  1. I think that is why the Sun is taking this stance. They couldn't give two hoots about us, but if other clubs like those that you are mentioning see us doing is successfully, then they will no doubt do it themselves. And if they do that, then the papers are going to have to pay a lot more to cover their pages with PL teams. So the Sun is basically going to d**k us over, so that they can send a message to ManU/C, L'pool, Chelsea, Arse, Suds etc
  2. Umm why is it a shame that you can't see a picture (if they actually include any from this match)? All it is is a pic of the goal scorer being molested by his team mates. Hardly exciting. Anyway, that once proud newspaper that is now a complete pile of shi'ite and a waste of trees, can stop being so damned hypocritical. All we ever see are photos of the top 6 in the PL. If I was NC, I would lift the "ban" and then see how many pics are used.
  3. Maybe the (new) owner of the club insisted that Pards be sacked and that the decision was out of NC's hands.
  4. Upper class accent, or is it a non-regional accent?
  5. I had a friend who did an English teaching course in Seoul and absolutely HATED every minute of it. I worked in south west France when I was 18 for 3 years. Fantastic time, but did only get glimpses of Saints on the highlights show at about 2am. Think that that, and the lack of decent beer, pork pies and decent cheese (ie cheddar) were the only draw backs. The birds weren't that fit, but they were very "friendly".
  6. there was one **** load of rain on Sunday night (apparently something like a month's worth in an hour) or there was with me 15 miles away, so I am not surprised if it cut up a bit. I think that there might be some selective memories about the Dell. When there had been a lot of rain, the Archers end got quite boggy and could cut up. Seem to recall that the East Stand corner was the worst. Or is my memory playing up??
  7. if all else fails, Otter & Owl place at Ashurst can kill some time.
  8. I was surprised as well, but I am sure that his advisers pointed out that profiteering on the back of his time as PM, which the biggest decision was the war, would not go down well. Interesting to see that the press give it a mixed reception. I am naturally cynical and fall in to the camp of him washing his hands of blood etc. When or if? I do not think that it will ever get re-opened. If Dr. Kelly was assassinated by the state, then this is almost worse than invading another country. If it can be traced back to the top, then I really do think that those at the top would spend time behind bars. Interesting that the announcement of the give away of the profits comes at the same time as 9 or 10 top doctors/pathologists say that Kelly's wounds (slashed wrist) were not the cause of his death and that Hutton whitewashed things. Coincidence?
  9. I am afraid that private landlords have brought this on themselves. If they hadn't employed these cowboys then I am sure that clamping would not have been targeted in this way. I suppose that landlords will have to put up a spike or gate etc to stop illegal parking.
  10. To be honest, there are plenty of other clubs that have done the same, albeit not quite to City's level. Chelsea did, and were despised for it. As things have moved on, the prices have got higher, but they did the EXACT thing that City are doing now. The likes of Manure bleated on about buying this and that, but they, Liverpool, Arsenal, Villa, Spurs, P**pey, et al have all spent ridiculous amounts. The sooner the rules linking debt to turnover are brought in, the better. Otherwise it is a fairly meaningless competition as only a handful of clubs are ever likely to win it. As for £500k a week, I am not sure that City are that silly, are they? Surely they must have one eye on their fans and would try not to alienate them. I am sure that the ticket price hasn't come down, and £500k would be the equivalent of £10.50 ish for each seat in the stadium. The fans see the players earning a ****ing stupid amount, while they struggle to meet the ticket prices. A season ticket costs (for an adult) between £420 and £605, which to be fair when compared to London clubs is "good" value although the average rise next year will be 5%. Despite of being "good" value, it is still a lot of money for most people.
  11. As I seem to pay more and more tax, I do get ****ed off with these spongers who like to live in this country while having non-dom status. His companies may pay tax, but income tax is something that he doesn't do.
  12. Z3 was a dog. The worse BMW ever (?? or at least in recent times). I presume that the review for the Z4 is somewhat different.
  13. I agree with you TG. You spend all your life working and making a fortune, and then when you get to a certain age, the reality of mortality really strikes you. As they say, you can't take it with you, and as I am sure that his children will be well looked after, then it might well have been an indulgence. Having said that, the club and it's infrastructure are well placed to make someone some money (potentially, if anyone can make money in football).
  14. I'll go for renaming the Itchen.
  15. It is quite a shock all this, and my condolences to family and friends. I would say don't worry, as I am confident things have been sorted out in the eventuality of an untimely passing away. The Liebherr's are no fools, and would have taken prudent measures to deal with this situation. His Will will pass the club on to whoever he has decided and they will be the new owner to do with how they please. I presume that it will be a family member (but you never know), and I hope that they have an equally fond view of Southampton Football Club. If they don't, I do hope that we as supporters will accept that. From a business angle the club is quite attractive so again I have no worries about the future.
  16. The Vuvzelas were particularly South African and were rightly at the games. But not 20k-50k of them at once. That just ruined it. To me the best noise at a game is the building up of an expectant roar which is then capped off with a goal. With the WC I never once heard the increasing crescendo of a roar followed by the "goal" roar. Just that damned swarm of hornets.
  17. And don't stub your fags out on it as it burns it.
  18. Wouldn't get a Z3. Z4, yes, but I guess the price wouldn't be right.
  19. I think he said about a 1/3 of the reported £80k. About...hmm...so let's call it £30k a week. Now that could be either gross or net, only a peek at his contract or their accounts would tell, so it could cost Poopey well over £40k a week. I presume that it would be, as I am sure that foreign players especially would like a lump sum with all the tax already sorted out by their employer so that they (and/or their agents) don't have to worry about it. Does anyone know what standard practice is with football clubs?
  20. Mrs booked one last Friday for travel today and I think (off-peak) it was £37 return from New Milton. I find trains overly expensive and too complicated. I remember when it was £15-17 for a day return (and no doubt some will remember when it was a few shillings), but £37!
  21. was talking to one of my customers and they spent over £15k on the marquee alone.
  22. Even writing off 80% of the unsecured debt and taking remaining parachute payments into account, it really would be a **** poor investment. He has lent them £17m (excluding interest) so far, and paid himself back £4m (?). There are god knows how much secured debt that needs paying off (£38m??), and £20m odd of unsecured (now that most has been written off). Then £50m odd would be needed to build a stadium (one has to be built soon as the dump is falling down) although this could be postponed for a few years. New players are needed desperately, probably 7 or 8, and lets call that another £20m. Then it is a question of what income there is likely to be against what he can pay himself back while keeping the club solvent. QED **** poor investment.
  23. But if he is going to finance the club and charge 28% interest on his finance, the club isn't going to last very long.
  24. Benjii, as I said earlier, is it really the role of a judge to decide whether an action brought before him will result in that party being materially worse off?
  25. PS - have to give the slimey turd Android some credit.
