What digging up these old threads goes to show - quite unsurprisingly - is that the vast majority of people on this site are completely and utterly clueless when it comes to managers, players, formations, how to run a club etc etc. In other words they know nothing about football. I include myself in that. Very funny indeed some of the cr*p we come out with. We shouldn't be allowed loose on society.

I bought two tickets from a friend who is a Coventry fan. I no longer need them as I got some in that debacle last Tuesday. If you want these tickets for a nominal sum, say £20, they are yours. Needless to say they are tickets in the away end. I can meet you before the game to hand the tickets over. No fighting please if you buy them as it could potentially risk her season ticket! Pm me. I'm leaving the office today at 5 so you have about 90 mins.

The Moment you knew the Northam wasn't for you anymore
Armitage Shanks replied to JackanorySFC's topic in The Saints
Jackanory The people you describe so eloquently as being in the Northam are exactly the people I recently encountered when sitting in the Itchen North. Funny that. -
Additional Coventry Tickets Available
Armitage Shanks replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
the tickets are not online yet! -
I'm sitting at my desk now looking out of the window and can clearly see the tops of the stands at the King Power Stadium. I will be there tonight cheering on another team like I've never done before in my life. I'm even borrowing a Leicester shirt from a mate. I will be going more mental than any Leicester fan in that stadium if they score this evening.

LB is going down, but it won't be on his missus for 6 months.

I know that there is a separate thread on tickets, but is anyone else planning to be in the Cov end for the game?
-
I would very much like 2, 3 or 4 tickets together anywhere in the ground. Beggars cant be chosers! I will pay a very decent price. Text me on 07748 644592

I blame their mum and their uncle

There is only one example I can think of this season where we have lost a key player and struggled without him and that was when Bart came in against Blackpool. So I would say Kelvin. We lost Lambo effectively at half time on Saturday and better than coped without him. I'm not saying we don't need him but we have enough cover to still win games in this league without him.
-
I think that Rickie went on there too quickly. I'd having Kelvin there ahead of Rickie - at the moment anyway.

I know that it has been said before that we do better when he plays and I apologise in advance if this has been done before but I thought that it would be interesting to see what the stats are when he plays and when he doesn't play for this season alone. They are quite startling. In League games only, when he has played whether it be starting or coming on as a sub we have won 14, drawn 3 and lost 2 this season. When he hasn't been playing we have won 7, drawn 6 and lost 5. That works out at 2.37 points per game when he plays as against 1.5 points per game when he doesn't. Influential or what? If he'd played every game this season we would already be on 87 points based on that and probably already promoted. I know it doesn't quite work like that but still shows how important he is to us.

I wouldn't want to waste my money betting on this one tonight. If the team that turned up against Bristol City and Leicester put on a show we will get stuffed. Saying that if West Ham play like they did against Ipswich we could score 6. A really hard one to predict and therefore if you're going to bet on anything a 2-2 draw wouldn't be a bad punt.

Personally, I would plump for Jordan Rhodes over Hooper. Most Scottish defences are rubbish and therefore his goal tally becomes slightly irrelevant. Whilst League 1 is not great, Rhodes's scoring record is not just good. It's phenomenal, especially this season. The only thing that makes me question what I say above is that Nigel knows Hooper better than anyone on here. His transfer record has been good. If he thinks Hooper is up to it then we have to trust him but it's a big gamble for Nigel as well as the club. If he joined and he was pony, then Nigel has some serious questions to answer.

Whilst some may not rate Forte, he wil alwaya play a large part in Saints history in years to come. At least he will for me. When he came off the bench last season and scored those two goals in the home game to MK Dons which turned the match in the space of a few minutes, that match was seen as the turning point of our season. Don't be too hard on him.

Was it long armed or short legged? Either way, the piccie of the original statue still makes me laugh a lot it was so bad. It kind of summed up that era in our club's history.

Is David Connolly, 34, better than Kevin Phillips, 38?
Armitage Shanks replied to Giordano's topic in The Saints
Nothing to do with Phillips but an observation about DC. He was a class above evryone on Sunday. His one touches, his link up play, his movement was pure class. I spent fine minutes in the second half just watching him and no-one else. He has a premier league quality football brain. We need to keep him fit. I think he is crucial along with Fonte, Cork, Lallana and Lambert as to whether we go up this season. Even my wife who knows very little about football and came along for her first Saints game, asked who the little guy was as he seemed to be involved in everything. -
Leicester thought they had him and we nipped in and outbid them and our offer had been accepted by Bristol City. The player was keen to join us. Personal terms have to be finalised.

Derry - hello again! I am a solicitor - in Leicester. Still going to happen from what ive heard today.
-
Someone very close to LCFC. That's all I can say. No timeframe. Never posted on one of these before so I'm not a bullshi**er. Just passing on what I have heard from a very reliable source at LCFC.
-
Just heard that Leicester have lost out on him and we're getting him. That's from a Leicester City contact.
-
Joking right?
-
Yep. You're right. It's all Nigel's fault.
-
If he has a good season this year in the Championship and stays injury free with a fair few goals and assists, he could be worth £20 mill by next summer. Hang on to him for now would be my advice.

Who Are Southampton's Biggest Threat Next Season?
Armitage Shanks replied to Deano6's topic in The Saints
Really is a sh*t or bust approach from West Ham. Playing poker with the club and the fans.
