree with that!

There is another argument here. Chelsea defenders are coached to keep there hands behind their backs but Gary Cahill, in particular, but also John Terry (and previously David Luis used to) deliberately block the ball with their upper arms as an extension of their torso. Never given as handball because their arms are by their side but a deliberate block with their arms all the same.

I think that what he's trying to say is that at full speed the ref quite legitimately didn't think it was a penalty because it didn't look like it from the angle of the tv camera and I for one didn't have a clue what they were appealing for, in fact, I was still cursing why they hadn't given us a handball seconds earlier. With all of the replays and slo-mos and freeze frames you could say it was a stonewaller. Trouble is there is no consistency. Some more clear cut are not given and others which brush the defenders arm, down by their side (as with Leicester a couple of weeks ago) are given.

Wouldn't be surprised if Pelle wasn't also rested. Cork and Targett should start IMO.
-
Problem with that is, do they go for 500 kids. small, medium, large, Xl. XXL, XXXL etc.? They may get a return of £25k but that may not be cost effective, especially as they are already running down stocks for next season's 'named' apparel.

Good coaches improve players, it's what they do. JWP has played for some really good coaches all through his academy days, through the England youth ranks, to Adkins, Pochettino and now not just RK but Erwin and Sammy Lee as well. The trick is to learn from all of them and adapt this knowledge to your own playing style. Oh yes and hard work, plenty of practice and no small natural talent and athletic prowess. Easy really!

Hull City were the better team first half, keeper error for the first goal and they fell apart.
-
Without a doubt Rickie Lambert but ALL the managers at the time were excellent acquisitions and took us to another level. Waiting now for Pep Guardiola to take us to undisputed world and European champions,
-
What's that got to with it?

Sorry but did the OP actually see the game yesterday? He was pheominal, won just about everything in the air and mostly managed to control and bring other players into the game. Desperately unlucky that his header cannoned off the cross bar. He may not have scored in the last few games but his all round contribution/shots on goal/efforts on target are up there with best.

Short and ginger, what's not to compare?!?! As stated above he looks a very David Batty or Peter Reid type player but completely different to Morgan.

Loved this tweet by AlexCrook. Alex Goring Crook @alex_crook 44m44 minutes ago Last time #saintsfc won at #nufc the teletubbies were on our screens. You'd have to be lala to think theu are not top 4 contenders now.

I'm used to being mighty pleased with that at the end of the season. Fantastic performance in the circumstances the belief and team spirit throughout the whole of the squad is something to behold. Ellia was MOTM for his goals but I thought Pelle was immense and how many times has he hit the woodwork, this season??

Newcastle United vs Saints - Build up

If Bertrand is having a fitness test, there must be a doubt if he'll play at all, let alone start. -
TBF I was very surprised that Sunderland were allowed to wear red and white in the derby game at St James'. Likewise that Newcastle were able to wear their home kit at St Mary's. I thought the rules must have been relaxed but obviously not!

I think the average age of their team was a couple of years more than the average age of ours. -
