when i say shortcut key, if you look at the Function key's ie F1 F2 etc etc, there's usually one with a wireless symbol on it. You usually have to press a key call FN and at the same time press the function key with the wireless symbol on it.

Mine did this however it's a Lenovo, although the switch is on, there is also software controling the state of the wireless. A shortcut key FN and F5 together open the control panel for the wireless. I noticed this was disabled even though the wireless switch was on!! Worth having a look on yours to see if its the same?!

I'm with adriansfc here, he hasn't trained too much with the current team so he was on the bench as cover, I think within the next 2 weeks we will see him working his way into the team....

Good shout Ess, I forgot about Dell's lovely bundled software that recognises the hardware as being it's own!!! If by any chance it's not a Dell disk containing the software you should be fine!
-
Can't see any reason at all..... whether apps will work or not is usually decided by the Operating System they are running on and not the hardware. If it ran fine on XP before, it will run fine on X again I should have thought.

no not really... it seems like the most straight forward reason and you didn't say anything in the inital post to suggest that you were unable to do this!

Can't you just get wireless cards for the 2 PC's!??

You can usually download the PC version of the drivers from the providers websites etc etc.... from previous issues here is the vodafone driver download page... http://www.business.vodafone.com/site/bus/public/enuk/support/10_productsupport/laptop_connectivity/40_software/software/05_summary/p_summary.jsp

Cheers for the info guys... in relation to a couple of questions, im supporting 300 users worldwide (UK, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Sydney & Los Angeles). There is nothing in my Contract regarding being on call at all, as it's a new business need just arisen..... Sooo i think the way forward is to tell them I want the same amount as a contractor would get if they went external for it!! Also Pip..... regarding the rat arsed comment, i was merely using it as an example that they need to offer me enough to take on the work and £50 in my eyes isn't for bank holidays!

Just after some thoughts really! I work in an IT department in London and the company want me to be on call on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Eve and New Years day. I don't have anything contractually tying me in to being on call as its a need that has only arisen this year from the business changing. The offer they have made me is £50 inconvenience a day (so effictively just to have my phone switched on) and time and a half for any call out I receive. Personally I don't think it's worth it and £50 isn't gonna stop me going down the pub on these days and getting rat arsed. However I wouldn't have a clue what to ask for..... Anybody got any thoughts???

I'm with you, i've had 3 people text me askin me to get them a ticket!!!!

Purchase a new screen and get it installed by somebody that knows what they are doing. I've brought from these people before and replaced a screen..... http://www.lcds4less.co.uk/

Cool... its a reset for Windows Security Centre!
-
Try this for both (it's a security centre reset): Try this and see if it makes any difference: 1. Go to control panel and open Administrative tools. 2. Click on services. 3. Go down to Windows Management Instrumentation. 4. Stop this service. Stop Security Center service too. Set them to Automatically start. 5. Exit out of this area, to your desktop. 6. Right click Start, and choose Explore. 7. Go to c:\windows\system32\wbem\repository. Delete this subdirectory ONLY. Leave the others there. 8. Exit back to your desktop and reboot your computer (you might need to boot twice).

Its probably a registry issue... I did have a quick look on the web but couldn't find anything... What versions of Zone Alarm and AVG are you running?!
-
Sorry for late reply, OK for the AV, just set it to NOT MONITORED as you know you have it. Then for the firewall just turn off the XP Security Centre Firewall as again you know you have Zone Alarm installed. This will remove the annoying messages. Just make sure that you update it and check them both regularly as with these settings windows won't notify you.
